When Rafaela connected with Brennant, he seemed so tired that she wasn't sure he was even hearing her until he replied slowly, "Your ship has been hanging out into the edges of those storms on and off for days. If it's not reporting damage yet, you'll be fine."
She couldn't help the gulp she took as she reviewed the reports of the individual nodes. After seeing the surfaces of the drones it was hard to imagine that the surface of the ship hadn't been weakened. "Okay," she agreed hesitantly.
"You'll be leaving with a copy of the data I want, I'm not sending you off to die," he added grouchily. "If there's really nothing else, just get ready to install your core the instant it finishes."
"Okay," she replied again, but this time the word carried more determination.
