Chương 40: Vampire Diaries 38: Honesty Must Be Treasured

Drake looks intently into my emerald eyes as he tucks away some strands of my hair.

He said, "I will be here for you,"

"I know. I know, but we need to be careful!"

"Yes. But I came here only to see you, to know that you are safe!" He said as he cups my face gently.

I... never thought that I will feel this sentiment in my entire life.

In my past existence, no one attempted to be brave. There was no Prince who succeeds with the King's plea. Even the most popular and well known Prince of the nearby Kingdoms.

However, I must manipulate Thalia's body as long as I can. I must live the way she lived before!

And no one shall disclose the truth, especially to the Vampire King.

"You must leave, for now, Drake. I... I am afraid of what awaits for all of us! I want to protect you that's why we must not see each other for the meantime."

Every word that I have said are all against my will.

Pushing away from the man who thought to me that I'm a woman who deserves to be love and appreciated.

Drake takes a long sigh and nods his head.

I am confused with his response but still, I look at him as if it is the last time that I will be going to do it.

I hold my breath to stop myself from embracing him. I must to or I'll be a loser, again.

"I must see you again, My Lady."

"Thalia?"

For a second, I remain quiet upon hearing his voice. I am too naive not to hear the door opened.

Using my eyes, I tell him to flee but it is too late when the door opens.

"Dr–Drake?"

"Th–Thalia? Y–yo... you look so beautiful!"

Jack enters the room that left me astounded. I need to ensure that Drake is gone and escape safely.

But I can't turn around when Jack stares behind me. His eyebrows raise as if he sees someone at my back.

"Damn!" I whisper as I close my eyes.

We're doomed now! If only he obeys me, I don't need to feel nervous and frightened. I should be smiling at the moment not holding my breath away.

"Why are you too quiet?"

Abruptly, he walks closer to me when Emilia enters inside. She covers her mouth as her eyes widen in surprise.

"Y–yo–you seem like a King's wife, Thalia! And your hair is too perfect and beautiful!"

She's right. If only I can introduce Drake to her, I will do it. But I know, it is just chaos that will change my life, our lives.

Jack giggles while listening to Emilia.

He stands behind me silently while the vampire before me touches and tries to ruin my hair.

"Can I touch your hair?" She asks me.

I only wanted to know that he's safe which propel me to nod my head in agreement. "Go forth," I reply shortly.

Quickly, Emilia steps closer. She's about to touch my hair when Jack grabs her arm.

He said, "Let me do it for you, Emilia. No one shall attempt to touch her. Anyone shall ask my permission as her mate."

I gulp when I realize what happened. Emilia blinks her eyes and looks at her arms.

"F–forgive me, Your Highness! I... thought I can touch her hair!"

Emilia bows her head as she asks for forgiveness. But she doesn't have to, she must not feel guilty and culpable.

"D–don't frighten her, Jack! She's your comrade and you should treat her the way you treated everyone around you!"

I don't mean to yell at him but Jack gives me a reason to do so.

I thought he will be insulted but, he burst into an abrupt laughter. Jack said, "Fix your hair again, Thalia! We need to leave before he reaches the palace!"

Instead of answering him, I bow my head, staring at my elegant pair of shoes.

"Accompany the woman I adore, Emilia. I'll be waiting before the horn sounded off."

"Yes, Your highness."

Emilia lifts her head and looks at me secretly. She even winks as if she's not scared that the Vampire is standing before us.

By then, Jack steps closer to the door. I thought I can breathe deeply in relief when he turns around.

"Why... Why did yo–"

"Why is it that you let the windows wide open? You should always close it before the werewolves come in and abduct you!"

For a moment, I gape and try to search for Drake. In the four corners of my compartment, there's no trace of him anymore.

I should have convinced him to escape before it is too late. And my fears embraces me when the table creaks abruptly.

"Who's that?"

"There's no one in here aside from us, Your highness! It must be the mouse sauntering around the palace." Emilia said.

But I know who's hiding under the table.

"Drake,"

I utter his name and I didn't speculate that Jack hears it. "Wh–what did you say?"

"No... Nothing! Perhaps excitement makes me enthusiastic and eager to see my mother!"

To distract them, I burst into laughter that makes Jack calm and mellow. "Follow me, Emilia! We don't have enough time!"

Confused and clueless, Emilia looks at me as she waited for the Vampire King.

"Wait for me outside. I'll be quick!" I murmur but she's too silent and appears to be passive.

Jack looked at me countless times. His eyes tell me that he wanted to touch me but he chooses not to.

By then, I feel immoral and vicious. Betraying a man who didn't stop showing his fondness towards a simple woman like me.

He then steps towards me and whispers, "Always close the window, My Lady. I will never accept when I disclose the truth, that you are only deceiving a vampire who has everything,"

I hold my breath while listening to him. I don't know what to say but the only thing I do is to nod my head. To pretend that I am innocent and pure.

"Your honesty must be treasured, Thalia." The Vampire King added.
