Chương 57: Volume 3 Episode 7: Hostage

"W-What are you doing? Are y-you going to k-kill me? I'm telling you, you are making a serious m-mistake…. P-Please don't kill me. It wouldn't be g-good for you as well. So w-why don't we ju-"

"Why don't you just shut up for now?"

Lin interrupted the stuttering Thomas, holding him from the back, grabbing his neck in a tight hold and pressing the pen a bit more to the skin. Thomas was screaming for his life inside his mind, but he kept quiet because of Lin.

Lin then searched through his pockets and grabbed a smartphone. He then gave the phone Thomas, who looked at Lin confusedly.

"Call your bodyguards."

"W-What?"

Looking at the puzzled and scared Thomas, Lin continued.

"I said call your bodyguards and arrange a car for us to get out of here. Right now."

Lin pointed to the phone in his hand, indicating to make the call quickly, and Thomas, scared of the consequences if he didn't do what he told him to do, called his bodyguards almost immediately. While that was happening, Lin tried to get in touch with the system through his mind for the rest of his plan.

'System, you can detect if the enemy is making a call or if there is a sniper hiding to take a shot at me, right?'

[ Yes boss, I am inside the communication networks of this world. I can figure out if they make any calls and report to you instantly. And don't worry about potential sniper threats. I can detect the sniper before they make a shot. You would just need to dodge before they make the shot. ]

System answered all of Lin's questions, and he nodded his head, satisfied. He then pulled Thomas closer, who was still in the middle of the call, and whispered.

"Tell them they have 3 minutes to arrange the car. No traps, no setups. And definitely no calling the authorities, unless they want to see the son of their boss dead. Tell them what happened to Mr. Luis, in case they don't know the gravity of the situation."

Thomas nodded frantically at Lin's order and spoke to the bodyguards on the other side. From the looks of it, their bodyguards were taking it seriously, as the system did not alert him of the enemy making any calls.

'Oh yeah, system, can you show me tutorials on how to fly a private jet?'

[ Yes boss. I'll put that on the screen in front of you. ]

Lin wanted to use his perfect memory to memorize how to fly a private jet. It wouldn't be as easy even if he memorized it, as practical training is necessary for learning how to fly a plane, but he had to make do for now.

It seemed as the talk with the bodyguards had gone without a problem, and a young caucasian man stepped inside the classroom. He looked at the unconscious and injured 'Mr. Luis' on the floor, and his eyes widened for a second, before returning to normal.

"The car has arrived. It is parked right in front of the entrance of the school."

"Right. Well then, why don't you get back so that I can move out of the class with my hostage?"

Lin looked straight at the young man, and the young man stared straight back.

"Are you sure you want to do this? Because you are going to regret it."

"Yes I am. And no, I'm not going to regret it."

Lin answered immediately, and the young man moved out of the classroom. Lin walked out of the room with the hostage, Thomas, still in his grasp.

The bodyguards were standing outside, but were too afraid to approach or attack Lin, fearing that they'll somehow injure the young master. Lin was also extremely careful of not showing any weak spots, and moved slowly to get to the entrance. Suddenly, the system which was staying silent suddenly spoke.

[ Sniper detected! Location is the rooftop of the second building north of you. ]

As soon as the system alerted him of the sniper, he looked straight where the location said the sniper was. Lin was outside of the classroom and in the hallway, and he could see multiple buildings through the window in front of him.

His mind was already working faster than any human, which meant that he could find out details much faster than normal people. He only needed a fraction of a second to see where the sniper was located, and what the possible route of the bullet would be. All of this happened in a matter of milliseconds.

The sniper, who had no idea that his target had located him, shot the bullet. The aim was the target's left shoulder, which was visible even while using Thomas as a shield. The goal was to catch Lin off guard, causing him to lose his grip of Thomas due to the impact of the bullet, which gives enough time for the bodyguards to take him down.

But Lin had already predicted the path of the bullet, and just before the shot was fired, moved a little to the right without showing himself, while moving Thomas a bit towards the left.

The bullet moving with high velocity pierced through Thomas's shoulder, causing him to scream out in pain and agony.

"AHHH!! IT HURTS!!"

The bodyguards too were surprised at the outcome. Not only was the target fine, but their young master, whom they were supposed to be protecting, had gotten shot by one of their own people.

"Wow, I can't believe you guys had the balls to shoot your young master. Is he that big of a pain in the ass back in the house as well? Although, I don't think it'll be worth it though, because your boss certainly won't be happy about that."

Lin, who was still holding the crying Thomas on his neck, was now trying to taunt his opponents, who were in fact, pretty infuriated. But they were extremely scared now, as they had injured the young master. They certainly wouldn't be trying to sneak attack any time soon after that mistake.

"Now that you've taken out your anger at poor Thomas over here.."

Lin pulled Thomas even closer, pushing the pen a bit more as blood began to flow, making the bodyguards even more anxious.

"...Why don't we get inside the car quickly? I'm itching to go for a ride."

"...."

The bodyguards looked at each other. They couldn't do anything. The young boy who wasn't even fully grown yet, had left no openings for them to attack. The one attack they tried failed miserably, even injuring the person they were assigned to protect.

They couldn't take this lightly. The young man who seemed to be the leader of the assassins, stepped in front and pointed at the other bodyguards, instructing them to move back, and nodded at Lin.

In a few minutes, Lin had reached the entrance of the school and saw the car parked close to the door. There seemed to be no one in it, and Lin carefully entered the car with his hostage, shutting the doors.

The young man entered the driver's seat, causing Lin to pull Thomas closer to remind him to not get any funny ideas. The young man stayed silent without answering, turned on the vehicle and took off, leaving the school with hundreds of students poking their heads outside, wondering what the hell just happened.
