Chương 54: [CHAPTER FIFTY ONE]

Previously on Avenging Angels

The plan to trigger Matilda's memory works out and the girls find out what actually happened on the day their mother was murdered.

FIFTY-ONE

I never knew I was on the floor until I felt a wet liquid on my shoulder.

I looked to my right to Lily beside me with her blue eyes filled with tears. I turned to my left to see Iris, crying, as well.

They were both holding on to me like I was the thread to their sanity.

"Was...was there anything distinct about the man? Did he have something out of the ordinary?" I asked with a shaky voice as I couldn't hold in my tears too.

"He was tall, dark and his eyes were the definition of death. He-he had a large eagle tattoo on the left side of his neck" Matilda said as she cleaned her tears.

"Why?!! Why?!!!" Lily screamed out in agony.

"Why my mother?!!"

"Shhh, it's okay" I hugged her tighter.

"I promise, we will get to the bottom of this"

"Oh, you look so much like Rosaline" Matilda grabbed my hand and caressed it.

"Your name must be Rosaline too, right?" She asked.

"Y-yes.."

"Your mother couldn't stop talking about you that day, she was madly in love with you"

"I'm sorry..." she cried out.

I choked on my tears as used my hand to cover my mouth.

The raw pain and torture I am going through were so much that my chest was starting to close up from all these disheveled emotions.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save her" she wrapped me in her chest as we all sobbed.

My mother, I never got to meet her.

I hold Matilda tight as though she was my lifeline.

This may not be the first time I am saying this but this time, it was the sincere statement I have ever made.

Avalor Bladderwort will pay for her crimes even it was the last thing I do before I die.

"Do you like that park?" I pointed at a green opening through the car window and Matilda nodded.

I swerved the car and parked it close to the pavement. I then helped her out of the car and onto a bench.

After the whole ordeal, I had to take Matilda back to the nursing home because it was almost time for lunch and Lily couldn't drive in her state.

But I still had to fulfill my promise to Matilda that I would take her to the park so we are at a park close to the nursing home.

I sat beside her and watched silently as she closed her eyes, taking in the sunlight.

"The weather is great today," she said with a content smile.

"It is," I said monotonously, my head drifting back to what she told us.

"Despite the outrageous amount of evil in the world, there are still some good people left, and I a thankful for that"

She took my hand and faced me as she talked.

"Rosaline, you have lost your mother in such a cruel manner and I understand your pain and grief. Fight for justice and don't be as weak as I was twenty years ago"

"I will" I promised.

She smiled and turned back to watching the park in a peaceful mood.

After a few minutes, I asked.

"My mother, how was she?" I asked quietly so as not to disturb her from her daze.

"She was breathtaking. Stunningly beautiful with a captivating personality. She was indeed special. Even though I only know her for the few months she used to visit the hospital, I loved and respected her a lot"

"She was one of a kind," she said with a wistful smile.

"Thank you. You have helped us much more than you think,"

"It's nothing compared to the debt I owe" she muttered.

"Let's go now. You don't want the nursing home to come looking for me, huh?" she stood up with a bounce and walked to the car without her wheelchair.

I rolled the wheelchair back to the car and hopped into the driver seat after tucking her in.

The drive back to the home was silent and comfortable. A light tune was playing from the radio and we took solace in the funky tune.

I rolled her in through the backdoor after checking the area.

I walked as steadily and casually as I could. Not wanting to draw any unwanted attention.

But as I got to the hall her room was located, I saw someone in a nurse uniform standing there.

Oh, no!

My heart dropped.

"Where are you coming from? All patients are supposed to be asleep by this time so why are you with her?" He asked and his tone wasn't sweet at all.

Brain, now would be a nice time to think.

Before I could think of what to do next, Matilda fell off the wheelchair and to the ground as she began to hyperventilate.

"What happened? Can you hear me?" the nurse rushed to her side and I peered to see what's wrong with her.

Her chest was rising and falling too fast and she kept on gasping for breath.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a sly wink being slid my way and I nearly chuckled out loud if not for the concerned nurse.

Matilda kept the nurse busy as I used the opportunity to sneak out of the nursing home.

Thank you, Matilda.

"Pour me another cup" Mr. Bladderwort ordered and I poured tea into his cup.

After dinner, the Bladderworts were having tea time and as usual, I gagged at their stupid family moment.

After getting back from the nursing home earlier this afternoon, I completed my leftover work and thankfully nobody questioned me on my whereabouts.

We prepared dinner on time as usual, but William wasn't at home, and up till now, he still hasn't gotten home from work.

His parents have asked of him several times but they have gotten no response.

"Why is William taking so long at the office? He usually calls when he has extra work" Avalor asked as she looked over the room with a sigh.

But something was off with her, she didn't seem worried at all. Instead, she looked relaxed and rather happy.

I wonder what the she-devil is up to now.

At that moment, the front door was opened roughly and then shut with a loud bang that we all jumped from shock.

Angry footsteps stormed upstairs without coming to greet any of us.

Avalor relaxed into her chair and sipped her tea with a smirk on her face.

Everyone was confused and surprised by Willam's weird behavior except for her.

Something was up with Willam and Avalor knows what.
