Through the snow we stayed quiet.
Still nighttime, our trek home was enveloped in darkness, illuminated by the moon.
"You think this guy can survive in the cold? Or were just gonna give the guy a human popsicle?" Lennox mockingly asked.
The man kept walking through the cold, not shivering, not even a slight shiver.
"He's weirdly compliant with us, he didn't struggle at all." Mary with suspicion in her voice told us.
Did they learn from what happened before? We got many of them while retreating or in the middle of it, now they all ran away easily before we could find em. Hell they even blew up their entire mine, as if it was just as disposable as that. If they can blow up that whole thing perhaps they can do the same later on, blow up an entire town they held perhaps.
"Wanna ask him some questions beforehand?" Thalia asked the team.
"For now we should just head to the base first, we were told to get intel and a hostage, dunno about interrogating." Sebastian replied.
"Still shocked that you and your boys just blow up an entire mine easily, stupid idea in my book." Lennox spoke, this time speaking directly to the hostage.
"Lennox don't aggravate him, it's no use."
"Doesn't matter how many times you attack us, we'll just come back anyway with more numbers." The man said, in a cold tone.
"Why is that huh?" Lennox continued talking. The man didn't respond.
"Lennox damnit just stop talking to him." Sebastian, annoyed, ordered Lennox.
"Fine..."
I walked through the deep snow, difficult to see afar now in the dark.
This entire trip was just eerily silent, the most combat we had was at the carts, i was expecting a larger battle since it's a big mine. Weird.
"I'd kill for another hot coco again." Thalia remarked.
"We'd all kill for that right now." Mary replied to her.
"You think they're giving hot coco when we get back?"
"Let's just see."
"Man i miss that hot coco." Thalia continued.
A cold dark walk through, the man continued being silent, not doing as much as a shiver. Must be experienced with the cold.
In the distance, peering through the snowfall. I can see light, so much of it. Hope that's the building.
Soon. We reached it, that building of light, the base were supposed to return to. We step nearer to the gate of the building, all around flashlights from rifles illuminated ground below the patrolling guards.
"It's the mercs.....With a hostage as well, alright i'll notify the boss you're here." The guard opened the gate to us, stepping inside, other patrolling guards stared at the hostage we caught. Keeping extra eyes on him.
The man came out the door.
"Ah, you got a hostage along with alot of intel i presume, our guards will bring the man inside, all of you head inside." 2 guards grab the man, one pointing his rifle at the hostage while another moved behind him, the 3 went inside the house first. Don't know where they're going.
We step to the doorway, shaking our boots before entering. Inside it felt warmer, i lowered my weapon down. Inside, warmth hit us quick, people continued working even in the dead of night.
This is shorter compared to the chapter later on, apologies for it being short, rest assured the next one will be alot longer.
