Brendan wasn't sure how to evaluate Rafaela's grandparents. They hadn't asked exactly how old the couple was, but they had records of messages from the two of them that spanned nearly 500 PiYears.

He had gotten used to thinking of his own parents as old, and yet to these two, his parents would still seem quite young. They thought that Rafaela's father was shockingly young, despite the fact that he was nearly three quarters of a century old.

The marriage contract he and Rafaela had signed only bound them together until he finished his own term as the King. Even the Emperor had commented that few people within the Dragon Empire would maintain such a relationship for longer than a century. He wondered uneasily if they would be disappointed once they learned that most marriage contracts in Rafaela's home system were written for no more than a few decades.
