Chương 61: Ch.61 You give love a bad name!
By the end of the day, the group concluded that the best course of action is to head to Hamunaptra. And use it as a defensive location, against the horde of living dead that will be coming like a tidal wave towards them.
Imhotep have successfully drained the americans, and gained substancial power to lead an undead horde from cairo to Hamunaptra while taking over caravans and camp sites in the desert like the oasis.
So that they could kept the team safe everyone will be going to Hamunaptra.
The Medjai forces will be meeting them there as well. They emptied the warehouse Ardeth took them to, packing them in the Ford Anglia.
The very next day they all traveled to Hamunaptra in batches, a board the Flying Car.
The first trip was the logistics group, mainly Tengyi, Honglu, Lan, Kris, Ardeth, and Felicity.
Tenyi, will be constructing a solid wall around Hamunaptra to prevent the undead from swarming the group. Effectively creating a siege scenario, as per Kris, and Honglu's suggestions.
Ardeth will organize the Medjai, to defend the city walls. While Lan, Honglu and Kris will be making traps around the city to hinder the horde.
Mainly trip wire traps, and with Tengyi's help pitfall traps.
Next batch, were the movie characters as they brought along with them food, and water encase a battle of attrition is played by the enemy.
In the last batch was Zheng, and Jie with the injured Heng, and Zero. As Kris drove the Ford Anglia.
Before heading to Hamunaptra they scouted the on coming Horde with the help of Kris's only remaining drone.
The undead horde almost numbered 50000 that being composed of mummy guards and their are some sphinx in the mix.
They were also escorted by two airplanes, piloted by Shiva, and Arot.
Imhotep is nowhere to be seen but, the group assumed that he is in his sandstorm form at the moment.
They were right on spot, 'cause the sand kicked up by the undead horde, suddenly turn into, Imhotep's face mouth gaping; trying to swallow the Ford Anglia.
Narrowly escaping towards the city of the dead the group manage to out run Imhotep.
By dawn the next day the undead horde could be seen in the horizon, everyone ready themselves. Armed with submachine guns the Medjai guarding the walls locked and load.
Team China were at the walls as well, aside from Kris, and Felicity everyone were stationed on the walls.
Zheng took Zero's Gauss sniper as his last request.
The night before Yinkong informed Zheng that Zero did not want Team India to benefit his death so before drawing his last breath he asked Zheng to kill him, Hearing this Heng ask the same.
The neuro toxin in his system almost melted him into sludge but he was still able to mouth the words kill me in the end.
Team China suffered two losses that night but Team India did not gain anything due to their sacrifice.
"Two members killed. Team China minus two points. Team China 4 points; Team India -8 points. Members with negative points at the end of the movie will be erased."
When the sun left the horizon, and took its seat in the morning sky. The horde began to run towards the walls of Hamunaptra.
Akin to a scene from World War Z the undead scaled the walls, bullets flew, trip wire grenades blew, and the battle of the living, and the dead raged on.
When everyone was preoccupied with shooting the undead guards that are scaling the walls, they did not see Imhotep swoop down in all his sandy glory, and grabbed Evelyn, and dashed towards the tombs entrance.
A midst the confusion the airplane Arot was flying crashed on the eastern wall of the city, creating a breach in the defence.
Before the plane crashed Arot leap out of the plane in his werewolf form, and rushed towards the unfortunate medjai gunning down some undead.
When the undead began to enter the city O'Connell wanted to get Evelyn to hide but, what he saw was Imhotep dragging her towards the tomb.
Shouting towards Zheng, and the rest O'Connell run after Evelyn.
Zheng who was using the Gauss rifle to shot down the sphinxs heard O'Connell, and followed him after taking anothe shot at the near by sphinx.
Yinkong heard this but, was more focused on Arot who was tearing Medjais left and right.
Yinkong took out her hellfire fang and charge towards Arot.
Arot seeing his prey was coming to him, he ran into the tomb. Luring Yinkong to a more suitable location for their bout.
At the western wall another airplane crash and smashed the wall this time it was Shiva, seeing Zheng enter the tomb he followed him as well.
Mean while Kris was in thick of things, he was kill mummy guards, and assisting the medjai.
Going thru all 3 forms of the Flowing Lotus Style he was like a grinder in the battlefield, the style was initially made for a quarter staff as a weapon but, Kris adapted the Jedi lightsaber forms into it.
Overcoming the Jedi's weakness for one to many combat scenarios...
"Everyone went into the tomb, Jonathan has the scroll for taking away Imhotep's powers... Are you sure you don't need to help them?" asked Felicity while on the comms, Felicity was task to over see the battlefield as she's a board the Flying car.
"Lan, and Honglu were supposed to go with Felicity but, It was Honglu who brought up the issue of points thru participation."
If they remain out of the battle, will they be able to earn points, and some other stuff... Kris new that you don't have to be literally in the battle to earn points but, he kept his mouth shut.
"How else will they grow if I'm always there to wipe there behinds?" answered Kris
"You know, you could just go, and tell them everything you know to best prepare them..." said Felicity
"The time is not right, and you do know that reality is a bitter pill to swallow. Not everyone will react positively to the truth, beside I'm generally a selfish person."
"Get ready will be leaving soon..."
While the commotion outside was going on, Zheng walked out of the tunnel soaked in blood, not only blood but also pieces of flesh and organs. He looked more like a demon than ghost at this point, especially the little pieces of flesh on the corner of his mouth.
The two women that were tied up, Evelyn and Lan, couldn't see him due to their line of sight. The other two were an assassin(Yinkong) and a monster, so they remained rather calm after seeing him. Though Imhotep's face twitched a little.
Zheng looked at Imhotep. Imhotep turned into a sandstorm and swept at the three women. Zheng was almost a hundred meters away from them so he couldn't make it to them in time. The sandstorm wrapped around the necks of the three women and Imhotep shouted.
"Don't force me! I only want to revive Anck-su-Namun! Give me the Book of the Dead and I will let them go. I will go find other sacrificial offerings! How about we settle this in peace?"
"Like I told you before, The book was never with us. Team India fooled you! we only have scrolls filled with rubbings from the book. We don't know where the book is." said Zheng.
Yinkong was able to beat Arot like in the novel, but due to being injured she was captured by the mummy guards, Lan got caught in the panic after the wall of the city were breached.
While Zheng was running after O'Connell he met with Shiva, and blinded by rage at the death if Shainaia fought Zheng, yet lost in the end becoming prey for the vampire form of Zheng.
At the climax of his desperation Imhotep is now using the women as hostage to obtain the book of the dead from Team China.
"Lies all Lies!! the book now or their lives!!"
Just as Imhotep was about to argue with Zheng, A voice came from the adjacent tunnel...
It was Jonathan holding the scroll Felicity gave him, Seeing this...
Zheng yelled. "Jonathan! Read the words on the scroll! You can control these mummies!" gesturing towards the mummy guards that seperated Zheng from the hostages.
Jonathan got his way into the center of everyone and said. "There are so many Sphinxes chasing from behind. How can I find the time to read?!"
When everyone was focused on Jonathan, Zheng struck the nearest mummy. It turned into ashes as soon as it got in contact with his fist.
At the same time, Zheng took out the progressive knife even though physical damage wasn't effective and slashed at the mummies.
Imhotep saw this chance and pounced towards Zheng leaving his hostages an attended.
They could heard the shoutings of the Sphinxes coming from the tunnel behind. Jonathan quickly handed the scroll to Evelyn who was still bound. "O'Connell, we are really going to die if you don't come!"
"Shut up, Jonathan!"
With a series of gunshots, O'Connell, Ardeth and the curator came into the room from another side. They sprayed at the mummies with their rifles.
Even though it was only physical damage, they were still able to crush the mummies with so many shots.
The three of them were in underwear. Ardeth looked the most violent of them. Not only was he using a heavy machine gun taken off the plane, he also kept throwing grenades. The whole room was filled with the smell of gunpowder and explosions.
Imhotep transformed into a sandstorm and swept at the three men. Even though their weapons were powerful but they were useless against Imhotep in this form. As Imhotep was about to reach them, Evelyn chanted. "In the name of Ra, I command!"
The mummies that were attacking Zheng suddenly stopped moving, but Zheng's body was already filled with cuts.
Even though he could kill a mummy with one hit, but their weapons had a longer reach over Zheng's fist.
Plus, it was difficult to avoid all attacks when he was surrounded by so many mummies. Luckily Evelyn was fluent in ancient Egyptian unlike her brother and was able to quickly read the words on the scroll.
Evelyn yelled. "Destroy Imhotep and his minions!"
The mummies immediately turned around and pointed their swords at Imhotep and the Sphinxes, then leaped at them.
Imhotep turned his head around and shouted. "Give me that scroll!" He left the three men and swept toward Evelyn.
O'Connell and the other two men looked at each other then began destroying the monsters around them. The nonstop shooting and grenades made them seem crazier than Zheng.
Zheng took a deep breath. He knew the plot had returned to normal. Even though there was still differences but this was the scene in the movie.
He looked towards Evelyn. "Let him rest in peace." Then charged into the sandstorm.
The impact knocked both Zheng and Imhotep to the sides. Imhotep turned back to his human form after getting hit by the Na ring.
A fire was burning in his chest. After the fire went out, he leaped at Zheng again.
Zheng wiped off the blood by his mouth. He exited from the unlocked mode. He felt a mixed feeling when he faced Imhotep.
Imhotep wasn't a good person in the movies but his love for Anck-su-Namun was pure and real. He never abandoned Anck-su-Namun once.
At the end of the second movie, he still loved Anck-su-Namun until his death after she betrayed him. Imhotep was just a tragic normal person. Bad, but not extreme.
Zheng punched Imhotep and knocked him away. At the same time Imhotep hit him on the face. After he landed, Evelyn's voice finally came. "Kadeesh mal! Kadeesh mal! Pared oos! PARED OOS!!"
Imhotep looked at her staggered. A chariot rode down from the altar and when it ran passed Imhotep, it carried a translucent Imhotep away from his body.
Zheng sighed. He activated the progressive knife and walked over to Imhotep then muttered. "Some things should be forgotten. Though I don't know if transmigration of the soul exists in Egypt. Don't love someone you shouldn't love in your next life."
The knife slashed through Imhotep and his head fell off.
