Chương 72: Daffodil's

Lumian gave him a proud look. "You are correct so far. I was the one who insisted that Deric should come here with us. In this enclosed forest I wanted to observe his intentions. But that was not the only reason. He is a talented kid. If he really is on our side, then he would prove to be a great addition."

"Deric is that talented?" Eru whispered in awe.

"Powerful, very powerful. I had not seen a kid like him in my life. So are you. You two have a power that is only mentioned in our myths, soul power. It is said to come from within your soul itself." He paused dramatically, letting his word sink in.

He then continued, "Deric has immense amount of soul power, similar to yours, but it's more intense," Lumian whispered with a frown. "His powers shine brightly like 'vera'. But there is a tinge of darkness I see that lurks behind the light. That's why I'm sceptical about him."

Eru silently listened to his words and whispered, "I'm powerful like you?"

Lumian chuckled and pulled him up to his feet. He patted the fallen leaf off of his clothes and gazed up at the foggy sky. "You, little Eru, are more powerful than me. Your potential lies here," he patted his chest, "you just need appropriate training and one day, you power will shine brighter than 'Vera'"

Even after listening to him, Eru was still submerged in disbelief. 'It's impossible, I'm not that powerful. I can't even kill a chicken, for goodness' sake. I'm just a normal human reborn.' He thought, nodding to himself.

Suddenly a small thought occurred, 'maybe, my soul is powerful because i'm reborn.' But he did not voice this conclusion out. Silently he tottered behind his uncle, clenching the book firmly in his arms.

After walking for a while, his uncle stood next to a clearing. It was filled with flourishing green grass that was fluttering and waving to the wind. Eru was slightly stunned. This place seemed familiar to him, but he had never once in his lifetime visited a place like this. Holding his aching head, he squatted down.

Worried by this, Lumian held his shoulders and gazed into his eyes. "Eru, what is wrong? Your powers are going haywire,"

Eru shook his head at him. The book he held tightly slipped and fell on the wet grass. His heart was painful, as if remembering something painful. He clenched his teeth and held on. 'What is this weird feeling, ah, my heart hurts. Am I having a heart attack?'

"Master, I think I'm sick," he whispered.

Lumian frowned even more. He took his pulse and gazed at him weirdly. "You are not sick Eru but....you need to calm down. Your soul is fluctuating so rapidly," he whispered worriedly.

Eru panicked even more, listening to him. His eyes went blurry and he could not feel anything on his clammy skin. It felt like he was being frozen.

"ERU! Hang on!" His uncle's vague shout sounded as a whisper to his ears. He lifted him up and dashed somewhere.

As Eru was being carried, he saw a vivid bouquet of white daffodils lying silently on the grass. "Rebus...." he whispered, holding his hands out.

Lumian patted his face. "Eru, what's wrong? Who's rebus?" but the kid in his arms kept holding his hand out to the air as if he was trying to grab something.

Eru's eyes had turned blank. The kid dizzily sat up. He glanced to the side and his eyes went wide. He suddenly squatted down and patted the grass. "They...they disappeared," he stuttered anxiously searching through the grass.

Lumian held his shoulders and gazed into his blank eyes. "What disappeared, Eru? Tell me," he said in a soft tone.

"My daffodils. They are gone, Rebus gave it to me," the kid whispered in a weird tone. He then glanced at him and whispered, "My child, he disappeared, my daffodil is gone," he cried. Drops of shimmering blue tears streamed down his cheeks. But as they reached near his lips, they all vanished like fog.

Lumian's got extremely anxious. He sensed a weird fluctuation in his nephew's soul power, but he did not expect that it might turn hi delirious. He held his wiggling shoulders in a firm grip.

But the kid kept wiggling and squirming.

Without any other option, Lumian slapped him hard. "ERU! Snap out of it!" he shouted.

Eru gazed at him and blinked rapidly. His eyes had become clear and shimmering as it used to. He held his cheeks and whispered, "Uncle, why did you hit me, huh? I think you might have knocked my teeth loose,"

Letting out a sigh of relief, Lumian hugged him tight. "Kid, oh my god, you are back."
