Chương 16: Second Gym Battle
Steven sat on the spectator area. Jason and thomas took their respective position and Thomas started, "Hello Challenger, I am Thomas Cutter Gym Leader of Rustboro City, I accept your challenge for the badge."
"This is an official gym battle between Challenger Jason Wood and Gym Leader Thomas, the battle will be of 2 pokemons from each side and if the challenger defeat all two pokemons of Gym Leader then he will receive badge as a proof of his victory." Referee Announced.
"Are you clear with the terms ?" Thomas said from other side and Jason nodded in reply, "Ok, if you are ready then I will start with this." Thomas said and sent out his Sandshrew.
Jason sent out his Bulbasaur against Sandshrew, Bulbasaur is at Peak Intermediate so he can battle with Sandshrew easily who is also at Peak Intermediate level, as the rule of league says to use certain level pokemon only against the trainer of different level.
Sandshrew started with poison sting which was countered by Razor leaf of Bulbasaur.
"Sandshrew use rollout." Said Thomas.
Bulbasaur was a new member so command was required, "Bulbasaur use vine whip to catch sandshrew and throw him." Commanded Jason. Bulbasaur stopped rolling sandshrew with her vine whip and threw him twice up and down on ground and then towards the wall.
"Stand up Sandshrew and use poison sting and then Magnitude." Said Thomas.
"Dodge poison sting with razor leaf and then jump in air using vine whip." Said Jason and Bulbasaur first countered poison sting with razor leaf and then jumped in air using her vine whip to dodge magnitude but she got hit by a powerful rollout attack from Sandshrew and was unable to counter him in air, later when Bulbasaur was trying to stand up back she got another hit from rollout of Sandshrew.
"Bulbasaur quick, he is coming back." Shouted Jason and Bulbasaur regained her consciousness and stopped sandshrew with her vine whip and threw him towards the wall, then attacked with razor leaf and finished him with a Take down.
"Sandshrew is unable to battle please switch your pokemon." Said referee showing Red Flag. (Red Flag means Challenger and Green for Gym leader and if Challenger wins then Red flag is shown and same if Gym leader wins then green flag.)
"John was true saying truth about your potential, I guess I will have to test you with a tough pokemon." Said Thomas and sent out his Onix, that onix was bigger then any average onix and it was atleast 50 ft long. That Onix roared after coming out.
Jason saw that Bulbasaur was tired from battle with sandshrew so he recalled her and sent out his ace to battle a Initial Elite pokemon using Peak Elite pokemon, Sceptile.
Sceptile was one of the most trusted pokemon of Jason and he had also battled many wild pokemons on own and even protect Jason's sister from any wild pokemon attack so there was no need to give any command to him.
Onix initiated battle with Rock Slide which was dodged by sceptile by his speed and he was jumping on rocks one by one and finally when he reached near onix, slashed him with his powerful Signature move Leaf Blade, Onix cried in pain but this battle was still far from over and they knew that.
Sceptile used his quick attack to attack on onix who used rock head to send him back on ground, though the power difference in both was very high so the damage was not that much, Sceptile stood up on his feet and again used quick attack but this time to get close to onix and sneaked behind him, then used another leaf blade.
Onix was enraged by two powerful and direct hits, he used rock slide on the whole ground, if it was for any other pokemon of Jason they would have definitely lost to this beast but sceptile had speed benefit so he easily dodged the rock slide and while dodging he was concentrating on the rocks so he forgot to see the onix who used Iron tail on sceptile and sceptile was sent flying to a wall which was broken by impact, that move followed Rock Tomb and Earthquake.
Onix thought he beat sceptile so started roaring and celebrating his win and also he ignored Thomas who was saying him to focus on sceptile, sceptile removed rocks above him and came out of the pit, though he was looking in pain but he knew if onix get one more hit of Leaf blade then he is finished, so he used all his energy and dashed towards onix, who was shocked by sudden attack of Sceptile, but it was too late for him to react and got a powerful blow of Leaf blade and onix fell down on ground with swirls in his eyes.
"Onix is unable to battle and winner is Jason from Gao Village." Referee Announced.
Thomas recalled his onix and Jason also walked towards his sceptile who seemed to be in pain, Thomas and Steven both came to Jason. "You were fantastic there, I think I am still very weak." Said Steven.
"Indeed he is powerful but you also show potential of becoming a powerful trainer in future." Said Thomas handing a badge with two star on it.
"Why he has two star on his badge." Asked Steven in complaining tone. Jason was also confused with this as he also don't know what it means.
Thomas looked at both the kids and said, "If a rookie level trainer battle a gym leader who uses Elite level pokemon and is able to defeat him the he receives a badge with 2 star and if same he do against a gym leader who uses Pseudo king or above level pokemon then he gets 3 star badge. But 3 star badge is only given in presence of 2 gym leader or 1 elite four. As if a trainer have 4 two star badges and 4 one star badges or 6 two star badges then he is eligible to participate in League, where as he need 12 one star badges to participate in the same. But if a trainer has 4 three star badges then also he qualifies for the league."
After getting the explanation from Steven, Steven asked him "Then why you used elite level pokemon against him only and not me."
"This happened after 10 years when I have given 2 star badge to anyone, and Jason here had potential to beat a pokemon at elite level. His sceptile is at Peak Elite level, and my onix was at Mid Elite Level. But you Steven you just started your journey and your pokemons are max at Mid Advance level only so I cannot use high level pokemon because that will only demotivate you." Thomas Explained.
Steven then turned towards Jason and asked, "How many badges you have and when you started your Journey ?"
"This is my second gym battle and I started only 4 months back." Jason replied.
'He started only 4 months back and his pokemons are this powerful. He is really going to be a monster some day.' Thought Thomas.
Jason and Steven were unaware of his thoughts and Steven was only bombarding Jason with questions for which Jason was replying calmly.
Jason is now an Intermediate level Trainer. He met future Champion and future Gym Leader of Hoenn today. So who all he will be meeting next ? Stay tuned for more.
