Chương 60: Not an excuse (Leo)

The canteen is crowded, and there's that insistent chatter that makes every word undistinguishable.

Julia is already sitting at the table, eating with the others. I'm not hungry, so I don't have any excuse to stay in line and observe how she behaves with the others. But I want to check that she's getting along with the others.

Josh and the twins are good people, and they won't be harsh with her only because of her human blood. However, it's better to be sure rather than sorry later. I've already underestimated Susan's purposes.

I tune my hearing towards the table and stand in line for the food. I'll grab something randomly, just to keep myself busy.

«Such a defensive mind... I'm wondering if hypnosis would work,» Luciana says, her tone as light as always.

What is she trying to do now?

«It's illegal!» Julia defends herself, turning her eyes away and staring at her plate with her back straight and her shoulders slightly trembling.
