The back of her head throbbed with dull pain. A frantic voice sounded from above her, but it was muffled, as if she had ears full of cotton.
"Doctor, Doctor, are you alright? What happened? Doctor Ziffer!"
With some difficulty Eve opened her eyes to see faces of her assistants looming above her. She frowned at them, gesturing them away. They moved aside as she slowly sat down.
The interior of the research room went through some noticeable changes over the time Eve was unconscious. The most noticeable one was a vast hole in the wall, though which Eve could see the empty street outside and flashes of the fights that continued under the walls.
"Doctor Ziffer, are you alright?"
She touched the back of her head, flinching at the sting. Her fingers returned red with blood. 'This isn't good. I must've fallen down on my head when I fainted,' Eve thought, frowning.
