It took some time to gain consciousness, but he had done so in seething pain. Jets of hurt streamed from his head towards his spine and across every nerve endings on his body. Humming sounds rattled the inside of his skull, while he could hear nothing for the next few minutes. All he saw was blur for five minutes, accompanied by images slowly beginning to fall into place.
Memories of what had happened before his fall eluded him briefly, but they soon began to flood through, causing him more pain and bringing him more anguish.
"That woman is crazy!" he thought to himself without realizing he had said the words out.
Without getting to his feet fully, he reached for the back of his head and felt a large bump with a cut running along the area he had been struck. Stroking it brought pain, but blood continued to ease out from the gaping wound.
