Chương 5: Training Begins Now
In a dojo, Ryan stands infront of Bill, who is in full karate gi, with the Japanese symbol for wolf.
"I will be teaching you the way of the wolf. In this dojo, there will be rules for you to follow. Rule number one, what I teach you will only be used in self defense and defend others. Rule number two, you will do what I say, when I say it, without argument. Rule number three, both inside and outside this dojo, you will address me as Sensei. And rule number four...always obey rules one through three. Is that understood."
"Understood." Ryan says.
Bill flicks him in the forehead.
"Sorry. Understood, Sensei."
"Good. Now, let's go." Bill says with a smile.
The two of them go to the school. Ryan is confused as to why they're here.
"Uh Sensei, what are we doing here?"
Bill smirks at him.
"We are here, for the first stage of your training."
Bill then pulls out a mop and and rag.
"You will wipe down all the lockers and mop the entire floor."
Ryan takes the mop, still looking confused.
"Sensei, I don't get how this is related to kara-"
"Ah, ah, ah. Remember rule two. Now, get to work."
"Yes Sensei." Ryan groans.
Ryan did what he was told. He wiped down all the lockers and mopped the floors through the entire school. For two weeks, he did the same exact thing, with no end in sight. After Ryan finishes his latest "training" he walks over to his sensei to confront.
"Sensei, I've cleaned this school a hundred times. I wiped the lockers so much, you can actually see your reflection. When can I learn actual karate?"
Bill chuckles to himself.
"You know, I was exactly like you when I started practicing karate. I mean, cleaning couldn't possibly be related to karate, right? Then my teacher asked if I trusted him...I told him yes. Do you trust me Ryan?"
"Yes, Sensei but I-"
"Hey! Do you trust me?"
Ryan stands up straight infront of his teacher.
"Yes, sensei."
"Good. Now, wipe the locker."
Ryan is confused.
"I don't understand, sensei."
"I said, wipe the locker!"
Bill throws a punch at Ryan, but the young man blocks it, using the same motion he does to wipe the lockers.
Ryan is shocked at what he just did.
"Mop the floor."
The sensei throws a low kick, but Ryan blocks, using the same motion he does to mop the floors. Bill then throws a flurry of punches and kicks, but Ryan either doges or blocks. One more punch is thrown, as Ryan quickly catches it, surprising himself as Bill smirks.
"I had the same expression on my face when my sensei showed me."
"That was amazing. I learned all of that by cleaning?"
"Yep. Now it's time for stage two."
