Chương 69: War 7

One week has already passed from when we start harassing the Governor's forces.

After our two successful raids on his scavenging teams, Paul and Alexander led our soldiers on another five assaults win every single one of them. But these assaults weren't without bloodshed from our forces. While it didn't seem to matter on a larger scale, the loss of six good men and women hit us pretty badly as they were our friends.

I didn't even hesitate when Paul told me if we should bury or burn them. I choose to give them a proper farewell and thank them for their sacrifices. Every single one of us knows that someday we will day so that our friends and families to live a better life.

On the other hand, the Governor lost fifty-one guards as he calls them and after our last assault, he wouldn't send anyone outside of the safety of his walls.

Well, at least that's what he thinks. Our inside man, O'Brian has already gathered thirteen people under him. When Ivan and Maria met him a second time, he introduced to them his second in command, a black woman, how carries a katana with her. The woman was a bit skeptical about Ivan and Maria, but after O'Brian explained to her how the duo saved him from his imminent death and Ivan's plan, she didn't drop her guard, but she was ok with the plan Ivan want to implement.

The plan was quite simple, O'Brian and his people will take care of the guards that were put all around the warehouse where the tank was parked, while Ivan and a team of five will enter the town with the help of our inside people and from there they will sneak towards the armory and take control of it. While this happens inside, I will lead the assault against the town when Ivan will confirm their success and if everything works how we want, Woodbury will fall in a single night with minimal losses on our part.

Reviewing our attack plan, I noticed something that may or may not bring us more troubles than we can take care of. If by some pure bullshit, the prison got somehow attacked when we won't be defending it, we would most likely lose this war and too many people will have to die.

"Eric, we are ready. Maria returned with news about the attack."

"She's back? That's good, tell me, Andrew, what news did she bring back?"

"They are planning to attack us in two days. Also, the Governor starts killing the people how don't follow his ideas. Twenty-eight people were killed in two days and from Maria told me, the number of people how to think that the governor became crazy increased in this week."

"I looked over our assault strategy and I've got to say that you guys are geniuses with how planned every single move is."

"I may not be an active soldier, but I had my fair share of combat when I served, while the rest of our higher-ups fought at least once in combat or against the zombie's hordes. And while our troops aren't proper soldiers, they will fight better than any greenhorns that guy may have in his so-called army of guards."

"That's true the quality of our troops surpass the quality of most of the guards and they can be a mistake as soldiers that served in the army, not veterans, but they can pass as normal infantry troops."

While we were comparing the quality of our troops, Alexander rushed inside the room. Turning our heads towards him, I saw that he was in a hurry to report something.

"We… have a huge… problem, sir! Ivan was discovered and the whole resistance is bunker down in the warehouse and in the armory. The guards didn't dare to force their way in, but giving them some time, the governor will surely force them to rush and subdue our people. We have to attack now!"

This news fucked every single strategy we had for Woodbury and its people. It doesn't matter anymore.

"Inform every single one of our troops, we are going to attack Woodbury ASAP. We have a good damn team out there waiting for us! "

"Roger, sir! "

"Eric, Jorah is waiting outside for you. I made him some armor and the bear become a mini tank with how armored he's right now."

I just nodded at Andrew. For a good amount of time, I left Jorah on his own or in the care of people back home, but now that he grew, I can take him with me.

When he saw me, Jorah rushed towards and just as he was about to crush me, he stopped. If that didn't shock me, the next thing he did fry my poor brain. Jorah stood on his two hind legs and with one of his front paws, he did a military salute.

While I was shocked, I heard someone laughing from behind me. Turning my head towards the source of the noise, I saw Beth and Maggie laughing while Paul and Glenn were trying to keep themselves from laughing at me.

"At ease, soldier. And you guys how in the name of All-father, you managed to teach him that?"

"While you were away, Jorah followed us in some mission and learn from us a lot of things. Heck he even learned how to fight against zombies and how to evade their attacks. The little guy you left has already grown in a big killing machine."
