Chương 20: TGP: Invitation
In the next day, a lot of invitations were sent to the De residence.
Among them was an invitation from his Majesty.
Amm De and Lady Lhi were all looking at Li Amm as she slowly opened the scroll.
Li Amm read it silently.
Then she closed it after a minute.
Her parents looked at her worriedly.
'Did our majesty want my daughter to be a concubine instead?' - Father Amm De
'My daughter was not going there to be executed right? My husband said that little Li did a good job.' - Lady Lhi held her beating heart.
The two were worried for different reasons.
Then they saw Li Amm grinned from ear to ear.
The two gasped.
'It's worse! It's worse than I thought!' Amm De and Lady Lhi had the same thought.
"My child, come here. What did the emperor say? Why he sent an invitation to you?" Lady Lhi wanted to put Li Amm on her lap. She wanted to embrace her from all the dangers of the world and to keep her from destroying the world as well.
Amm De sat beside Lady Lhi. What kind of things did the Emperor say to make their Li Amm smile scarily like that?
"Oh~ Her majesty wanted to have a chat with me. His majesty said he wanted to personally talk with me and be closed with Her majesty." Li Amm answered in a cheerful manner.
Amm De and Lady Lhi got paler.
"W-why even Her majesty? Amm De! Tell me! Did something happened at the banquet?!" Lady Lhi scolded Amm De. ' What scary things our daughter has done to irk even Her majesty!'
"Wife! I don't even know why!" Amm De also felt sorrowful. 'Why Li Amm gets the attention of Her majesty! Her majesty was scarier than His majesty!'
Li Amm doesn't understand why these two peeps were overreacting in a friendly invitation. She spoke gently to console these two.
"Mom, Dad, the Empress finds me funny and wanted to befriend me. Here. It was said in the letter." Li Amm even pointed out that part.
But to the two, those words got another meaning.
Translation: The Empress got offended by me. She wants to kill me.
The soft-spoken Lady Lhi cried. Her daughter! Her precious daughter! She knew that her daughter might have done something not so-appropriate in the banquet. This was the main reason why they kept Li Amm hidden!
Li Amm was shocked seeing Lady Lhi cried.
"Hey, Mom, are you hurt?" Li Amm supported Lady Lhi who was already mourning for her loss.
"Dad! Mom is acting strange!" Li Amm turned to Amm De. But Amm De's expression of the world has gone mad and his murmur greet her.
"This is my retribution..my retribution...my daughter..what cruel fate.." Amm De murmured while keeping himself to not cry.
Li Amm was really stunned. 'What's happening with these two? Are they so afraid to let me go to the palace? I will be a good girl!'
Li Amm kneeled on the floor to wipe the tears of Lady Lhi.
"Mom, Dad, I will be a good girl. I will not steal anything or try to wander at any place. I promise." Li Amm even drew a crossed sign in her chest.
"If you are still afraid that I will mess things up, then you can send Aunt Shao Mei. You know, I can't disobey Aunt Xiao Mei." Li Amm said to console the two.
The two's expression became better. At least with Shao Mei around, they would be at ease. They knew that Aunt Shao Mei was brave to fight with words with Her majesty. And Shao Mei could also run to them and report before the execution started.
The two finally allowed to let Li Amm go. Actually, they don't have a choice but to let Li Amm go since it was an invitation from His majesty.
However, later that evening, a mighty general barge in without any notice.
"Wangfei!" Li Amm who had just put the grape in her mouth while being massaged on her feet almost got chocked by the figure who came out from the window.
"Cough!Cough!"
"Wangfei!" Ren Shou helped Li Amm while patting her back.
"C-can you come through the door?" Li Amm said. She almost died there.
Ren Shou did not answer her as there were still matters at hand.
"The emperor will summon you tomorrow?"
Li Amm drank first the water that Xiao Mei gave to her first before answering Ren Shou.
"Yeah, got a problem with that?"
Ren Shou looked at her with complex emotions.
"Don't worry. I will send some of my men to protect you." Ren Shou promised.
Li Amm waved her hand.
"There's no need. The Emperor would not kill me in daylight. And also, why all of you assumed I will go there to be executed?" Li Amm really wondered why. The letter was so friendly. The Emperor or the Empress did not glare at her.
If she ever created an enemy in that banquet, it would probably be the crown princess. But Li Amm was confident that she treated the crown princess nicely.
"The Emperor doesn't have a sane mind. He could kill people without batting an eye. No matter which position those people have or even it was his family. He is that cruel." Ren Shou explained. He witnessed first hand the cruelty of the current Emperor.
Li Amm then remembered their talk that day. She sighed.
She was not that afraid of the Emperor. Maybe because she was exposed to the presence of big figures in her past life. Or maybe, she felt that she was not Li Amm De, a living being in this world. Her mind and beliefs were still that of Liam Drelavine.
She was not really afraid.
"Relax, kiddo." Li Amm patted Ren Shou's head.
"This grandma had lived longer than that old man. Just trust me. I will survive." Li Amm said with confidence.
Ren Shou looked at her confused.
"What kiddo? And your only sixteen. Don't call yourself grandma."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm always sixteen at heart, with the mind views of 96, and with the body of..." Li Amm halted. She was sixteen now, so her body was sixteen?
"- with the body of sixteen." Li Amm continued.
Ren Shou stared at her. "I don't know what to say."
"Nah~ don't worry. If I don't come out after the moon rises, then go and barge in the palace."
Li Amm said these to ease Ren Shou's worry.
"I plan to do that. But I will still send some of my men to pretend as your servants. Please let me do this."
Li Amm sighed again. That's not really necessary.
"Fine."
Ren Shou then nodded and prepared to leave.
"Ahm, you can use the door." Li Amm reminded him of the existence of the door.
Ren Shou turned around.
Li Amm though he was going to exit through the door. But he went directly to her.
"W-what?" Ren Shou was so closed to her. Ren Shou's pheromones made Li Amm, this granny with a body of sixteen flustered.
"Stay still." Ren Shou's baritone voice was exuding sexiness.
"Y-you know, we are not yet married. Even I have the views of 96, I will not allow you too-" Li Amm then closed her eyes when Ren Shou closed their distance.
But after a moment, she felt a slight heaviness on her hair.
"I modify it. This is my first token of love for you."
Ren Shou whispered on her ears.
Xiao Mei who was watching the scene squealed silently.
