Chương 41: WS: Dungeon Illusion [2]
The news that the wealthiest He family had found their son soon circulated around the wealthy circled and did anything to take a glimpse of this child. Of course, the rumors of an adopted son are included which heated the discussion.
Both Kaizer and Eugene were put in homeschooled temporarily.
As they only had each other, Euegene soon decided to move on and tried to let some of his fears and leaned on Kaizer in everything. Eugene finally trusted Kaizer despite his doubts and fear of being abandoned soon by Kaizer's parents.
"Lu Ming."
Eugene run towards the kitchen when he saw the son of the head butler.
"Young master?"
Eugene held his [LM] hand and put an embroidered handkerchief on his[LM] palm which makes Lu Ming stare at the expressionless face of his young master dumbfoundedly, wondering why his young master gave him such a thing.
"It's a thank-you gift. The cookies are delicious."
"Young master you don't need----"
"What are you doing?!"
Lu Ming flinches and steps back when Kaizer suddenly appears and snatches the handkerchief from his palm. Anger is visible in his [KH] eyes full of warning but when he turned around and looks at Euegen, it became soft as if he expresses nothing but doubt.
"Euegene are you giving someone something again?"
Eugene nodded his head.
"Why?"
"Thank him. He gives me delicious cookies."
Kaizer tighten his grip on the handkerchief wishing to tear it up but still smile sweetly and patted Eugene's head, saying: "Didn't I tell you not to give someone presents? Some people don't like it and would just throw your sincerity. Did you remember that boy next door who throw what you give and run away? Never come back? Eugene, gifts make people take it for granted and act bad towards you, taking advantage of your kindness and leaving you."
"I don't want you to be hurt again."
Eugene's eyelashes trembled and nodded.
"Well...I won't do it again."
"It's good."
After that day, the son of the head butler was sent away. They said that the masters pay for the head butler's son's admission to a school that offers a dormitory so as to not travel back and forth and accumulate a high amount of expenses. The offer given by the He couple is too good that the head butler accepted it without much thought and thanks Kaizer for thinking about his son's future which Kaizer replied with a welcomed tone.
Lu Ming, who left the He mansion gained trauma and decided not to go back.
He doesn't want to face that person anymore.
Eugene once again lost someone he can talk to and came back to his usual routine of following Kaizer everywhere to avoid boredom.
The He couple is good towards Eugene and always spoiled Eugene with too much love since he's a child full of trauma. They wanted to heal Eugene so that once he attend school he can communicate normally and not be isolated. However, days, months, and years have passed but Eugene stays the same which confuses them.
Mother He wanted to bring Eugene to the hospital again but Kaizer would throw things and get angry, saying that his little brother is not sick.
This made Father He ignored the request of Mother He, saying that the child will come out of his shadows soon and just let him. Mother He knew that his husband just doesn't want to anger Kaizer, after all, no matter how much they spoil Eugene, Kaizer is still their priority. Out of guilt for their carelessness, they wanted to give everything that could make their son happy.
Hoping that in the future, they won't be hated.
The routine is still the same...
Five years have passed and now Eugene is ten years old while Kaizer is fifteen.
Kaizer's possessiveness didn't change but got worsened which made Mother He worried that... Eugene once growing up refuse his brother's attention and rebelled. So Mother He has no choice but to lecture Eugene to always listen to his brother and avoid trouble that could anger his brother. That's to also raise their favorability from their son and not ignore them.
Eugene obeyed Mother He's words.
After all, he is thankful that after all those years, he still wasn't kicked out of the house.
Even if he is isolated in school because his brother won't allow him to talk to others, he doesn't care as long as his brother is happy. After all, only in this world, he can live such a long time without dying instantly. It's so rare that he wants to grasp such an opportunity to rest his soul from traveling light years.
"Eugene did you talk to anyone today?"
Eugene just came back from school when his brother approach him.
"Brother? Did you not play with your friends?"
"It's good. We can play next time. I wanted to accompany you today."
Eugene sigh: "We just spends time yesterday."
Kaizer ignores Eugene's statement and drags Eugene to the sofa saying, "No matter what, my little brother is the most important. I can't just leave you alone."
Eugene put down his bag and accepts the juice that his brother gave him.
"So, did anyone talk to you?"
Eugene shook his head: "No one, I'm not popular like you."
Kaizer's dark eyes bore onto Eugene's face, his smile turning wide: "How could you say that? My little brother is the most beautiful. It's those people who envy you. However, as long as they don't bully your brother won't care about them."
Kaizer grab Eugene's bag and opened it.
"I'll help you with your homework."
"No, brother I---"
Before Eugene could finish his sentence, Kaizer who pulled out his books paused as a pink envelope fell on the floor causing silence between them.
"Brother---"
Kaizer picks up the envelope and scans the outside: "You say you're not popular?"
Eugene just sighs, "I don't know who put it in my bag."
He's been throwing things that could possibly anger his brother but he didn't expect someone to slip a letter inside his books. Just why do girls love to put things on boys' bags without their permission? Now his brother saw it, he'll get scolded again.
If Kazier is in a bad mood, Mother He will be disappointed in him.
He doesn't want that to happen.
Mother He is such a good and warm mother to him.
It's the first time so he treasures them so much that he is always obedient to everything.
"This thing is dirty."
Eugene watched his brother tear the letter with cold eyes.
"Next time whenever you receive this kind of filthy thing don't open it."
Eugene sighs: "Yes, brother. I'm sorry. I'll check my bag before going home and throw unnecessary things. Don't get angry."
Kaizer just look at Eugene coldly and hugged his little brother tightly.
"Don't misunderstand brother. I just care about you. People always dislike you secretly and whenever you show them kindness they would leave you. I don't want you to be hurt. Once is enough, I don't let anyone do it again."
"Hmmm."
Eugene hugged back his brother and whispered: "I know. Brother thinks the best for me."
Kaizer laugh: "As long as you're a good boy I won't be angry."
Eugene spends his time doing homework with his brother and taking a nap together. When they woke up, it was already dinner. Mother He and Father He is waiting in the dining and once see them, she smiles brightly and told them to seat and eat, as she especially told the chef to cook their favorite dish which warmed Eugene's heart.
"Today is a special day because Eugene scores top in the exams once again."
Mother He clap cheerfully while Father He nodded in satisfaction, showing his proud expression. After all, with two talented and smart sons, who wouldn't like it?
Father He: "Because the two of you are doing well, you can ask everything and I'll buy it."
Eugene's eyes lit up.
"Father I want a cat."
Kaizer's smile froze and slowly disappeared as he slams his hand on the table angrily.
"You can't! Animals are not allowed!"
Anything that grabs Eugene's attention is not allowed to exist in the house!
Father He and Mother He fell into silence.
Seeing his son's mad expression and ups and downs breathing, Father He couldn't take it so he look at Eugene helplessly and offered: "Well, animals can't do. How about a car? Your brother already has a car, don't you want one too?"
Eugene shook his head.
"No, father it's fine. Since a pet is not allowed can I just have a necklace?"
Mother He was relieved: "If you want jewelry I can call the owner of Elegante to customize one for you. I'll make sure it's the best quality and the most expensive so you can boast."
Eugene didn't like showing off but Mother He whenever she buys him things always wanted him to boast around and act like a young master should do so no one will look down on him for being adopted. It's enough to make Eugene feel appreciated as he knew that Mother He really treats him as her own blood-related son.
"Mother there's no need. I want to go to a shop and personally chose one."
"Well then I will accompany---"
"I'll go with you." Kaizer smile at his mother and said, "Mom, I'll go with Eugene. You should rest at home since you work too much like a father. I'm afraid we already don't know where to spend your money as you give us too much."
Father He snorts: "Nonsense! It's just a small amount."
Eugene shrugged at Father He's arrogance.
After dinner, Eugene came back to his room and take a shower to sleep. When he go out of the shower he already saw his brother sitting on the edge of the bed while holding a hair drying waiting for him. He immediately remove his towel and sat on the floor between his brother's legs to let his brother dry his hair. And yes, this has been their routine since then so he just got used to it. He didn't dare to question his brother or make him stop the habit.
"Brother, are we going tomorrow?"
"No. I'll go to the company to train and you're not allowed to go out without me. We'll just go the day after tomorrow. I'll buy anything you want."
Eugene didn't complain.
"Then brother can you buy me pudding when you get home?"
Kaizer turn off the blower when Eugene's hair dried up and pull Eugene to sit on his lap, hugging his little brother's waist, saying..."Good. I'll buy anything you ask as long as you're obedient."
Eugene just hummed.
"Brother, you go and take a shower."
"Let me hug for a minute, brother feels drained at school and company."
Eugene wrapped his arms around his brother's neck and rest his chin on his brother's shoulder. He wonders when did his brother started to get paranoid that everything around him is carefully inspected and chosen for. But he actually never complains because everything that his brother did is what's good for him.
His brother is always right.
His brother's doubt is always real.
This is why he rarely encounter accident because his brother protected him.
He wanted to slowly let go of his past and live in this world. He can do that as long as he doesn't die. He really hopes so, so he can still spend time happily with his adopted parents and brother. At least the affection and love he wasn't able to receive in the past is now can be felt by him.
So, please...He's begging the heavens who curse him.
Please let him rest in this world even just for a few years. He'll accept death after fulfilling his cravings. Just this once, he is wishing that in this world, he can live normally.
With his brother and adopted parents...
Without thinking about his next death and wondering how the next world will be.
Just please, just this time...hear his plea.
In that way, he can still turn a new leaf and pay for his past life sins.
Please. Don't kill him.
Let him live in this world and rest his never-ending sinful soul as all he wanted after those thousands of years of traveling is redemption. He's hoping that this world would be his last saving grace. Eugene wouldn't mind believing the god's who deprived him of everything as long as they acknowledged his entreaty.
"Brother..."
Eugene hummed: "Don't leave me, brother."
Kaizer's dark cordierite gray eyes reflected the sliding door of the room's balcony, full of unspeaking emotions as he hug his little brother as if he was holding his whole life. Eyes full of obsessions and possessiveness.
"Eugene, brother won't leave you so must never try to leave me hmm?"
If you do...I'll kill you.
