Chương 53: Chapter 17, A Village!

"Me a slave trader!? How preposterous! Materials are better off used than enslaved!" I object.

After spooning the elf, I acquired not only one of his eyes but an insult as well!

"Nevertheless, you attacked...ngh....us so I attacked you..." he said while groaning in pain.

According to the elf warrior, they seem to have a cease-fire with one of the Human kingdoms, Anarnias. However, the reason as to why the war stopped baffled me.

"Hm, back on the war topic. Who was this person that stopped this war?" I ask?

Presumably, it was an S-Rank adventurer whose race is neither a Human nor an Elf that stopped this, it is honestly the most textbook answer.

Adventurers who are S-Rank are depicted as Demigods in Seralia, having powers such as being able to bring down a dragon with a single arrow or even threatening a whole country itself.

Thankfully there are very few of them in this world and most of them aren't tied down or are even pawns to countries, well at least back when it was 2 years ago.

"Well... I don't exactly know who it is but there are rumors that it's the fairy tale monster... The Bringer Of Destruction" The elf said uncertainty painted all over the man's face.

"The Bringer Of... Destruction? You mean the Servant of The Beast Of Chaos?"

"No, it's Turi" He corrected me frankly.

"Roberto bite his fingers"

Roberto hops over to his left and nibbles down on his pinkie. The man, of course, let out a small scream which is followed immediately by an un-audible screaming.

"You may stop now Roberto"

"W-what the fuck was that for!!?"

"For joking in the middle of an interrogation! Do you really expect me to be an idiot? Just because I am an undead doesn't mean my intelligence is equal to that of an infant!.

"Moreso, You expect someone such as I, who is leading 7 carriages to go through this blasted forest, to believe a fairy tale monster told by their mothers to scare disobedient children stopped a war that has been going on for decades!"

"Well... If you put it that way then I guess you do have a point. But that's all I know"

This man is useless.

Although the sin war was indeed real, The Humans won due to the Gods bringing down their wrath down upon the Demons who poured out from the gates, not because some fairy tale monster.

There is however another version, of the war told by bards. That version includes a monster named Turi, told to be an angel of death and destruction, who had fallen from Lysnylia.

The story goes by her being banished and sent to Seralia to redeem herself by eliminating all of the demons present, and sure enough, she did.

How she did eliminate the demons however was ludicrous. The story described her flickering a spark of fire magic from her fingertips, and that single spark eliminated the whole horde of demons who slayed millions of soldiers whilst still having time to laze around on the battlefield.

And not just that, the story even mentioned that she gazed at a demon in a far far away land and eliminated it with that gaze alone.

And regarding her being an angel, I had been to heaven and none of them knew an angel named Turi, but, oddly enough, they know the name despite it being a human fairy tale story.

"Hngh... I don't know whether you are pretending to be uninformed or you are just another pawn with good talent. Well, I suppose it is time for me to spoon your other eye"

"N-no! Wait! Waaait!!! I- i uh... I can tell you where..." He hesitantly begged.

"Tell me where? Oh! Perhaps there is an elven village nearby! Although the elven body is flimsy and weak-"

I pull him closer by grabbing his neck.

"The blood you elves have may allow me go have undead mages!"

°°°°

For such a brave front he pulled when I first met him, never have I thought that he would be this big of a coward.

Leaking information of where his home village is located so that I wouldn't spoon him, how cowardly.

I would do the same however.

But now comes my next ordeal... How can someone such as I, with a headless Wendigo by my side, be able to bring down this elven village in front of me.

I may have underestimated the elves a bit too much.

Despite the village being small in comparison to the bustling city of Galan, I see not a single water source such as a river leading inside or just even the the village.

I managed to defeat Galan by pouring large amounts of Solesthemia into the river leading into it which, of course, led to it infecting the wells, latrine, and many other water based commodities made inside.

Because of that, I managed to destroy it from the inside without lifting a finger... Well I suppose I did lift a few gallons of Solesthemia.

But this time however... Is different. There are no rivers, water sources, or even wells located outside the village, if there were I would only need to send one of Roberto's family members to go in and sacrifice itself for the cause of alchemy!

Unfortunately that won't be happening, no matter how grand it may sound to them.

"Hmm, perhaps I should leave the village as is, although I have an army of hungry rodents... I do not think it is worth making the whole forest our enemy" I muttered.

A full frontal assault on the village using only Roberto and his family would undoubtedly secure me a victory, hopefully speaking that is. But our enemy this time had something we do not.

"A Strorhinus horn..."

The horn would be the greatest variable of trouble were I to engage them in combat. A Strorhinus horn is an emergency tool mainly used by soldiers, knights, and guards to call for reinforcement. The sound produced by the horn is as loud as thunder, thus, if there were other elven villages nearby... There is a high probability of them coming for this village's aid.

Even if we were to win a decisively fast battle against this village, there's little to no time for preparation for the first wave of reinforcement... Nor will there be time to hide to ambush them.

We would be sitting ducks for them considering that most elves, including the guards guarding the village entrance there are Archers.

"Not to mention the village is built above ground, hanging onto the trees"

I sigh in disappointment, knowing it is impossible to pillage this village. I look to Williams, holding up a pair branches on each hand, covering his face to hide himself whilst watching the village.

I, of course, am doing the same thing as to not get discovered.

"Williams! It is unfortunate but there will be no elven meat for you today" I declared as I slowly tiptoe away from the bush I'm hiding behind from.

Unbeknownst to me, a twig nudged open an exposed vial of Solasthemia from my bag, spilling out its contents to the grass where it slowly adapting to its surrounding environment by infecting a nearby insect that is unfortunate enough go near its puddle.

As I arrived at my carriage, so did Solasthemia at the elven village. The beetle that it had infected knew of my will of wanting to pillage the village, declaring it as an order given by me despite me retreating and giving up on the village.

The beetle then sacrificed itself into the well located in the middle of the village by the will of its infector. Now the infector has a new vessel where it can mass produce itself indefinitely once gulped.

And sure enough, an elf boy grabs a bucket full of water from well... Bringing Solasthemia with him to wherever he is hurily going.

"Mom! Mom! I have the bucket!" The boy said with joy in his eyes.

"Thank you Niel, you can pour it all down the cauldron, today we're having mushroom stew" The mother said.

And thus, Solasthemia had infected the stew despite it having been boiled in hot water.

°°°°

A day has passed since Sol had left the village alone, and Solasthemia had infected all of the elf boy's family members which in turn, infected the other villagers which in turn infected more villagers.

The one who showed Solasthemia's first symptom was the Elf boy's mother who's skin has started becoming paler and becoming extremely weak under the sun. The rest of the villagers are still in normal condition despite them already being infected by the Undead Plague.

The Grass around the villagers has also began to wither as the puddle of Solasthemia from the day before had been absorbed into the ground, infecting not only the plants, but the critters below it as well.
