Chương 23: Charge Without Stopping
At the ship, numerous silhouette is running straight to the middle of the ship (promenade deck) where the dinghies are placed.
Because of the dinghies hanging at the side of the ship they are given a ray of hope onto their lives.
Most of the people are carrying the bodies of their unconscious friend who got beaten in the middle of the brawl.
But even with that burden, they didn't give a thought of abandoning their friends in crisis.
With Carlo giving orders at the back of the group, there is no decrease in their numbers. He makes sure that no one will be left behind and because of his hard work, others also do the same.
Carlo might look ruthless and cruel, well he is but he is kind to his group. His group only that it, not others.
In the middle of the group, Daniel is getting carried by Ray who is the best friend of Mike.
They don't know each other much but since Ray is the only doing nothing he carries Daniel to his back.
Weird, usually Daniel will be shouting some nonsense but he didn't utter a single word since the time they started running. Is it because his injury prevents him from talking? or because it's awkward to be with someone you didn't know?
Because of the pressure of awkwardness between the two, Ray said a little word to break the silence.
"Uh---uhmmm... So what's up."
"huh!? O-oh... What's up." Daniel flustered.
Ray saw his surprise face and decide to not reply.
(Since he is not to himself I'll just talk to him later.) Ray has thought.
Daniel looks at Ray with confusion as he questions why did he talk to him.
At his confusion question mark pop out to his head.
Unlike Daniel with Carlo, he didn't talk to him because he is angry at him but when he is with Ray he feels different.
The silence continued and the two didn't bother to talk to each other again.
At the front of the group where most of the fight is happening right now as they force their way to the crowd of guards in such a narrow passage at the side of the ship.
Mike is giving commands to the thugs by Carlo's order.
His precision to control the flow of his group while attacking the guards is nothing compared to Carlo.
He lacks experience when it comes to leading a group.
(Tch. It's hard to know where your enemy or your ally is but we must not stop or else our momentum will lose.)
He gathers his breath, "DO NOT DARE TO STOP IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!" shouted with all of his might.
His voice is so loud that it can be heard throughout the ship like the sound of a gunshot vibrating through the air.
His nearby foes and even allies covered their ears as they feel the tingling sensation that might cause their ears to bleed.
What a powerful shout that even he himself is surprised.
(I didn't know that I have this kind of talent. Maybe because of that?)
He questions himself as he got distracted letting himself open.
Suddenly a man in a military suit appears at his back taking the advantage of him getting distracted.
The man forwards his hands as he grabs Mike's neck.
*!?*
Mike's reaction time was late as his feet cannot touch the ground by the man who is grabbing his neck.
The looks of it the man in the military trying to hold back his strength for him not to kill his target.
If someone would look at everybody who is laying at the ground or the people who are getting carried by Carlo's thugs they are just unconscious but not dead. They don't know if it's their order's to not kill them or they are just too strong for them to not get killed easily.
Still, if they wanted to they could just use guns to end this brawl in instant but no one did as the guards were not equipped with guns except the man in charge.
Mike struggles to let the man's hand off his neck but he can't gather his strength.
The man is not the only one who appeared at Mike's back as their numbers are increasing and trying to restrain the thugs.
Mike closed his eyes as he thought that his neck will snap in a matter of seconds.
*Snap* a sound of a bone that been snapped into can be heard painfully.
Mike thought that sound came from his neck as he slowly opens his eyes and notices that he was already lying at the ground.
He checks his neck and realized that his neck is fine but what in the world does that sound of snapping came from?
He looks up to search for the man who supposed to be holding his neck as he lifts his upper body by supporting it with both hands at the ground.
"Yo, kid. That's not cool to just lose thoughts here in the middle of the fight." A cheerful and somewhat cool voice talks to him.
He glances at the side where the voice came from and found Leo stepping at the man who was holding his neck earlier.
Mike's ass was saved by this guy, Leo.
The snap sound was not from his neck but to this man's arm.
His left arm is bent in the opposite direction.
"Gahhh!!! Ahhh!" the man is shouting in agonizing pain from his left arm but Leo still did not remove his feet from him.
"Ah! Kid, we need to move or else we will be left behind from frontline," said Leo in a cool manner as he presses his right foot deeper to this man's chest not giving him time to breathe.
Mike felt speechless and amazed even he is supposed to be thankful to Leo.
"R-right, let's go." Mike finishes gathering his thoughts and goes to the frontline along with Leo.
The situation at the front is rock solid as the people are not stopping even they are facing guards who are twice as their height.
Leo's group is the one who takes most of the guards as they are advancing at a fast pace.
Even without Daniel who is their eyes and their back, they are still fighting smoothly and flawlessly that everyone nearby is amazed.
"Good thing we have them."
"Yeah. I remember I got hit by one of his kicks back then. It's fucking hurts like hell."
Their group consisted mostly of teens, were proceeding to their location without a problem that makes Mike do nothing.
(What a great power these guys were not like these when we are at the city.) What Mike had thought.
He whispers to himself; "It's amazing at terrifying." as he smiles wryly.
They started running not a while ago but still... What a huge ship they are on. It takes minutes just to run from both ends of the ship.
As they run guards are keep coming as they are like water that flowing in without showing a sign of stopping.
But as they keep coming, the thugs have gotten used to fighting them as they can now handle one with one or two people.
"Seriously, I want this kind of team," said Mike with envy.
He can only smile in jealousy but now is not the time for that as their pace is getting faster as time goes on.
(Speed-up evolution, huh. I kinda get this power now but where did this come from?) while they are running as there is no one bothering to attack him he goes into deep thought.
(Still, this is great to us but... I-I can't forget the thing we have seen at the bridge.)
As he is in deep thoughts one of the thugs at his left side shouted excitingly.
"I can see the boats! Woah! they are many than I expected!" said in an exciting tone.
Everyone can hear him loud and clear as they can clearly see the boats with their own eyes hanging at the side of the ship.
Looks like the boats were about to be deployed but no one is riding them as they just leave it hanging.
Mike noticed that there are four lifeboats instead of two he saw earlier. He didn't question it as he thought they were lucky.
This was great as they don't need to wait longer for their escape.
"We are finally getting out of here!"
....
Or so they thought.
