Chương 31: [30] A Real BBQ
[New 28 and 29 out don't know if it was messed up and let others know but if you didn't read them then go back and check them out. This happened to me before with another book, anyway I will make sure that they come out right.]

At the moment I was driving back from doing a job for O, he was giving me more to do and luckily I wasn't getting caught while I was making these deliveries but I did do them in two week intervals on random days. This one made me a little over ten thousand, although I didn't need the money that much these days it was still helpful in letting me build up my bank account unlike everyone else.
I also started one for Liam I wasn't going to be around much in his later years thanks to college and work that I would later be doing so I wanted him to have something to rely on. Debby and Carl would be fine, I wasn't going to stop Carl from being a drug dealer if he still went down that path while Debby wouldn't really need money until she had Franny.
While driving I was stopped at a light and looked to my side and saw that Steve/Jimmy was in the car next to me he must have felt my gaze cause he looked over too. I nodded at him and he smiled, he pointed over to a diner that was nearby and I nodded not seeing a reason to ignore him, sure he left but their relationship had nothing to do with me.
When we got there we went inside the diner taking an open table, "Well look what the cat dragged in, how long have you been back in town?" I asked while looking at the oddly familiar diner until I realized it was the one that Fiona works at later.
"Got in a couple of days ago," He said while stopping midway so we could order but we just got some drinks since we wouldn't be here this long, "You look like you are doing good for yourself, nice car how much did that set you back?"
"It was a gift from my job, I have been working there long enough now so they let me buy it off of them. So what are you doing now that you are back? Still going to steal cars or are you going to do something real?"
"Nah I am back to win your sister back, though I am going to try and not do what I use to so that we don't run into the same problems." he said taking a drink of his coffee.
"Oh good luck with that." I said taking a bite out of the cake they brought me, it was cheese cake I hate pie even if that was the best thing they had here, "So where were you?"
"Brazil, it was amazing exotic loved it down there. But you know something was missing so I decided to come back and get it, how is Savannah by the way?"
I looked at him with a look that said 'are you serious?' making him chuckle some, "She is fine, though her and the other girl I have been seeing have decided that I needed to choose between them so I have a week and a half to decide who I want to choose."
"Wow hate to be you at the moment."
"I have a feeling that you know exactly how I feel." I said raising a brow at him, he froze a moment but then just gave me a smile, "Well I need to drop by the bank and do some other things so I am going to have to go." Taking a twenty from my pocket I set it on the table and took off without hearing him say anything more, though it was good to see the guy.
As I was leaving I got a call from Katie, "Hey Malcolm, what are you doing at the moment?" she asked sounding a little nervous.
"Nothing leaving a diner. What's up you sound nervous?"
"Well you see there is this Debutante Ball happening in two days and I was wondering..... would you mind being my date to it?" she asked, now I knew why she was nervous cause this really wasn't my thing.
"Umm well you know how I feel about being paraded in public like that." I said while looking like I just sucked down a lemon.
"Please I wouldn't want to go either but it is my mothers club which means that I also need to do the same thing that she went through." She said pleading into the phone.
"....Yeah I guess, what do I need to do?"
"Simple come over tomorrow then we will need to get your tux for the event while also having an all day practice to get ready for the ball. It will just be you presenting me and then a dance after that we only need to hang around for two hours at most until we can leave." she said.
"Alright but since I am doing this you are going somewhere with me, the day after the ball is a BBQ here on the southside that we have you are coming with me." I was almost home at this point.
".....," There was a long paused and for a moment I thought that she had hung up on me until she finally spoke, "Sure, that will be fun."
There was a lack of enthusiasm in her voice which I could hear but I didn't say anything about it since it was also the way that I felt about Debutante Ball, hell I never thought I was going to one. After hanging up I went into the house just in time to catch the end of the fight between Lip and Ian about the admissions packet for the school.
Looks like things are going to be tense between them for awhile, ignoring that I went to go take a nap I have been awake since three this morning and haven't got any sleep since then. Lip came in moments later right when I was dozing off her didn't wake me either since he knew that I had been up since that early, he had done it himself before.
The Next Day....
Savannah wanted to hang but since I was already going to be with Katie she had to go off and do her own thing, though it didn't stop her from laughing at what I was going to have to suffer through. She did tell me that she would see me at the the Independence Day BBQ, which was to celebrate the day that woman killed her husband for beating her kids.
For the next five hours I was fitted for a tux while also forced to learn different dances, from the waltz to a foxtrot luckily I was in my regular shoes or I wouldn't be doing this. Katie though was loving it and smiling ear from ear she was also showing me off to the other girls who were jealous that she had me, the guys were the opposite though.
It was honestly annoying though learning all this but hopefully it would be useful when the time came for me to do something that required the sets of skills. "So anything else we need to finish for the day?" I asked Katie while opening a water bottle for her and passing it over after I took a drink.
"No we only needed to learn that so now we can leave if you are ready." she asked with a smile.
"Sure let's get out of here I need a burger." taking her hand I led us out she waved by to her friends, that night I had the best burger of my life while Katie kept laughing since I kept dropping sauce.
The Next Day.....
It was time for the Ball and I was nervous but not in fear that I would mess up but because I didn't want to be paraded around these people like a a show animal, though Katie's mom was happy I was here. When the time came I was a little stunned walking down the stairs while watching Katie she was in a beautiful white dress that showed off her figure, even if it was a little puffy.
She had on light make-up that did make her look like a clown like some of the women who were hear, Charlize was smiling happily while I was walking her daughter down Tom smiled too. The first dance was the Foxtrot which was ten minutes long, I was just glad I didn't mess up anything while we were doing it since all eyes were on us.
After we finished I let out a breath I was holding so did Katie who I didn't notice until now was also looking really nervous, "Don't worry you were amazing and you look beautiful." I told her leaning down and whispering into her ear.
She giggled happily and we moved over to her parents table who told her the same thing, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be with the food needing an upgrade though. It was a Ball so most of it was finger food the biggest meal that could be had was a salad which is why my plate was covered with the stuff, Katie laughed seeing that.
After a few more dances and some pleasantries from the MC of the night we all left it was actually tolerating for me, that night I stayed with Katie since it had been a couple since I stayed over. When we got back to her house she had a surprise waiting their was four giant 12inch subs waiting two were my favorite while the other two were hers, she didn't eat them both but did make me try at least a bite from both.
I slept with a giant smile on my face that night, Katie was cuddled up inside my chest she was like a little cat bawled up into me.
The Next Day... (Yeah I rushed it but I know nothing about those and just decided to add one.)
Katie and I hung out at the pool for awhile at her house with her brother and sister who also had their significant other with them, it was one of the first times where we spent more than an hour together. When it was around three o'clock though me and Katie headed out to the BBQ that she was mentally psyching herself up for if her nervousness was any indication.
When we made it there the thing was in full swing, Carl was hitting a piñata with a wooden stick it had the word dad scrawled across the chest, this was thrown by the kids who went through this. The whole neighborhood was here since this was something we all strongly went in with it was a big F-U to every child abuser out there.
Katie was amazed looking at everything this was her first time seeing a neighborhood come together like this, "So everyone here knows each other? That is amazing."
"Haha no some people might not know some here but it is a community thing so we all get together none the less. Plus everyone brings a plate of food to be served so we never run out." I explained to her while making her a plate of food that she was choosing from.
"Wow so we are technically crashing?" she asked it looked like she was drooling a little looking at the fried chicken on the plate.
"Yes and No since we are invited but it is a neighborhood wide thing, it's tradition." I said while passing Frank who tried to steal the drink out of my hand but a kick to the shin made him leave to get this own food.
"Who was that?" she asked looking at Frank.
"My deadbeat of a father." I responded while taking a seat next to Carl who was eat something that didn't look recognizable since he had mashed some of his food together. She just nodded and started to eat her food letting out a sexy moan while she was eating it, I smiled and dug in but someone took the wing out of my hand before I could eat it.
Looking up it was Savannah who smiled while taking the seat next to me I noticed her brothers and dad were also here laughing with some friends, "Thanks for the food." she pulled my plate and drink over while smiling at me.
I chuckled and was going to say something but I saw Lip walking out it looked like he had the fight with Karen, sighing I got up to follow him before he did something stupid. And it happened right when I turned the corner he was taunting the guy Mike whose mother was the one in jail for this party we are throwing, I let him hit Lip after his comment.
When he was going in for another punch I blocked it, "Sorry about him Mike he is drunk and having women problems." Mike seeing me nodded and went back to the party me and him were kind of close so he didn't take offence. "That wasn't cool Lip, you might be looking for more pain but go drink or smoke it away don't take a jab like that."
"Yeah man you are right apologize to him for me will you? I am going to head out." he spit out a little blood and patted my shoulder before walking off.
Sighing I went back into the yard and found Katie who was talking to Savannah not knowing what it was I left them alone since it didn't look like they were fighting it out yet. The rest was just more celebration until it was time to take off, though everyone did have to clean a little something before leaving so it wouldn't be to dirty in the yard.
Katie was actually gushing about how much fun she had, by the end of it she was having fun with some southside girls that I knew but her and Savannah stayed clear of each other. I wasn't going to ask what happen though and let her stay in her little happy bubble though.
