"You’re a very fine girl" the woman said again for the millionth time and I laughed
"Thank you, ma" I told her and Jide watched me eat. I showed him a wedge of potato and he pointed at his mouth.
"Eat by yourself" I nudged him and smiled.
"C ‘mon" he pulled me closer and I placed the little wedge of potato in his mouth.
"That tasted amazing" he chuckled before looking at his wristwatch.
"We have to go now, babe" I nodded and shoved the last potato into my mouth. I squeezed the newspaper that used to hold the Potatoes and threw it into a trashcan close by.
"Thank you, ma" I greeted her and Jide did the same before we walked to the car and got in. He started the car and kept his hand on my thigh. I liked it, it felt like some form of reassurance that he was still there.
