'It's time.'

Tilting her head, mother stared down at me with a questioning look in her eyes? I on the other hand responded with firm apprehension in my voice.

'I'm ready.'

We will leave this cave and I will finally explore the outside world.

Snow nodded her head, an expression she had learned from me. Slowly she rose and before I could react she leaned down and with her giant clawed hand she grabbed hold of me, picking me up and placing me on top of her head. I was surprised. I was actually still pretty tiny. After all, it's only been a year.…..

Bringing my hand to my mouth I tried to hold back a small light hearted chuckle.. I failed.

'Hehe, Well, this is a first.'

I couldn't help it. To anyone else, It would probably be a strange sight.

I didn't mind of course. It was actually a bit thrilling. Being up so high after so long felt a bit strange though...

Slowly she started making her way outside of our small side cave, moving towards one of the larger areas our nest used to exist in. She walked a bit further, eventually approaching a bend in the cave… Without a moment she passed through. I was now officially in uncharted territory.

Not once since my birth have I ever exited the main cave. I wasn't stupid afterall. Yes, it's true. I was very bored staying in this cave. But, the things outside our nesting area CAN kill me.

The orange light in my eyes seemed to glow in the dim cave.

'This isn't a field trip. No, it's an expedition. I could die.'

As morbid as the thought may be… It was true, and the more prepared I was the better.

Even so, Suddenly a nervous knot formed in my stomach. It seems I somehow tricked myself into being fearful at the very last second. I have no one else to blame but myself.

'Setherrog? Child? Are you afraid? Not worry. Mother is here.'

Hearing a voice in my head I flinched. Without paying attention I failed to notice Mother create a Mind Link between us.

Before I could reply, she reached up and lightly scratched the top of my head with one of her claws.

'No death will come. Mother Snow strong. Will kill strong enemies.'

A tinge of embarrassment appeared inside me, but I forced it down. After thinking for a few moments. I gave a simple response.

'Thank you mother.'

My nervousness was justified. But I couldn't allow those feelings to adversely affect my ability to think.

'Mmh'

'Snow.'

'Mmh?'

'What's it like outside?'

.....

.....

A brief silence ensued before she answered.

'Death, Rain, Buildings, Cars, Food, Rocks, Trees.'

'....I see.'

Subconsciously, she was using the terms I spoke to her when describing certain things more and more.

'She said buildings and cars? Hmm, Although I still don't believe there are any humans.. There's still a chance I may have been wrong. Though, it's probably just a ghost town. Hopefully at least.'

It's just that, If there really are humans, it may be more dangerous. Especially if they were to sight a baby Deathclaw. They would definitely try to kill me, if not, they'd either be too weak or they're just stupidly naïve.

I decided to pose a question.

'Mother?'

'Yes?'

'Have you ever encountered any humans before?'

'Do not know.'

Nothing has changed. If mother had known what humans were she would have answered yes. Even if she did not know what the word human meant. That's just how our Mind Link trait works. Even if she doesn't know the name of something as long as she has something in her mind matching the description of something I have in my mind, she will know what I'm talking about. In short, since she doesn't know what a human is she has never encountered a human before. It wasn't my first time asking that exact question. But still, it's good to refresh it every now and then. Just to be on the safe side.

For a couple of minutes, Snow and I continued speaking with each other.

Eventually though, the entrance of the cave appeared in our sight.

I tightened my grip on mother's horns as we got closer and closer. Then.

*FLASH!*

Light flashed through my eyes blinding me. Quickly I raised one arm to shield myself from the rays. Although there was light in the cave, It was dim and it came in from gaps. We're nocturnal anyway. I felt the wind push across my face. So I forced my eyes back open for a moment. Everything turned white…. Then, it faded. The sight I saw left me in shock.

'Amazing.'

Enormous Trees were scattered everywhere. In the distance, I could see high mountains. In fact, we ourselves were currently on a mountain. And looking towards the bottom I saw a small town that looked like it was covered in plants. Probably shrubbery or something.

'No, hang on. Is it fog?….'

'It's green?'

'If the air is green then. Is it Radiation? That has to be it. I must either be in a place that was hit multiple times or near some nuclear waste facility.'

I stared at it in wonderment and curiosity. Was it Fallout 76? The Appalachia? But there would definitely be humans here, right? No, that's impossible. With so much radiation no humans could possibly survive here. Also, Appalachia didn't have trees so huge. I mean they're gigantic. They must be at least 3 times the size of an average great redwood. Though, looking closer they seem to be dimly glowing green.

Mother interrupted my thoughts as she changed positions and began running on all fours. Readjusting myself, I held on tightly trying to get a better look at the surroundings. It was a bit bumpy but that didn't really matter too much.

'Mother where are we going?'

'Buildings.'

She gave me a simple immediate reply before going quiet again. I decided to not ask any more questions.

Feeling the winds brushing against my face I closed my eyes for a few moments. It felt nice. The smell of radiation was strange but it wasn't bad by any means. If a normal human tried to come here they'd be dead in a handful of seconds.

If there were any settlements around here It would probably only be Ghouls or Super mutants. I'd take super mutants any day. Well as long as their numbers aren't too large. Although they are stronger and have higher aggression than other sentient creatures, Their intelligence is much lower. I think fighting a group of 20 humans in their own territory would be much more threatening to a Deathclaw than fighting a group of 5 Super Mutants head-on. The humans know how to hide and fight while the Super Mutants will just run to their deaths whether or not they have walls that could easily protect them. No matter how strong you are, unless you're a Deathclaw or Super Mutant Behemoth, never fight a Deathclaw at close range. Of course, with of the Mc.

Actually, now that I think about it, how should I go about interacting with the MC… Will they even exist? Probably. I don't know how my presence would affect the timeline for the most part. At least Fallout 76 and Fallout 4 shouldn't be too different. Though there's a chance the events of Fallout 76 have already passed considering the fact that vault 76 was said to have opened around 25 years after the bombs fell.

But even then, depending on the age of the Main Character he or she may still be alive. Well first before anything, I have to find out which game I'm in. If I'm in Fallout 3, 4, or 76 all I'd have to do is find out where the vaults are and wait for the MC to appear naturally. Well, that is if I decide to recruit them.

As for New Vegas, It'd probably be wise to track down the doctor that saved the courier's life after being shot in the head. What was his name again? I can't recall it. It's been a long time since I've played New Vegas. Either way, it would be incredibly hard to overtly move around the wasteland being as I am.

As for Fallout 1 and 2. I know where they take place, But I never played them, so I can only hope I didn't appear in any of them because besides a bit of information my knowledge would only aquait to the bare minimum.

My train of thought was interrupted as we rushed past a group of trees revealing a wide clearing. Many buildings came into view.

'Finally, a town. Hopefully, I can figure out which region I'm in. Well, I probably can't find out today. Mother wouldn't let me out of her sight. And if I was in her place I wouldn't let me out of my sight either. This place is dangerous after all.'

Mother slowed down and stood back up on two legs. She reached her hand up to her head and grabbed hold of me…. Gently placing me on the soft ground… Lifting her head high she sniffed the air. Obviously, she was trying to locate something.

Curious, I gave the air a whiff. I regretted it instantly. Many different smells assaulted my nose… It was nauseating, I couldn't make sense of it.

Turning in confusion, I called out to her.

'Mother?'

She ignored my call. Pointing at me, then at the town.

'Hunt.'

'What? This is…'

'Hunt, Snow kill the surrounding strong. Snow come back after.'

Suddenly, she turned in a random direction and began running. Eventually leaving me alone on the edge of the town.

'Well, This isn't good… It seems I've found myself in a predicament.'
