Chương 20: Seeing Him For the First Time

Year 2020.

It is around the summer season. One more month before school starts.

Anastasia has just turned fourteen at this very day. Her friends decided to prepare a surprise birthday party for her at the park.

Everyone threw an outdoor picnic. They have set up beddings and tables which they neatly placed on the grassy field, picnic baskets full of light snacks, drinks and desserts, and a few party decors such as balloons and small triangular flags.

It's a day full of colors - bubbly and fizzy. Eager chatters and gushings fill the air, never ceasing even just for a moment.

The birthday girl herself is looking as sunny as the weather. Wearing a thigh-lengthened, halter neck dandelion yellow dress, Anastasia stands out like the lovely flower that she is.

"Happy birthday, Anna!"

At someone's blithesome greeting, she turns around and finds a fair-skinned girl with hazel brown irises, straigth brownish red hair that reaches her waist, and a curvaceous figure. Her features and the warm impression she often makes on others define her as a friendly person.

"Cathleen!" Anastasia beamed before earning a bone-crushing embrace from her.

"Goodness, Anna! You look really cute in that dress!" her friend chimed in again, squeezing her tightly.

"Thank you very much! I was surprised to learn that you set all these up for me. You really didn't have to-"

"Of course I do! Isn't this what best friends do?"

Cathleen is a supportive and encouraging close companion of hers.

She's the very first friend she made in class. During their first meeting, the two somehow clicked almost instantly and before they knew it, they'd been hanging out with each other most of the time.

For a while, everyone's into the joyous occassion, thoroughly enjoying one another's company. The guests, organizers and birthday girl are all having fun.

That's until one sudden arrival made the celebration take an uncalled-for turn.

"Hey, isn't that...?"

As soon as someone points at a certain direction from a distance, Anastasia and the others turn their heads to look at what it is. There, they find something they don't see everyday.

A van along with a lavish limousine parked near them out of nowhere. This is immediately followed by a group of people coming out of the vehicles and starting to set up something right around the water fountain at the center of the park.

An agglomeration of tripods, some lighting equipment, and digital cameras - a photoshoot seems to be taking place.

"Woah! A famous person is coming?!"

"Will there be a film shooting?!"

"I wonder who it is..."

"A celebrity, most probably!"

After laying eyes on such an attention-catching setting, everyone begins to stir around and spectate the next chain of events. Both Anastasia and Cathleen are also drawn to the scene, silently anticipating from the sideline.

"Isn't this great, Anna? You'll get to see someone famous on your birthday," the red head started again, glancing at her with a smile on her face.

"Ugh... Wouldn't ask for it even as a birthday gift. I'm not into showbiz, Cathleen," her friend remarked with her arms crossed, smirking before rolling her eyes.

"Even if it's a super handsome supermodel on a popular teen magazine?"

"I'm not even reading magazines."

"A Hollywood actor, then?"

"Not into TV shows or movies either."

"Girl, you might as well be saying you're living under a rock-"

"Hey!"

As the two engage in a round of banter, everyone else's attention remains glued on the ongoing scene from a distance. In each passing minute, hype and excitement continue to build up in the atmosphere.

"Okay, stop it, Cathleen. I'm not interested in this kind of stuff, alright? So, there's just no way that I'm gonna take interest in anyone from the-"

Then, she paused.

As soon as Anastasia dropped those words, she suddenly catches sight of a figure stepping out of the limousine.

A toned, lean build, eye-catching features and a jaw-droppingly handsome frame overall - a boy with lustrous platinum blonde hair and compelling crimson orbs makes his entrance all of the sudden. He's carrying the air of an affluent and influential figure despite being so young - most probably the son of some world-renowned personality or billionaire.

"Isn't that Lucien August?!"
