Chương 19: Selena

Cross went on with his daily school life, but now he had an extra person following him along everywhere without a word. It was Luna! She didn't disturb him, just staying next to him when he walked around without a word. Cross didn't mind, as long as she did talk. It wasn't a huge deal and he could feel that she didn't have any other intentions.

Unless she could hide herself extremely well, but Cross didn't think she was that kind of person. Regardless, Luna stuck to him like dog plaster. Occasionally looking at him happily and playing with Blue, who felt comfortable around her.

Other than this, Cross went to talk with Selena every night. She was comfortable enough with Cross to let him pet her and hang around, Cross also brought food for her every night. Their relationship was progressing well, Selena felt like Cross has other motives but her instincts told her that he wasn't malicious, so she allowed him to continue.

Most of the time Cross would just read and meditate in the Chamber, near Selena. It was nice and quiet in the Chamber anyway, so it didn't bother Cross at all. He had also set up more invisible string eyes and a few wards. He had a constant view into the Chamber and he already knew who the culprit behind the attacks were.

It was Ginny, Ron's sister. Cross didn't really care though, it wasn't his business anyway. Plus who would believe him? Was he supposed to accuse Ginny and then say 'Oh I saw her when I was in the Chamber also?' Naturally that wasn't going to work.

So Cross just turned a blind eye to the attacks, a few people die, and? He didn't really care as long as it wasn't him or his close loved ones who were in danger.

And so, Time passed like this

Cross' hair changed with the season and turned white as a month passed.

Cross was talking to Draco in the common room when Crabe and Goyle walked in. Draco called them over and Cross looked over before entering a coughing fit, Draco said "You okay?" Cross waved and nodded as he looked at Crabe and Goyle saying "How is your family Crabe? I heard your dad got you a new.. Hmm.. what was it called again?"

Crabe sat down and said "A new Broom." Cross nodded and smirked a little as he said "Right, right, a broom. Silly me." He got up and waved to Draco before entering the fireplace and disappearing, Draco was used to it but Crabe and Goyle or rather Ron and Harry were stunned.

Cross just jumped into a fireplace? Was he tired of living?

Cross didn't really get along well with Crabe and Goyle normally, now that Harry and Ron were there, he wasn't going to interfere. So he left and returned to his room, sorting out his stuff before going to the Chamber after checking if there was anybody inside.

A few days later

Cross had heard that Hagrid got sent to Azkaban Prison. Cross couldn't really understand why anyone would think Hagrid was behind the attacks, Hagrid was just a nice dumb guy. He was completely incapable of even getting to the Chamber much less planning it.

Did they really think that Hagrid was the Heir of Slytherin? What nonsense!

Cross was walking the halls, a bit angry at the series of events. Hagrid was a nice guy and yet there he was, in Azkaban. What a joke.

Luna walked next to him and finally spoke "Why are you upset?" Cross replied "Hagrid was sent to Azkaban." Luna smiled and said "I think it's strange too." Cross looked at her and nodded before going about his day one again, Luna just smiled and went back to eternal silence.

Time kept passing with nothing going on.

Cross was suspicious, everything seemed to calm down after Hagrid was sent away. Maybe there was something else happening? He hadn't seen Dumbledore either, this directly bumped Dumbledore up on the suspicious persons list. Right to the top in fact.

Cross continued to train with his clone in the Room of Requirement while mediating in the Chamber with Selena.

Months passed

Cross was sitting outside with golden yellow hair, reading a book in the garden. Luna was sitting next to him and reading her own book, he turned to her and said "Why do you follow me everywhere?" Luna looked up and smiled "I don't have any other friends. They call me Loony Lovegood."

Cross asked "We're friends?" Luna's smile widened as she said "Of course. I happen to like you a lot." Cross said "Huh. Well when you stop acting maybe they won't call you Loony anymore." Luna went back to her book and retorted "And when you stop, maybe they won't call you a mediocre wizard anymore."

Cross tilted his head and said "I don't know what you mean." Luna looked around and said "I can't believe the Nargles are infesting the castle." Cross' mouth formed an unnoticeable smile as he went back to reading his book, twitching his ears.

Suddenly

Harry and Ron appeared in front of Cross, who looked up and said "Hm. May I help you?" Luna added "The Cribbleflocks are in the second floor bathroom storage room." Harry and Ron looked at Luna for a second and Harry said "Thanks.." before turning his attention to Cross and saying "We need your help."

Cross tilted his head and twitched his ears as he said "How could I possibly help you, Mr. Potter? Oh! The duck spell is Ducklifors and you have to slash your wand down while you chant." Ron said "Really! It's that easy?!"

Cross nodded and said "It's in the advanced spell book." Ron replied sheepishly "I'm not much of a reader.." Cross shook his head and Harry said seriously "Cross. This is serious. We need to know what's in the Chamber of Secrets."

Cross said "Why would I know?" Harry retorted "Hermione was the only other person I could think of that would know and she's currently petrified. Please!" Cross was silent for a few seconds before saying "A Basilisk, naturally. How do you think you can hear it if it was something else?"

Harry said "I should've known! Wait, how did you know I could hear it?" Cross smiled and said in Parseltongue "Did you think you were the only one who could speak Parseltongue?" Harry was stunned and Ron said incredulously "You're a Parselmouth as well?! Am I the only one who can't speak another language?!"

Cross kept his smile and said normally "I assume you have everything you need, Mr. Potter?" Harry hesitated and said "Do you know where it is?" Cross twitched his ears and said "The Chamber?" Harry nodded and Cross shook his head, Harry nodded again and said "Thanks, Cross. Let's go, Ron."

Harry and Ron left, Luna watched them go and said curiously "You revealed your Parseltongue to him? Won't he tell?" Cross smiled mysteriously and shook his head as he said "Only you know now." Luna smiled and said "I guess I'm special?" Cross went back to ice prince mode and replied "Perhaps." before reading his book again.

Luna smiled and went back to her own book.

Cross had actually infused his Parseltongue words with an Obliviate spell. According to his precision with the spell, Harry should forget who he asked information from in 1 minute. Cross made it so he got the information but forgot who he got it from, the same with Ron.

Cross didn't think Luna would forget, he just had a feeling that she was special but he couldn't quite put a finger on why just yet. Regardless, his secrets were still safe for now.

The night rolled around

Cross was in his bed, about to go to the Chamber of Secrets when he saw that there were people inside! Harry, Ginny, and a soul apparition. Cross looked at Selena, who was severely injured and dying. He frowned, what did Selena do to you?

He watched Harry destroy a book with one of Selena's teeth, the soul apparition exploded into light. Cross was stunned, a Hocrux? Who would dare even attempt a Horcrux in this day and age? A mad man that's who.

Horcrux creation was fundamentally flawed because there was no way to repair the soul after it was torn off. You are basically crippling your future by making a Horcrux, there's always a price to pay for endless life.

The consequences for making a Horcrux was just not worth the benefit. You live forever but are unless to advance at all, what's the point? Eternal life was so great? Cross didn't think so.

Cross kept watching and Harry took Ginny and the book away. He waited until they left the Chamber completely before teleporting inside.

Cross walked over to Selena and stoked her head softly as he said in Parseltongue "Selena, are you okay?" Selena's weak voice came through to his mind as she said "Dying. Finally. I'm tired of being in here."

Cross looked at her and said "If I save you will you come with me?" Selena let out a weak chuckle and said "Fine." Cross brightened up and pulled Selena's body onto the ground before rolling her up and tapping the ground in a circle around Selena's body while Chanting in Elven.

Cross said "Blue, tears please." Blue shed a few tears and they hovered in front of Cross, who bit his finger and dipped a few drops of blood, mixing it into the tears.

The bloodied tears floated above Selena's body and Cross shouted in Elven as he levitated in the air with bright golden eyes "Divine Tree of Life, bless this beast with new life through your vassal! Reverse and Rejuvenate! Blessing of the God of Life!"

The runes on the ground floated up into the air and three circles lit up on the ground before spinning quickly as the runes turned golden, merging with the bloodied tears and turning them golden red.

The golden red tears shot into Selena and the rings spun quickly covering Selena completely as her body started to crack and wither before collapsing and releasing a blinding golden light in the middle. The rings shrank before disappearing into the golden light.

The golden light dimmed down and disappeared as Cross fell to the ground and threw up a mouthful of blood, becoming extremely pale.

Blue chirped anxiously and Cross said "I'm fine." A small snake slithered out of the Basilisk corpse before stopping in front of Cross. Selena looked up at Cross and sighed "Are you okay, Cross?" Cross smiled and nodded, Selena smiled and slithered around his arm before resting there.

Her body glowed slightly before Cross stood up and smiled saying "I thought you'd be a harder sell." Selena hissed "You gave me a new life, Cross. It's only natural, plus I feel stronger than before." Cross smiled and said "Of course. You are. Your scales are black and smooth now, in addition your eyes are gold and you have two small little horns on your head."

As he rubbed Selena with a big smile. Selena was shocked and said "Y-Y-You!" Cross nodded and said "Exactly." Selena was so shocked she couldn't even speak. Cross smirked and said "Welcome to your Evolution path, perhaps one day you'll become the first Basilisk Dragon" before teleporting back to his room, leaving the Chamber in silence forevermore.
