Chương 39: xxxix

Days passed and Rosalie grew sicker and sicker until she began to look not like herself. Mateo had locked her in the room and refuse to give her food until he felt the need to give her food. He took away her need for clothes and water and just left her there isolated.

I slowly felt myself going insane as the days went by. It was a total nightmare, I grew sicker and my stomach remains unnoticed, but to me, it felt chubbier and a bit firm underneath my navel. I couldn't believe I was pregnant, I was so happy but miserable as I thought about the twins.

I had lost hope now. Everyone knew of me being the Luna, meaning my family knew, and I fear that their reaction would be that of disappointment and betrayal, especially from the twins, and I fear I might lose them.

My plan had backfired on me when Mateo found out that I was one hundred percent pregnant. He was furious, so angry that he took it out on me. I felt like dying.

Mateo didn't believe that I was pregnant, which brought me relief, but I realized that he wasn't going to take any chances when there was a knock on the door, which he opened, revealing two nurses that entered, pushing a machine inside.

My face went pale as I stared at it before looking back at Mateo, who stood beside the bed with his arms crossed and a blank expression on his face, "W-What's going on?" I nervously asked as the nurses kept their gazes lowered.

"They're here to do an ultrasound," Mateo replied as I frowned before trying to stand up, "What for? I don't need one, I'm not pregnant," I tried to decline while standing up, but Mateo grabbed my upper arm before shoving me down on the bed as the nurses flinch at the sudden action.

"Now is not the time to fucking test me, get the damn thing done," he gritted through his teeth as I breathe heavily. My nerves were all over the place, I knew things would go downhill if he finds out the truth.

"Fine, but can you leave, you've already manhandled me?" I asked, hoping he would give in and leave, but he turned and shot me a death glare that sent shivers down my spine, "I'm not going anywhere, now start!" He demanded in a harsh tone, startling the nurses as they quickly got to work.

"And there's your baby, congratulations, Luna," the nurse said as we all stared at the screen that showed my baby. A deadly growl echoed in the room as tears welled up in my eyes.

"Get out," Mateo calmly ordered as the nurses looked at him not hearing at first, "I said. GET. OUT!" He yelled as they shriek before rushing out of the room, leaving their equipment and materials in the room as I lay there nervously.

Mateo began walking to the front door before he locks it. I slowly sat up, bringing my knees to my chest. I didn't speak a word.

"So you're not pregnant, huh?" Mateo asked before an airy laugh escaped from his lips with his back still turned to me. I remained silent, "Why are you so silent now?" He asked, turning around as I saw his eyes. It was the darkest shade of red that I'd ever seen.

My heart began to race as he stalked towards me, "Unity and Honesty, your words, yet if I didn't have this ultrasound done, you would've lied to me," he said getting closer and closer as I watched his every move. My lack of response made him angry, "ANSWER ME! SPEAK WHEN YOU'RE SPOKEN TO!" He yelled as I grew annoyed, scoffing, "If you know the truth, why do you continue to question me?" I asked as he laughed humorlessly.

"You know, I'm getting real tired of that mouth of yours, and I gave you a chance to realize your mistake, but apparently, I have to teach you a lesson on how to respect those who are superior to you," he said as I frowned, watching as he stood beside the bed, close to me.

"Lay down," he ordered as I looked at him as if he was crazy, "Get away from me, I'll never let you touch me," I said as he smirked deviously.

"Oh sweetheart, I wasn't asking."

I never wanted to die so much in my life. I felt so disgusted with myself and my body that I abandoned it. Days passed and I didn't care how I looked and smelled. I refused to look in the mirror and I no longer cared for the child growing in my stomach. I just sat there curled up in a corner. I felt like an animal, who was caged and kept in the dark. There was no light, I was in total darkness, preventing me from seeing the condition of the room that was destroyed.

After Mateo raped and assaulted me, out of anger, he destroyed everything in the room before leaving me in it. I never saw him or anyone after that day, and honestly, I was grateful, I didn't want anyone to see me in this state. I felt embarrassed.

I no longer hear Kamari's voice, it was as if my inner wolf had disappeared. I was very weak and couldn't even walk. I had no voice from the all screaming, and my body ached. The smell of dry blood filled the room, reminding me over and over of the tragic torment that I went through.

And at that very moment, I wanted to die. I wished that I fell asleep and never woken up again.

"Little flower?" I jolt awake as the familiar voice and name filled my ears. The room was still pitched black as I tried to see something, anything, but it was just darkness.

Maybe it was my desperate wish, maybe I was dying.

"You're not dying, my love," tears filled my eyes as I saw a bright light floating towards me before it began to form into a figure, a figure that I soon began to recognize, a figure that I wanted to see so desperately.

I wanted to cry out of her, but I couldn't, my voice wouldn't come out. It was my mom, she was here.

"Oh, my little flower, what has he done to you?" Her voice was filled with sadness as she moved towards me. I felt embarrassed as I looked away from her, "Don't do that, Rosalie, I'll never look at you differently," she said in a gentle tone as I looked at her with tears streaming down my face.

She quickly took me in her arms, immediately soothing my aching wounds as I sighed in relief, "Alright, my flower, I'm here," she cooed as I sobbed on her shoulder, "H-He ruined me, mom," I cried as she caressed my hair, "I can't do this anymore, p-please take me back with you," I pleaded as she pulled away from me before cupping my face.

"I'm sorry, darling, but I can't do that, you have so much to live for, what about the twins, and your baby," she said as I looked at her before looking away, "They hate me, mom, I betrayed them, and I don't even know if I'm still pregnant, there's no way the baby survived after the things he did to me," I said as more tears rolled down my face.

"They don't hate you, Rosalie, you were trying to protect them, and your child is still there, your wolf is protecting it," she said as my face lit up, "Kamari?" I asked as she nodded with a smile on her face, "Yes, Kamari is releasing her energy, using it as a barrier to protect your pup," she explained as I frowned, "But why can't I hear her anymore?" I asked as my mom sighed.

"It takes a lot of energy to do what she's doing, so Kamari went into a temporary slumber," she said as I slowly nodded, "How long will she remain like that?" I asked as my mom smiled, "Until she is sure that your pup is out of harm's way," she said as I sighed in relief before thinking about the past events, "Things are hard mom, the twins want to leave," I said as she looked at me with sad eyes, "I know, darling, but if leaving makes you and your mates happy then I advise you to quickly leave," she said as the look on her face made me nervous to ask my next question.

"Where's dad?" I asked as she smiled weakly, "He's waiting," she replied as I frowned, "Waiting for what?" I asked as she grabbed my hands, "He's waiting for Melody and your grandfather," she replied as tears began rolling back down my face. It was true.

"They're going to die."

Koa had returned from visiting Benjamin and as he returned to the house, members of the pack were shocked to see him. He looked different from how he had left the house.

Now he was covered in blood, bruises, and scratch marks, and he looked weak and exhausted. He limped weakly to the door as the members outside guarding, rushed to help while they yelled Mateo's name.

Mateo exited his office as he heard his name being yelled, "What is the meaning of this?" He asked, stepping out of his office, to find his adoptive brother, standing limply against two of his pack members.

"Who did this?" He asked, moving to his brother's side before taking him against his body, "Benjamin, he sent the twins after me, I was going to visit Indie, but before I could, the twins got to me," he said as Mateo's jaw clenched in anger.

"Benjamin said he'll come after anyone that belongs to the pack until you free his granddaughter," Koa weakly said as Mateo's eyes darkened.

"Then I guess I'll have to fix that problem."
