Chương 19: As Expected!
"MY LADY, are you sure about this? You can still change your mind. It is not bad to retreat from your mission now."
Avril tried to persuade me into not giving the flower crown to Elishia right now because she knows that I won't be treated warmly.
Of course, I know I won't be greeted with hugs and kisses, but that is what I need for this plan to work.
"My Lady, let us just retire for today and do it in another day?"
I stopped walking and looked at Avril who is still calm and collected on the inside but she is panicking on the inside.
I placed the flower crown on my head for a moment before I put my hands on my waist and looked at her straight in the eyes.
"Do you trust me?"
She froze at my sudden question and I can see that she doesn't fully trust me on this.
I breathe deeply when I fully got her answer and stared at her with eyes full of conviction.
"You got to trust me."
She sighed and lowered herself so she can look at me face to face, "I do trust you, My Lady. However, you must not face them head-on in just a day. You have a weak body, and being put into strong emotions and stress can make you bedridden again."
I clicked my tongue at Avril's logical explanation while mine is just a whim. I can't argue with a smart person.
The original Eristheria has a weak body and even the smallest of things can make her sick.
Maybe that is why this fragile body needs more caring and attention.
'Still…'
"Let us just finish this off today."
Avril looked into my eyes and she sighed when she saw that I wasn't going to back down.
"I will allow you only if you tell me what you are going to do. I don't want to know after you have done it, leaving me confused." She stated and I feel a little guilty at that.
I only met her this morning and I am already running around the place. I am putting suspicion on myself and this isn't really how the original Eristheria act.
I could tell from Avril's tone that she is genuinely confused about the sudden change.
"Okay fine."
I was about to tell her what I am going to do when we heard the soft clicking of heels on the floor and we stared at where it was coming from.
Avril and I saw Elishia walking dignified as ever and behind her is her maid attendant.
When she saw us, she stopped in front of us and again, sent me the coldest gaze ever.
I cleared my throat before greeting her, "I greet Sister Elishia."
"What are you doing here?" She asked instead of telling me she acknowledged my greetings.
I stayed bowing in front of her and said, "I came to give something to Sister."
"What is it?"
I then showed her the flower crown that I made but I received no reaction from her. I peeked to see what her expression will be when I saw her eyes became darker as she looks at me in distaste.
Then, she spoke, "Where did you get these flowers?"
By this point, I decided to let myself stand up because clearly, she has no intention to and smiled at her.
"In the garden!"
She suddenly grabbed the flower crown from my hand very harshly and dropped it on the ground, and going as far as to step on it.
I watched in shock and stared at the now ruined flower crown.
"Don't make this again and don't ever try to get close to me because you are not my sister." She said then left.
I still stared at the ruined flower crown on the floor as I bend down to grab it. The petals have now been crushed and some of it fell off while the stems are now in a darker shade of green than before.
I held it in my hand the same way I did earlier and I take a deep breath in.
"My Lady…" Avril's voice is very worried and she thought I am going to cry, but…
'This is perfect! She exactly did what I had in mind!'
I turned to Avril with a happy smile and she was surprised to see me smiling, even after what Elishia did to the flower crown I tried to give her.
"You see that?! You saw how she stomp the flower crown, right?!" I sound crazier than I expected.
Avril looks confused at my actions but still nodded at me, "Yes, I saw it with my own eyes, My Lady."
I laughed happily, "This is just perfect!"
"What is, My Lady?"
I hummed joyfully and looked at Avril with excited eyes, "You see, I hope she rejects me when I give her the flower crown."
Avril was utterly confused at what I just said and I laughed at her reaction. I mean, this is by far the most reactions that I have seen her have since early this morning and she kinda looks cute.
I stopped laughing for a moment to explain it to her.
"I want to have a clear rejection from both of my sisters to see how much they hated me. Ekris hates me but I still have some impact on her while Elishia is just blank and cold as ice. The reason why I did that is to determine my next steps towards them carefully." I explained like what I have is a master plan that will solve the country's problems.
Avril looks at me blankly and I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing but the way her eyes stare at me like she has no soul left inside of her makes me think that it is a bad thing.
"So, My Lady just wants to confirm… that her sisters hate her to what extent…" She slowly mutters and I swear, the more she understood what I said, the more blank her eyes were.
'Did I finally break Avril?!'
I grab hold of her and shake her violently, "Stay with me, Avril! I can't lose you like this!"
She turned her head to look at me and she already looks dead inside. I hear an imaginary heart line became straight and my eyes widened at this.
'Noooooo!!!! She's dead inside! I lost her! This is all my fault!'
She can't handle my genius brain!
"Since when did My Lady became stupid?"
'S-Stupid?!'
I stopped what I was doing and turned my head sharply towards her. I saw her look at me like she is processing it and was thinking that I am stupid for doing all of this just to know how much my sisters hate me.
It was my turn to be shocked.
"My Lady already experienced it many times that they hate you, really hate you to your core, but you still went to them just to see if how much they hate you?"
Why is it when it came from her mouth, it sounds stupid?
I pouted, "It is because…" I waver and almost let out a curse word.
Why does it sound like an idiotic plan now?! This sounds cooler in my mind!
Avril sighed and put his hands on my back and gently push me to walk. I did so and it was my turn to look dead inside while reflecting on what I had done.
However, I still got the idea as to how extent they hate me.
That's a win-win!
"If My Lady would like, I could tell you something about your sisters." Avril offered when she noticed that I was not planning on talking anymore.
My eyes snapped towards her and I was in full excited mode again, "Please do!"
So I can begin to plan my next step!
Avril sighed in relief when she saw that I am back to normal started talking, "Lady Elishia is known in the capital as a potential candidate for the crown prince, but it is still undecided yet."
Hmm. Elishia was not mentioned as a potential crown princess candidate in the novel, or did I miss something?
Also, Elishia is being pressured just because she can be a potential candidate for the crown prince?
Maybe the reason why she wasn't mentioned anywhere in the novel is that she didn't make it into the final list?
If this theory is correct, then it can affect her life and stand in high society in the nearby future. In high society, only the highest of titles and richest of nobles gets to shine and stand out.
One of the many reasons why the heroine was bullied was that she is just a Baron's adopted daughter.
"She is also known as graceful, elegant, and kind."
"You forgot to add cold and unfeeling." I interjected making her nod.
"That too."
I nodded at this and asked, "How about Ekris?"
"Lady Ekrisilia is known as a talented swordsman at just her age. She was able to win in a lot of sword competition and held the title of champion for the past 2 years."
"As what you have watched, she is known for her style in fighting and is very friendly towards other people."
"Except for me." I interjected again.
"Yes." Avril agreed.
If Ekris is known as a talented swordsman, then she must've come across with Kuren Julius, the male lead's friend, and future captain of his squad.
Based on the novel, Kuren's exceptional skills in swordsmanship made him known in the empire and many would come to him to ask him to be their escort.
But Kuren has no intention of accepting it for he has already pledged his allegiance to the male lead.
I stopped walking and turned to Avril, "So, Elishia is known to be a potential candidate while Ekris is known as a talented swordsman."
Avril nodded, "That is correct, My Lady."
"Then, are they also known for their mana?"
She shakes her head, "Not quite. Lady Elishia rarely uses hers and Lady Ekrisilia doesn't use it as much because of her sword."
So, Elishia does have her mana and rarely uses it because there is no need to show it off. Ekrisilia is not even aware that her mana is radiating off from her sword, that is why she can easily defeat her opponents.
How about Eristheria?
If both of her sisters have mana, isn't she suppose to have one too?
If so, what is it?
"Avril, do I have my mana?" I asked her.
She patted my head and told me in a roundabout way of her answer.
"You are still young. Normally, your mana will awaken at your fifth birthday but some people awaken theirs by a later age."
I nodded at what she said and continued walking back to my room. The whole walk was silent and I was just thinking of Eristheria's character.
I still don't know that many about it, but maybe I could find something that will answer my questions about her?
All I know is that she is an extra character that was not worth mentioning in the novel and that she is hated by her sister but loved by her parents.
She doesn't have mana but somehow, these eyes can see mana.
After that, I enjoyed the rest of the day inside the room, with lots of tea and sweets! I also wrote down what Avril said about my sisters earlier and grinned to myself at the outcome of today's first step of the plan.
Soon, I will capture my sisters and I shall live a comfortable life here!
