The Alpha of the Caeruleus Genus Clan invites us to his floor. We sit in armchairs In his temporary office, which was identical to mine. Except he put pictures out on the desk of his Luna, son, and pup.
"Luna Viola looks gorgeous." I comment on the photo of the three of them together. "Is this Unda?"
"It is." He smiles at the picture.
"She would be ten now, correct?" I smile. I met her when she was just born.
"Eleven next month." He nods in agreement. "You know my son Indicum. He's about your age. I think a few years older."
"Of course." I smile at the memory. We used to brawl each time we saw each other. Loser had to wear a dog collar to dinner. He wore it more than I did.
"Remember the time you two got caught dueling with real swords?"
"I still have the two inch scar where he nicked me." I laugh. "I didn't have my wolf then to heal me."
"You two must have been younger than 10 I'm sure!" He chuckled. "Indicum will be here tomorrow to watch the tournament and be a part of my crew. He obviously can't participate until he takes over as Apha."
I hadn't seen Indicum since... well, since before my parent died. I wondered what he looked like now. Was he still an annoying little twerp?
Caelum coughed loudly ending our short, but meaningful, trip down memory lane.
"Right, to business then."
"Alpha Nimbus, our clans have had accords since the beginning of time." This was an exaggeration but he smiled giving me the confidence to continue. "I propose we continue this partnership. We would love you to join us this fall for a banquet in honor of our time shared fighting together and coinciding peacefully."
Caelum presented our gift. A deed holding acres of land that adjoined the Clan Caeruleus Genus property.
"Of course we will continue to ally." We made the blood oath and drank from Alpha Nimbus' goblet. "How did you acquire this land?"
"It was a pack member's human relatives. They left it to him when they passed away. He is loyal to the pack and doesn't foresee any reason why you all shouldn't have it."
"Thank you, Alpha Regina." We smiled at one another. "I look forward to our continued alliance."
We shook hands and departed.
Back in my room Praesul exploded.
*Just because he can't feel our connection doesn't mean I can't!*
*He who? Nimbus? You think he's our mate too?* I laugh mercilessly.
*Alpha Rex!! Did you see how his silver eyes shone in the light of the sun? Isn't that a sign???*
*I can fix that. It would only take a few phone calls and we wouldn't remember Rex's name let alone our connection.* I challenge. She whimpers loudly and I soften. *You know what the Elders said and what Niveus warned. Use your head.*
*Fine* Praesul stopped communicating but I could feel her aura. She was distraught and pining. I could feel something else but I didn't know what it meant.
*Whatever your thinking, don't do it. You'll regret it.*
She pulled away and I left her to sulk.
With only a few hours before dinner, I put on training gear and set off to find Caelum. He was in his room blaring loud music.
I decided to mind link him instead of knocking the whole door down.
*Answer the door.* It wasn't a command but he answered immediately. He was in boxers.
"Put some clothes on. Let's spar."
He groaned but obeyed.
