The mansion's inside was huge. The first room was hall, with doors on each side. The decorations were lavish. Paintings on the walls, different carvings in the doors and the place had a coffered ceiling, which showed fighting elfs.
"This is really beautifull!"
Flinn's face showed a little bit of smile. He seemed proud of the place.
"Thank you for the compliment. But you've only seen the entrance, wait untill we get to the dining room!"
A fairy flown to them and bowed to him. He was wearing a suit, like the butlers usually wear. He looked like a mini elf, except for the wings.
"Welcome back master! Everything was fine in the mansion, while you have been away!"
"Thank you for your hard work. Lead my new secretary to his room."
The fairy turned to Joseph bowed and held his hand into the direction of one of the doors.
"Right this way please!"
"Thank you!"
They walked to the door and the butler opened it. It lead straigh into a room with a bed, a desk with a chair and writing equipments, a wardrobe, a chest and a large window in it.
Joseph was supprised. He didn't expect for the door to lead to a bedroom, from the entrance. When he looked back he saw Flinn walk in an other door. So he turned to the fairy instead, while walking in.
"I'm Joseph Smith. It is a pleasure to meet you!"
"My name is Fay and right back at you!"
He was happily flyig around in the room. It seems that without Flinn around he wasn't that serious. Joseph almost started to laugh at him.
"Could you tell me about the mansion and how did we get to this room from the entrance?"
"Of course."
He stopped talking and layed into the bed. After a minute Joseph stopped waiting for an answer.
"And could you tell me why is that."
Fay chuckled.
"Yes-yes! It is Maaagic! Hahaha!"
He flew up in the sky and then to the door opened it and flew out, closing it behind him. The outside looked different again. It was a hallway with more painting in it, but Joseph only saw a glimps, before the door closed.
"What was that about? Oh well. Let's look around."
The bed was soft and comfortable. The desk had two drawers and two doors on each side of it, so he could place things into it. It was almost empty, only papers were, ink and a quill were on the top of it. The wardrobe had multiple clothes, most of them were suits and underwears.
'Back to the suits I guess... I always hated them, but whatever.'
He tried on a few of them and they fit perfectly. Even the ones that were small or big for him got adjusted as he tried them on.
'Magic even for the simplest clothes as well? This seem a little bit excessive.'
After that he lied on the bed and instantly fell asleep.
He woke up to someone knocking on the door. He quickly got out of the bed and answered.
"Yes?"
It was a woman answering to him.
"I'm the maid of the house. Master Flinn sent me to call you for dinner."
"Alright I'll be ready in a minute!"
He got on one of the suits and opened the door.
A pretty, but gloomy faced elf in maid uniform was standing in the door. The door opened to a the same hallway he saw last time.
"Please follow me!"
As they walked through the place he saw even more doors on the sides of the hallway and the pictures. They were all elfs, but they all seemed different. The floor was covered by a red carpet with diffrent yellow shapes on it. The lighning of the place was with something in the ceiling he couldn't see.
He had the feeling, that he shouldn't talk with the maid for some reason, like she was very hostile towards him.
She opened the door right across the hallway. It went into an even bigger room, than the entrance. It was very bright and lavish. One of the bigger walls had windows all across it and it was covered with very expensive looking curtains. The Floor was covered with the same carpet like the hallway. The walls had even more pictures, some of them looked like were painted from the same person. There were multiple tables in the dining room. At the most beautifull one five ancient elfs were sitting and waiting for something. Before them were all kind of food made from fruits, vegetables and meats.
'They have meat? I'll be able to eat it again!'
The other tables were different. They had the same food, but different people were sitting at them. One of the tables was for people, who looked like gardeners, one for the maids and the butler and a last one for people, who worn clothes like Joseph was wearing.
'Where should I sit? Maybe with the ones who has the same clothing as me?'
He wanted to ask the maid, but she allready sat at her table. He decided, to sit to the table he thought was his place.
The one sitting at the end of the elf's table stood up. Suprisingly it wasn't Flinn, but a tottaly unknown one for Joseph. He looked just as old as the others.
"I would like everyone to listen to me for a minute before we start to eat."
It seemed like saying this was more like a tradition, than an actuall call to the people of the mansion, because everyone was already listening silently. He started to speak with an expressionless face.
"My friend Flinn brought grave news to us. Our loved Leafa passed away two days ago."
Everyone looked sad by this, even the people sitting at other tables.
'Seems like she came here occasionally, or something.'
"She was killed by one troll, that was unique one of it's kind. First thing tomorrow I'll put a huge bounty on his head. I hope that everyone here will spread the news that, if someone can bring us the head of that troll, I will personally reward him!"
There was a huge gasp from everyone hearing this, but noone dared to say anything.
'This elf seems really influential, if he could get everyone nervous.'
He stopped for a minute and waited to let everyone get a little bit calmer.
"There is an other new thing as well."
He looked at Joseph with the same expressionless face, but he felt infinite pressure on him, like if he just looked at him wrong, he would die in an instant.
"Master Flinn found a new employee for himself. He is a human, who became the secretary of his. Please treat him with the needed respect for his job."
'Needed respect? What does he mean?'
"Now let us begin the feast."
They started to eat the different foods on the table. There was dead silence the whole time they ate.
'It is definetly a thing to be in silence eating. I should never say anything, or I might get punished.'
Flinn walked in front of him.
"Joseph let me introduce you to the head of the house and his wife!"
"Alright!"
Flinn lead him to he person, who spoke before diner.
"Mr. Cley and Ms. Lean let me introduce you to my new secretary Joseph Smith!"
Joseph bowed to them, just as the butler bowed to Flinn.
"I'm Joseph Smith! It is an honor to meet Mr. Cley and Ms. Lean!"
Cley looked him from up to down.
"You seem quiet well behaved."
'What?'
His wife walked closer and stroke Joseph's hair.
"You look like a little pup, who doesn't know his place yet. Don't worry, you'll get used to this place."
'WHAT?'
They seemed friendly, but a little strange for him. Then both of them walked away.
"We will meet tomorrow. Have a rest until then!"
She said farewell to him.
"Have a good rest Mr. Cley and Ms. Lean!"
Flinn laughed at his awkwardness.
"You don't have to worry that much. You know they are really kind, but they are nervous around new people. Also. Noone talks to them, everyone uses telepathy."
"But I can't use it."
"I know. But we will help with that. Now I'll teach you how to use the house."
They went back to the entrance.
