Diamant couldn't sleep. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't. She kept thinking about the woman at the gate, how cold and hungry she must be.
She finally stood up from her bed, went out to the hallway and order a guard to bring her some food in a basket from the kitchen. The guard was fast, in no time he had delivered to her what she requested for.
After that, she put on a simple gown, sat down by the mirror and applied on her face a misleading make up. When she saw that she didn't look like herself anymore, she smiled in satisfaction. She put a cloak in the basket and then snuck out of the palace. Which was quite easy since the guards at the gate were too busy gambling to pay her any serious attention.
When she got out, the woman was no where to be found. Diamant shoulders slopped in disappointment and she turned to leave. Just then, she heard someone cough weakly in the darkness. It took her some moments to see who it was with the help of the moonlight.
