Chương 38: Test of Power
They both nodded and Professor Oak said, "Yeah he is right Birch, we should give him a chance to prove us, if he pass then we can add him in our laboratory."
"Test ? What is this test ?" Asked Jason in confusion.
"You will see that, let's go back to field." Said Professor Oak with a smile.
All three of them went to the field which was in backyard of laboratory. Jason was following other two and was still confused about their test. They reached near a plain ground which looked like a battlefield and professor Oak told Jason to stay on the other side ok the battlefield and he stood on opposite of Jason.
"You will have to battle one of my pokemon and if you are able to impress me enough by your power then we will let you join our laboratory." Said Professor Oak and threw a ball in air, a red dragon pokemon appeared from the ball, it was final evolution of Charmeleon, it was charizard, this charizard was thrice size of average charizard. This was a complete beast.
This charizard was too powerful and Jason can conclude from his aura that this pokemon was on Champion Level.
Professor Birch acted as referee for the match and he said, "This is battle between Professor Samuel Oak and Jason Wood, this is 1 vs 6 battle."
Jason sent out his first pokemon, it was Lairon. "You can go all out here, so show me your full potential." Said Professor Oak.
"Lairon use Rock Slide followed by Earthquake." Said Jason. Lairon covered itself with dark brown aura and big rocks above charizard started falling on him, Lairon used a powerful Earthquake, as Charizard was standing on ground so this attack was also going to be effective. Both the attacks were direct hit and that charizard was standing like nothing happened.
"Is this the most powerful attack of your Lairon ? Are you kidding me ?" Said Oak.
"Lairon use Iron head full power." Said Jason and Lairon lowered its head which was shining bright and dashed towards Charizard. He hit directly and a small dust cloud form around them, when dust settled, charizard was holding Lairon with one hand and he used flamethrower. That move was so intense that it increased temperature of the field. Lairon fainted after taking that hit.
"Lairon is unable to battle, send your next pokemon." Said Birch.
Jason recalled his Lairon and was looking at the beast who just stopped powerful Iron head with one hand and knocked out Lairon by just one hit. Jason sent out his Gallade.
"Gallade use Calm Mind Thrice and then Rain Drop Pin attack" Said Jason and Gallade increased its stat using calm mind, then a cloud formed around the battlefield and rain started falling. Gallade used its full power to control maximum of rain drops and sent them towards Charizard. Charizard covered him with his wings and this attack continued for 10 minutes, it was double then previous battle with Maxie.
When the attack stopped, Gallade was still standing perfectly but Charizard was bleeding from many parts and even his wings had some small holes. Charizard used flamethrower and that knocked out Jason's second pokemon.
"Gallade is unable to battle, please send your next pokemon." Said Birch.
Jason sent out his Swellow and said, "Swellow use Storm Wind Cutter." This move he was practicing since last few days in his training under Jason's Grandpa.
A Blue aura surrounded Swellow and wind started flowing with full speed, Swellow used his wing to direct some wind towards Charizard which looked like scissor but Charizard stopped this attack in mid air, then swellow used full power Brave Bird which was a direct hit and gave a cut near tummy of Charizard. Charizard punched on the swellow who was just regaining after the recoil from Brave Bird and swellow was also knocked out.
"Swellow is unable to battle, send your next pokemon." Said Birch.
Jason send out his Sceptile next, "Sceptile Energy Ball and the leaf cutter." A green ball appeared in the middle of Sceptile's hand, he threw this ball towards Charizard, Charizard blocked it using one hand and before he could react Sceptile used leaf blade to slash on his body. Charizard cried in pain because Sceptile used that move on his stomach wound, that wound get enlarged a little. Charizard got furious with this and used flamethrower, Sceptile was also unable to take this hit and fainted but got gravely injured.
"Sceptile is unable to battle, send your next pokemon." Said Birch. Jason was just standing still, he saw his 4 most powerful pokemon get beaten by Charizard with ease and they were gravely injured, and still there were only some small wounds on his body and he was not much effected. Jason planned to accept his defeat as he didn't want to hurt his any other pokemon.
Riolu who was standing beside Jason, looked at him and jumped on the battlefield. Jason shouted, "No Riolu, he is very powerful for you. Come back we will admit defeat."
Riolu looked back at his trainer and a white light surrounded him, Riolu was evolving, after a few seconds a big pokemon appeared, that pokemon was 3 times in size as compare to Riolu and as per Jason's aura this pokemon was at Mid Elite level now, It was Lucario.
Lucario is a bipedal, canine-like Pokémon, with fur that is predominantly blue and black. It possesses a short, round spike on the back of each forepaw, in addition to a third on its chest. It has red eyes, a long snout and ears. When its mouth is open, two pairs of pointed teeth, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower, can be seen. It possesses cream-colored fur on its torso, and blue fur on its thighs that resembles shorts. It has a medium length tail of the same blue color as well. It stands on its toes rather than on its entire foot.
Lucario sent a small aura ball towards Jason, Jason was just looking at determination of his pokemon, after that he smiled and said, "Yeah we won't admit defeat, we will fight. Ok Lucario start with aura sphere and then extreme speed to get close to charizard and then use brick break."
Lucario followed the command and sent a Sky Blue energy ball towards Charizard and then used Extreme speed to get close to charizard and used Brick break, though those hits were not effective on charizard but atleast Jason got his confidence back. Charizard used one hand to stop the aura sphere and he used other hand to punch Lucario who was using brick break move on him, Lucario was sent flying back but Lucario stood back and was not ready to accept defeat easily. He again used extreme speed and then used Bone Rush below Charizard's feet and charizard fell on the ground, then Lucario used Close Combat. Charizard was crying in pain from this many attacks at a time, Charizard used flamethrower to send Lucario flying on the ground. Lucario fell on ground unconscious.
"Lucario is unable to battle, send your last pokemon." Said Birch.
Jason recalled Lucario, "Thanks buddy, we will never admit defeat without fighting, thanks for making me realize this." He kept that ball back in his belt and then sent out his Kirlia.
Kirlia used Magical leaf and then psychic but finally she also fainted.
"Kirlia is unable to battle, that means, Professor Samuel Oak is winner." Said Birch. Jason recalled his last fallen pokemon and looked at charizard, who had many wounds and bruises, and also was breathing little heavily compare to normal, Jason smiled as he fought against a Champion Pokemon and his pokemon didn't fear him despite his power.
Professor Oak came to Jason and said, "That was quite some battle and you passed this test. You didn't accept defeat even after realizing true power of my charizard. Welcome to hoenn branch of Oak Laboratory Jason and you are always welcome to our branch in Kanto." Jason was happy after hearing all this. He finally got his chance to join Oak Laboratory and now he can study further about his theory.
