Right after killing the highland rats, the two decided to go back in town and sell their monster loots. However, going back wasn't easy as Denver had thought. Right after they stepped inside the town's wall, the ranking list was exactly announced. Pop up screens appeared here and there, every player's attention was caught in an instant.

Jaycee took a glance in the ranking list and mumbled, "So I'm rank first in Domestic Server and fifth in world ranking."
"Yea, good for you. I'm ranked third though."
They were wandering around town despite being busy with the ranking list. Their eyes weren't fixed on the road.
'Hanna?'
A certain username kept on bugging Denver's mind. That username was strangely familiar to him. He was deeply pondering the whole time they were walking yet he never had any idea where did he hear that username.
"This Hanna. I know I've heard this name before. That's strange …" Denver unintentionally blurted out what he was thinking.
While scrolling the world-ranking list, Jaycee impassively responded, "If it's Hanna, then aren't you referring to my older cousin? I mean, you're basically close to each other when we were still kids."
"That's how it looked to me." Jaycee added.
Finally, after hearing what Jaycee had said, memories surged like a rapid stream in an instant.
"Right, how can I forget her."
Denver's expression turned sour all of a sudden and cussed, "That sly bitch."
Denver felt a chill down to his spine as he recalled all the memories he had with Jaycee's cousin. Based from how he was acting, it sure wasn't a memory worth recalling for.
"Isn't that player Jaycee?"
"Oh! You're right! He's quite good-looking don't you think?"
"So that's him, the top ranker of our server."
"Denver is also right beside him."
"So they're friends."
"Both of the top rankers are in a party together. It's sure is nice to be in their party right?"
"You bet!"
After the ranking list was announced, all of a sudden, all players had their eyes on them. They were unaware at first but after a while, they slowly noticed how players looked at them and gossiped with one another. Of course, they are not that deaf for not hearing those loud murmurs as if it was also an intention to let them hear it.
Denver casually leaned and whispered, "I think they're all looking at us, don't you think?"
Jaycee was still busy scrolling in the world-ranking list however, he still spared him his voice and replied, "Of course they are. Seeing a talking monkey in a pirate costume sure is a spectacular sight."
Jaycee briefly looked at him and said, "Congratulations. Isn't this what you always wanted to happen, attention seeker?"
'What in the world is this punk saying?'
"What are you saying!? When did I wanted attention?" Denver leaned at him and refuted with a yell.
"…"
Denver roughly coughed as he pulled himself and said, "Putting that aside, I guess we are finally here."
Jaycee and Denver stopped in front of a large wooden tavern. The structure and the feel were identical to those Wild West taverns; at least from the way it looked on the outside. They unhesitantly entered and the inside was unexpectedly teeming with players. It was rowdy yet surprisingly organized. There was a designated place for those who are trying to create and join a guild, a place where guilds desperately trying to recruit other players, a place for accepting quests proffered by the game's system and a place where you sell your stuffs, either in auction or direct selling. As expected of the guild tavern.
Anyways, Jaycee and Denver first went into the Auction/Sell booth where there's an elf NPC who seemed to be one of the place's receptionist.
The elf NPC smiled at them and greeted, "Welcome to Silestal Town's guild tavern. What can I do for you?"
Jaycee instantly went curious. He glanced at the elf from head until where his eyes can reach and accidentally said, "Are all NPCs designed and programmed like a real person?"
The elf responded, "Actually not everyone. Several monster species can speak the human language. They might be monsters however, they can also grant you quests if you are quite lucky. In order for all the players to experience what real virtual world is, all NPCs are designed and constructed with complex, composite codes and algorithms that allow all of us to communicate with players freely on our own."
"Wow," Denver on the side had his mouth wide open.
"We may be a created by the system however, for all of us living in this virtual world; the system is what you called a God if we compared it in the real world. Basically means, the system is our creator, the one who gave birth to all of us."
The elf briefly smiled with his eyes and followed up, "So what can I do for you?"
Jaycee slightly raised his hand and asked, "Can I ask how can we get a quest?"
"Aside from daily quests and guild quests given by the system, there are three ways to obtain quests. First, there are quests you can obtain through every guild taverns located in every city or town. They are easily obtainable and easy to clear however, the reward and experience point may not satisfy the players."
The elf pointed to the far right and said, "If you go right there, you can ask the receptionist to give you a quest right away."
"Second, there's what we called a situational quest. When a certain situation arises, a sudden quest may appear and be given to you. Of course, it is up to the player whether to take the quest or not. Lastly, there's what we called affinity quests. If your affinity with an NPC is considerably high, there's a chance that he might give you exclusive quests and daily quests."
"I see. Then can I as-," Jaycee was stopped by a sudden loud slam on the tavern's door.
Jaycee and Denver instinctively looked at the source of the noise and there they found several knights wearing full plate armors entering the tavern like their own houses. Afterwards, they barricaded the pathway towards the door and formed a line on each side. The way they barricaded the door was as if a celebrity is going to walk in a red carpet premiere. Everyone was confused and puzzled on what was happening.
"Hey Jaycee, do you know what's happening? Is this perhaps an event?" Denver muttered.
"So they're here again," The receptionist's brows arched and her smile faded in an instant right after seeing the knights entered the guild tavern.
"May I ask who are they?" Jaycee asked.
"They are the knights of Baron Rael Graciano, the current ruler of this town. He was just newly appointed yet I don't know why he's doing this to the guild."
The conversation ceased for a moment after a certain person entered the tavern.
The elf instantly said, "The one that entered is the Baron."
"Eh?" Denver doubted. "That's a baron?"
"Is that how a noble usually wears?" Jaycee questioned.
That Baron Rael Graciano was far from what the two had envisioned. They thought nobles were elegant and sophisticated in everything they do however, what they saw was very far from that. The baron they saw had a muscular physique and looked like a brute. He was wrapped in torn hunter's clothing and the scars in his arms were openly visible. His hair was messily tied and from the way he stood, it wasn't noble-like at all. He just looked like a ruffian who knows nothing but swing his sword recklessly.
The elf scorned and said, "Before he became a baron, he was merely a hunter who participated in the war between the State of Afruvite and Holy Kingdom of Fascia. However, after contributing a lot of achievements in the war, the king of Afruvite himself gave him a noble title of a baron and gave him this town as his territory."
All of their attention including Jaycee, Denver and the elf was caught by a knight's sudden yell. "May I have all your attention please! Baron Rael Graciano himself wished to converse to all of you here present!"
"Greetings immortal adventurers!" The Baron shouted with an odd smile on his face. "To whoever brings me the head of the Silestal Guild Master, I'll ensure you both fame and power."
After hearing the Baron's words, a sudden quest was generated. All players present in the tavern that time received exactly the same quest.
