Lin Qianyi looked at Deputy Chief Ou impassively. It was all self-evident.
Deputy Chief Ou met her eyes and sheepishly averted his gaze.
Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, he forced a smile and hurriedly nodded. "Yes, yes. Ms. Lin, you're right."
He treated Lin Qianyi respectfully but was not so deferential toward Father Xia and the rest.
Deputy Chief Ou turned and immediately assumed a fierce expression. He glared at Father Xia and the rest.
"You have purposely twisted the truth and tried to place the blame on Ms. Lin. Now that we have proved Ms. Lin's innocence, I think you should apologize to her."
"On what grounds? She's just a poor, common girl! Deputy Chief Ou, why are you so scared of such a lowly girl?"
Failing to learn her lesson, Mother Xia blurted out again without thinking. She pointed at Lin Qianyi as she scolded loudly.
Deputy Chief Ou's face turned black as his authority was once again challenged.
