I split off into the trees after that. Letting Goliath take his way down. While I scaled my way down the walls. There were tunnels in the walls as well. At first they were small, but the further I went down the bigger the tunnels got.
My wings twitched as I debated on jumping off the wall to glide down the rest of the way, but the lack of wind down here was disturbing. Any wind that did come was headed one direction, and only one direction. The wrong direction. It was so silent in the canyon as I climbed down the walls. The walls were scorched.
I stepped down off of the walls onto the floor of the canyon. I just walked towards the light like Goliath had asked. My wings were tucked in close as my instincts screamed danger.
"Creepy," I whispered to myself.
I kept my head on a swivel as slunk forward in a silent prowled. The smell of fire, and death surrounded me. My sense of smell wasn't that strong so the fact that I could smell it was bad. There was almost no break between the tunnels at the bottom, and every single one of them was big enough to fit a cruise ship. I strode up to the light where Goliath told me to meet him.
Goliath spotted me with his goggles when I reached the edge of the light. He walked up to me, and pointed down one of the tunnels.
"That's the one we're supposed to clear," Goliath dropped his arm.
"How can you tell?" I slunk in a little closer to him.
I closed off my connection to Savannah, and Ethan. I didn't want them to feel my fear. I rarely felt fear, and being down here was terrifying me. I looked around quickly, and realized that that tunnel wasn't the one I wanted to go down. The one I wanted to go in was behind us.
Goliath started to grow in size as I turned around slowly. I switched to infrared. There were living creatures down there.
"Nix?" Goliath looked at me funny, "What are you doing?"
His voice getting louder as he got bigger.
"That one," I started walking forward slowly, "That's the tunnel I'm looking for."
"Wyatt," Goliath's tone became angry, "I only agreed to you coming down here if you came with me."
The pull had gotten a lot stronger since I'd come down here. The wasn't just instinct anymore. Something was calling me. I looked back at Goliath as my magic began to flow through me more freely. The streaks of color on my scales began to light up slowly as the my elements came to me willingly.
As if they wanted me to go. I rushed forward. The smell of death fell away first. My heart pounded in my ears as my fear fell away, and an odd sense of clarity filled my mind. Whatever was down that tunnel. Whatever stood in my way.
Nothing would stop me from getting to it. Not even Goliath. I took off at full speed suddenly. Goliath shouted at me as I ran away from him. His anger wasn't a deterrent for me here.
Not with something calling me forward so strongly. I charged head first into the first beast that blocked my path. Breathing lightning into him until it burned clean through. Five more beasts attacked me angrily. I bit the first one as I froze everything near me.
The ice wasn't enough to kill them, but they were frozen to whatever ground they'd been standing on for a second, and a second was all I needed. Lashing my tail out like a whip. The strike landed splitting open a line in its flesh. I breathed out a burst of cold air much stronger than than my freeze zone right into the beasts wound. My wings flared as I roared.
I slammed both wings into the frozen beast in front of me. Breaking large chunks off of it. It's head broke off. The one I'd bitten writhed in pain as it slowly turned to stone. I switched to wind, and used wind to blast the last three that were standing away from me as I kept charging forward.
Ignoring the beasts behind me as a dozen beasts that looked like a cross between a scorpion, and spider rushed me. I breathed ice onto them. The slowed, but it wasn't enough to stop them. I inhaled, and switched to lightning. The lightning didn't do much better as it skittered over their exoskeleton, and into the ground.
Killing the non bug beasts that were behind me. I snorted angrily as I flared my wings again. Growling at them as they stomped their legs on the ground angrily. I rushed forward anyways. I wanted to rush past them, but they seemed to want to block my path.
There was something behind them that they wanted to guard at all costs. Bug type beasts tended to guard their nests, and not really care about anything that happened outside of their nest except when they were hunting. I breathed ice onto them again. Even if the ice itself didn't hurt them it would at the very least slow them down. Ice started to form on my scales forming little ice blades at the edges of my scales.
It was an idea I'd been thinking about for some time, but until this moment of clarity I hadn't known how to do it. My wings flared as I rushed forward, and tried to bury my teeth into one of them. My teeth bounced off its exoskeleton. One of them broke free of the ice, and buried its fangs into me. It stabbed its front pair of legs into me.
Warning user has been poisoned.
My limbs got sluggish as the beast yanked its legs out stabbing me again. What kind of poison system?
Paralytic. Analysis has begun.
Son of a bitch. It got harder, and harder for me to move as I tried lashing out. I tried to tense my muscles, but they weren't listening to me anymore. Adrenaline stopped me from feeling pain as I started trying to heal myself. I got stabbed another two times by both front legs. My head was starting to get foggy from the blood loss.
