Somewhere in Zeeland
(unknown time)
The problem with creating a blast furnace was that I needed coke. There were two problems with this. Number one was that I didn't have much of an idea on how to create it, and the second problem was that I was pretty sure that to turn coal into coke, there had to be an absence of oxygen. The only possible way to do this that I know of is to use a steam engine to pump out the air in some way. I didn't have a steam engine yet, so coal coke was not an option for fuel.
I continued to try to create a blueprint for a furnace without coke, but due to my limited knowledge of the subject, I couldn't reach high enough temperatures to melt iron.
My only option would have to be making a blueprint of the steam engine first and then create the engine with the resource molder. I learned from the system that the current molder tool was less than perfect, so my first steam engine would be pretty weak in strength and much more massive than what I wanted.
"System, how much do you estimate it would cost to create the parts for the steam engine?" I asked.
{The current price for the parts for your steam engine is 1,500 SP}
"Well, I guess I am going to have to wait until I can create the steam engine," I thought, "I probably would not be able to use it in the country for a while anyway. It would be bizarre for a two-year-old to create a novel and complicated machine such as this."
After that, I finished the steam engine blueprint. I decided to use one of the simpler designs that used the pressure of the steam to push a piston. I don't think I can create a steam turbine yet, and I don't even need something like that right now.
I decided to create the compass and the steering wheel for navigation next, as they were not invented yet, and were somewhat easier to produce compared to the steam engine. I also wanted to create these to help make trade routes faster and safer. I would probably need resources by the ton in the future, and I wanted it to be easier to achieve this goal.
The reason I want to create as many blueprints as I can right now is that I don't have anything to do. I still have about a week until I will enter the world, and I don't want to waste that time.
For those wondering, I am still in the womb. It is entirely black and a little tight. My body is male and seems to be similar to most infants at birth. My muscles are still developing, so I am having some trouble moving, but I think I will be just fine.
Since I don't have any missions yet, I am going to wait until then to make a developed plan. All I know I want to do is get away from the capital to have some of the secrecy and the mobility to do what I need to do. I don't want any nobles, or worse, royalty to try to use me or condemn me because of my inventions. That would probably stop my most needed, but controversial ideas from taking form. I need to abolish the class system for goodness sake!
Sadly, I couldn't make any more blueprints since I didn't have the knowledge or the capability to do so. I guess I could create a design for a gasoline engine, but that is so far into the future it is irrelevant.
I spent the next two weeks trying to make the most of my time by planning and looking through the last of my memories. It was tough for me to know that I was wasting valuable time that could I could have used to have made plans without scrutiny from anyone.
Finally, two weeks later, there were only a few hours until I would be free from this cramped space. I could already feel the contractions slowly pushing me out.
*Ding*
{Alert: you will be entering the world in several hours. You should prepare yourself for this event.}
"I think I already knew that, System," I commented rudely, "It's not like I feel it or anything, though."
The system was starting to annoy me a little. Couldn't it have just told me about the event instead of blaring a loud alarm in my head? I already knew that I was about to leave before the system told me.
Several hours later, the contractions were getting much stronger and faster, and I could almost feel the fresh air on my face.
Finally, I was out. My body felt so refreshed from the air in what seemed to be an open room.
As I opened my eyes for the first time in this world, I saw an unfamiliar woman staring back at me.
Hi, SunkenSpaceMan here. Henry will finally explore the world as he has left his small dark home (teaser: his name is also Henry in this world as well). The action will soon begin!
I am aware that the chapters have switching verb tenses, and I will be working on it in the future. The next chapters will likely be of better quality.
Thank you for reading the fourth chapter!
