Chương 24: Explain Please Part II
"Emily, If you don't want to come out yet, then you don't have to. Take your time. Based off of what you've told me about your family they'll love you no matter what. You have all the time in the world to figure out your sexuality, and there is no specific age that everyone is supposed to know. Everybody is different, and that includes you. Don't feel like you have to conform if it's not who you are. Who you really are, not just this image of a person that you feel like you need to be." She sighed, made eye contact with Emily, then continued.
"I am...not even close to perfect." She chuckled. "I don't have anything figured out, and my life is a mess too. But guess what?"
"Hm?" Emily replied.
"Our lives are allowed to be a mess. We aren't supposed to have all of the answers right away. We're not perfect alone, and that's why we have each other. Why we have families, friends. We are supposed to rely on others for support, and eventually we don't have to do that as much as we do now."
She sighed and cupped Emily's face before speaking. "My point is, if you ever need someone to talk to, I am here for you Emily. I always will be. No matter what happens." She softly kissed Emily's lips, then pulled away.
"I'm gonna grab a shower. Get a movie ready?" She rose from her chair and started walking towards the bathroom.
"Sure." Emily replied as she sighed.
After watching a movie, the girls went to bed.
"Chloe?" Emily whispered after flipping over so that her face was to Chloe's back. She assumed that Chloe was asleep, and thought out loud.
"I'm sorry for being a terrible girlfriend." She said in a low voice. "I want to make you happy. I want to talk with you about my deep dark secrets." She chuckled.
"I want you to meet my family, I want to be all that a good girlfriend should be. It's just-it's difficult for me. I have never even considered the the possibility that someone would like me romantically, and even less so the fact that that person would be a woman." Emily paused and fixed the blanket on Chloe's shoulder.
"I get that you aren't perfect, but I'm damaged. I just don't want to hurt you. I've seen how that turns out, and I never want you to feel that way.
Either way, I really like you, but I don't know if I'm ready for this yet." Her eyes began to water as her voice became more and more unsteady. To hide her tears, she flipped back over to face the window.
