Chương 36: Wishing to hear her mother voice
Patel looked around her as she sat on the chair. They arrived at the clinic ten minutes ago and saw a long line of doctors waiting for her. At first, she became scared but Lana explained to her that her condition is complicated and needs more than one doctor to handle it.
She watched as the doctors looked at her medical reports before two of them stood up and walked towards her and started examining her. It took them a long time to examine her and it made her uncomfortable, But she endured it hoping for good results.
After the long process of examination and doing different kinds of scans, The doctor finally was able to understand the problem.
"It seems that her voice box, as well as her vocal cords, haven't developed since she was in her mother's womb. To be more specific, She is suffering from congenital malformation. That made her unable to hear or speak." A female doctor spoke as she looked at Patel and then at her medical reports." I have good and bad news for her." The doctor added, looking at Lana.
"The good news is that after the surgery she will be able to hear as her auditory system is not badly damaged, The bad news is that right now the medical field is not advanced enough to find a kind of treatment or surgery to make her talk, Right it's one hundred percent impossible." Another doctor continued as he handed Lana, Patel, Medical reports.
Reading the medical report Lana felt sad for the young girl. She had thought that brought her here to help but now how she is supposed to deliver this bad news to her.
"Look at the bright side, Doctor Lana, At least she will be able to regain her hearing and that will change her life." One of the doctors said.
"It's easy to say, Doctor, We don't live in an isolated world like her." Lana said as she looked at Patel offering her a warm smile.
After the long discussion, The doctors left the room, Giving Lana and the patient some privacy.
Lana told Patel about her condition and she was shocked and sad at first but she agreed on doing the surgery.
"If I can hear, That will be more than enough for me." Patel said signaling.
To have the chance to hear the sounds that she only read about in books will be alive changing for her.

Inside Patel's room, The window was open as she stood in front of it. Enjoying the cool breeze at night. She touched her ear smiling to herself. She was so happy and excited. The only thing that is missing is her mother. She wished that she could tell her the good news.
She wished that the first voice she would hear was her mother's voice. That is something she always wanted to happen and it made her sad that when that will happen she is not with her.
