Leah's POV
It was morning, Steve was gone, Dana was in the room, and Franklin was drinking his coffee with cookies and butter while listening to jazz.
I also had coffee.
- "Thank you very much for staying at your house, tomorrow we will leave because we cannot be in hiding all our lives."
Suddenly people noises are heard everywhere.
- "Franklin! Franklin!" said a man's voice.
Franklin opens the door to the house.
-" What happen?" he asks the boy at the door, who was wearing black pants with suspenders.
- "Leah, there's a huge crowd of people outside!" Dana yelled
I ran, adjusted the antennas on the TV and turned it on.
It was a message from President Lyndon B. Jhonson speaking through the Civil Rights Act that enacted the right to vote for people of color.
I went to the room where Dana was and looked through the window.
-" Oh, my God!" said
- "Your father has done it!" Said Dana
- "We can vote!" said Dana
- "I can't believe it, Dana!" I said.
- "I want to go outside!" I said.
- "Leah, don't do that, they can't recognize you"
- "Among so many people here they won't be able to see me, don't worry, they won't recognize me, I assure you."
-"Come with me please!" I said
- "I don't know ... I'd rather stay here and tell me what you saw." Said Dana
I went to the living room of the house.
- "Congratulations, Franklin, you can vote!" I said
- "In a few years you will be one of the first people of color to vote!" I said.
- "Can I go out for a while?" said
- "Yes, but don't go too far"
I put on a hat from the shelf by the door and a long coat.
I went out and saw how happy the people were, everyone was screaming, singing and dancing. Many had posters defending civil rights. In one corner I could see a blind man smiling at the things he was hearing, I went to where the blind man was and gave him some coins that he had.
- "We can vote" I said whispering in his ear.
- "This is only the first step." he says
Then I went to Franklin's house.
- "Dana, this is the best time to go." I told her.
-"I think so."
- "But what will happen to Steve?"
- "I'll tell Franklin that I explained everything to him."
We said goodbye and hid among the crowd of people and held hands so as not to get lost until we reached our homes.
- "What will we tell our parents?" Dana told me when we got to my front door.
- "I don't know ... something will occur to us." I told her, then she says goodbye and goes to the front house.
I took a deep breath and opened the door to my house.
-"Hi there!" said
- "Leah! "Said David amazed and gave me a hug.
- "Mom, Leah is here!" Said David.
- "Leah!" said my other little brothers and ran to hug me.
I entered my house and I saw that my mother was in the living room, watching television, her face was pitiful, for all the exploitation she experienced. I started crying and she cried too.
- "Leah, for a moment I thought you had died!" He said crying.
I hugged her.
- "My father has succeeded ... We can vote!" I told.
My mother didn't tell me anything, apparently she didn't want to ask me anything and that's why I decided not to answer her.
I went to my room and fell asleep.

George's POV
There was our entire bargain sheltered, we were at one of our meetings, Greyson had not yet arrived and Blackbeard needed him for our training.
- "Where is that imbecile ?!" Blackbeard said.
Suddenly Greyson appears.
- "Excuse me boss, there is a huge crowd of people out there, they wouldn't stop shouting, it's one of those strikes that Martin Luther King does."
- "Make sure it doesn't happen again because the next time you're late, I'll shoot you dead." Said Blackbeard and continued with his speech.
- "Do you want to survive in this world ?!" said Blackbeard
- "This is the only way to live!"
- "We are like chess pieces, we fight for ours."
- "I assure you that whoever is not with us is against us."
- "People are crazy, they believe that justice is won with peace, but no, life is not like that, the white man is the enemy, all our lives we have been marginalized, but we are stronger."
- "Our women rape us and mistreat our children!" Said Blackbeard.
- "To work for a black is to be a slave of whites!" Blackbeard said and I nodded.
- "They exploit you and keep the rest of the money, but WE, WE get what we deserve."
- "... Those nightknives have been trying to take away what is ours for a long time, but; We will fight to the death, because that is being a Blackjack! "
- "We are stronger!" Said Blackbeard.
- "We are stronger, We are stronger, We are stronger!" We all said as we put knives and pistols in our pockets and bundles.
- "We are stronger!" we repeated this phrase over and over while training.
