Chương 33: Welcome to the Ascension Academy!

Carter and Sapphire bickered for a while more, their bickering turning into a fight so Sapphire took a deep breath and raised her hand at the screaming Carter, making him halt.

"How about you choose?" Sapphire looked at Xuan Li with kind eyes and asked.

"Choose? Choose what? Cultivation or Magic?"

"Yes," Carter intervened with excitement. "If you enter Cultivation I will be your mentor and will give you all the resources you need!"

"Hold your horses, Carter!" Sapphire screamed as a frown adorned her face. "Stop trying to bribe the poor kid," she said.

She looked at Li changing her frown to the prior kind face and said, "I am not so shameless as to bribe you. I will leave the choice to you. If you want to follow this Shameless guy you can, but if you follow me I will help you to the best of my ability."

"HEY! Who said no bribing! You are bribing him in a discreet way."

"But, I said he can choose what he wants," Sapphire retorted with a kind smile but her eyes that stared at Carter were cold.

"Hold up, hold up," Xuan Li said with raised his hands, seeing them about to fight again. "Who said I want either?" he asked.

"Eh?"

The two perplexedly looked at the other and seeing the same confused stare they knew they didn't hear wrongly. 'Then why would you come to the trial sites?!' they wanted to yell but held back.

"Then why did you join the trials of the Ascension Academy?" Carter bit the bullet and asked.

"Because Dumdum said I could find people strong enough to kill me here," he answered as if it was obvious.

"You… want to die?" Sapphire took a deep breath and asked, her heart starting to drop.

"Of course! Why else would I be here?"

[We have got a crazy one Cart,] Sapphire transmitted using Mind Magic.

[B-But.. He's a genius! Why, just why,] Carter cried mentally.

[Did you let everything out?]

[Yes.]

[Alright then, let's see what we can do about him. His mind can be fixed and we will get a genius then. But, for now let's let him enter the Academy as an exception.]

[Okay,] Carter nodded. [I will tell the HeadMaster… never mind, knowing him, I am sure he already knows.]

"Xuan Li was it?" Carter said with a smile. "Do you want to enter the Academy as an exception and decide what you enter later?"

"Hmm, sure," Li felt suspicious hearing this after the two went silent for a while but he didn't care.

"Then let's start the last trial!" Sapphire put on a strict expression and announced.

Hearing her words, the other three perked their ears up. They will finally enter the last trial and pass it. What would they need to do, maybe fight each other? Another round of fighting Monsters? Maybe, testing if they are proficient in something?

"The last trial for you," Sapphire pointed at Iris, "will be a written Magical Test."

After she said that Sapphire handed Iris a quill that she pulled out of nowhere. "This is a quill made for tests like this or training purposes," she smiled and took out a set of papers the same way she got the quill.

"Here are a set of questions that vary in difficulty, this seems easy right? You just need to answer the questions."

Sapphire hardened her face after that, "now the real test is, to answer the questions you will have to use a certain amount of Mana and pump it into the quill when you write. If you get any of the questions wrong or mistake the amount of Mana you need to pump in," Iris harshly finished, "you fail all the previous tests!"

Iris took the quill with a heavy heart and nodded. 'I have to pass no matter what, well I am sure I will be able to, but this body is still too weak so I might make mistakes…' Iris continued thinking with some worry.

"As for your test," Carter said and started smiling deviantly, "you will probably like this test," he told Flav.

"Anyway let's start," when Carter finished, an Array activated under Flav.

"Your mind just entered an illusion array," Carter told the unmoving Flav, "your test will be a test of your Dao Heart. I will see if you are worthy of continuing with us or stop here, if you fail just like your teammate, your results will be nulled and you will have to wait another year."

Flav nodded with a smirk, "bring it on! Nothing can stand in my way," he assured, hitting his chest.

"Alright then, enjoy," Carter said with a laugh.

Flav felt that something was wrong with how weird Carter acted, but cleared his mind to focus on the trial. Suddenly Flav's surroundings changed from the black room his mind entered when the Array activated.

Flav watched as a room materialized around him with a large bed and candles surrounding it. Hot girls with various exotic colors and sizes that matched his taste appeared around him.

'Oh shit,' was the only thing Flav thought as the hot naked girls jumped him. The black haired one started licking his ear making him shiver, the silver haired one sat on his chest giving him a view of everything and letting him gulp hard. 'This will be hard.'

"Honey, Flav, which one do you want first? Or maybe you want more than one at the same time?" A flirtatious red haired girl whispered in Flav's other ear making him feel like he should submit.

Xuan Li and Dumdum watched the two get tested and felt left out. Sapphire and Carter noticed their gazes that locked on them and answered the doubts that their faces showed.

"He is a special case," Carter started pointing at Xuan Li, and Sapphire finished seeing Dumdum look at her, "and you are a beast. We usually don't have tests for beasts as they don't have many classes so it's pointless to give you one."

Finally understanding what's happening, Xuan Li and Dumdum sat down and conversed with the teachers. Xuan Li didn't want to ruin Flav and Iris' chances of entering the Academy so he didn't ask Sapphire and Carter to kill him.

After four hours of solving questions, an exhausted Iris with a head filled with sweat approached the group and gave the stack of paper to Sapphire.

Sapphire calmly took the papers and started checking them on site. After an hour, Sapphire put them down and looked at Iris as if she was a monster, "...perfect score," she muttered.

"What? Someone actually got a perfect score on your test!" Carter yelled looking at Iris wide eyed. "A monster is an understatement! Sapphire's Mana control and theoretical knowledge classes are the hardest in the whole Academy and you got a perfect score there…. You are an anomaly!"

"Welcome to the Academy," Carter greeted her warmly with an excited face.

Iris joined the group as they waited for Flav to come out of his test and luckily for them an hour later he did.

"How was your test?" Carter gave Flav a knowing smile and asked.

"That… was something!" the latter answered, still a little disoriented.

"But, I passed!" he gave a toothy grin with a thumbs up. He approached Carter and whispered, "thanks."

"Now that all of you finished your tests," Sapphire broke the two whispering's conversation with a glare. "Welcome to the Ascension Academy, this time with a real welcome!"
