Ye Fanxing has kept her part-time job a secret from Gu Yuzhe, but not from Zhao Jiaqi.
Because she wanted to maintain a bit of dignity in front of her boyfriend, however, she believed she could trust her friend.
She turned towards Zhao Jiaqi, hoping that Zhao Jiaqi would help explain her situation.
Zhao Jiaqi saw Ye Fanxing looking at her and walked over, taking Ye Fanxing's hand. "Alright, Xingxing, haven't you been wanting to break up with Gu Yuzhe? Now that he's brought it up himself, you should agree! This way you won't need to keep finding excuses to avoid him."
She spoke while holding onto Ye Fanxing's arm, gently shaking it in an affectionate manner.
"..." Ye Fanxing was not stupid, she quickly realised why Gu Yuzhe had misunderstood her actions as avoiding him, why he would think she wanted to break up with him.
She looked at Zhao Jiaqi in disbelief, pushing her hand away, "How could you slander me like that?"
"Alright, I am slandering you." Zhao Jiaqi said: "It was me who stopped you from seeing Gu Yuzhe, alright!"
Zhao Jiaqi's words only made Gu Yuzhe more disbelieving.
"What else do you have to say now?" Gu Yuzhe coldly looked at Ye Fanxing, obviously completely believing Zhao Jiaqi's words.
Ye Fanxing didn't know how to explain herself, with Zhao Jiaqi's testimony, she was left speechless.
At this moment, Mrs. Zhao came out, worried that Zhao Jiaqi hadn't come back. Upon seeing Gu Yuzhe, she warmly said: "Yuze is here, please come in."

Ye Fanxing looked at Zhao Jiaqi who was left behind, her heart felt cold, "You purposefully let him misunderstand me, didn't you?"
Zhao Jiaqi said: "You and Gu Yuzhe were never suited for each other, you two are from different worlds. Look at you, Ye Fanxing, you spend every day working multiple jobs, you can't even afford decent clothes. Isn't it embarrassing for you to stand next to Gu Yuzhe? Actually, I think your mother also wants what's best for you. What can someone like you do after graduating from university? Everyone's fate is decided from the moment they are born. So, you should just find someone and marry them early!"
After saying this, Zhao Jiaqi went inside and closed the door, leaving Ye Fanxing alone under the scorching sun, she couldn't help but laugh.

In the afternoon, Ye Fanxing took the bus back to Nanchuan.
Nanchuan is a tourist area, it is scenic and many city dwellers have holiday villas here.
Her neighbour, Auntie Li, had previously introduced her to a job cleaning one of these villas.

The owner of the villa is a man who uses a wheelchair, Ye Fanxing had only met him twice.
In Ye Fanxing's eyes, he was a peculiar person. All other villas in the vicinity were vacant, but he still stayed here.
As soon as Ye Fanxing entered, she heard a crash in the living room.
She walked in to see him in his wheelchair, a water cup fallen on the ground, and his finger cut.
Seeing this scene, he didn't seem to panic, he just looked at his bleeding hand calmly, as if he was watching a scene unfolding.
"Sir, are you alright?" Ye Fanxing walked over, quickly swept the broken pieces off the ground and looked at the man.
