Isaac
"No way. No freaking way!" I exclaimed when Isaac slid into a stop in front of my history building just in time. He drove like a lunatic and had it not been rush our we would have most certainly gotten arrested for his reckless driving. But not even the cops could squeeze through tiny spots like Isaac could.
I had feared for my life the entire trip and what's more, we got hit with a rainstorm on our way the school so we we're both soaked.
I jumped from the motorcycle and started running towards the big double doors but not before I heard him say.
"Don't forget, sweet Dawn, you owe me now..."
I ignored his words. He couldn't make me do squat. Maybe I did feel bad for agreeing to a bargain that I was never going to fulfill but I had a feeling that Isaac hadn't come up with the idea just then. He probably needed something and had arranged the circumstances to his liking.
I wouldn't even be that surprised if he had been the one to empty my tires of air. There was something about him , something that made me believe that he'd have no problem to play dirty. Now I just had to wait and see what he was planning.
I swooped in just as my proffesor was about to close the door. He gave me a sharp look but I ignored it and just claimed my seat in the second row. My friend Azalea was already there.
"What took you so long?" She whispered to me as soon as I sat down, dripping all over the seat. Then she stared down at my feet with a frown.
"And where's your other shoe?"
I had been slipping through the hallways in my wet clothes and another one of my ballerinas had stayed behind. I hadn't had the time to pick it up so I had just kept running with only one shoe.
"I overslept." I whispered back apologetically and she nodded.
Thankfully, she hadn't given up on me and had saved me a seat. Two, actually. One for me and one for all of my stuff. It may sound prissy but I like having my bag on a chair next to me so everything I could possibly need in a class is right there for my taking without fussing.
It also doesn't hurt that due to this weird habit I rarely have to sit next to some random person. Azalea I handle but I don't like to be trapped between two people. It's like I said. I need my space. My personal bubble.
Just as Mr. Hanz was about to begin the door open again. Apparently Professor Hanz hadn't locked it after all. I wasn't sure if they did that in here. In my old high school they had done it to prevent tardiness so I had figured college had the same policy.
Mr. Hanz looked very irritated.
"Who are you and why are you late to my class, may I ask?" He barked at Isaac who smiled at him. Bad move Isaac, I thought when Mr. Hanz narrowed his eyes at him.
"I had to save a lady from losing her shoe." Isaac replied heroically and his eyes searched the crowd before they found mine.
"There's my cinderella."
He started to make his way to me and I stared down at my notebook when the whole class turned to stare at me. Isaac moved my bag from the seat next to mine and sat down. He handed me my missing ballerina which I accepted with a mumbled thank you, and cheeks burning.
The class, History 101, is interesting. Today's subject was modern warfare of which professor Hanz knew a lot about. He was a very good speaker yet I found it hard to concentrate on anything that he was saying because of the boy sitting next to me. Isaac leaned to me, read what I was reading and was overall acting way to chummy.
"Get back, Isaac." I finally snapped and pushed him away by his cheek.
He chuckled quietly. "What's the matter, 5B? Got a problem with closeness?" He asked mockingly.
"I just don't want you near me." I said even though he wasn't completely off about that. I don't have intimacy issues, I just like having my space. At least that's what I told myself.
Isaac put a hand on his heart and looked me eyes filled with pain.
"You keep wounding my ego. Good thing that I've got a lot of it or your constant rejections might hurt."
I snorted at him and for the rest of the lesson I ignored him although he did his best to get a rise out of me. He changed the order of my pens, dropped my papers on the floor, whispered dirty things on my ear and even put his hand on my knee. That's when I stuck my pencil on his stomach and was pleased to hear a pained sound escaping his lips.
"You, stay behind." Mr. Hanz said at the end of the class, pointing Isaac who groaned.
"I want to have a talk with you about your attitude. The rest of you may go."
As I was walking out of the class, a boy stopped me. "Excuse me, have you seen Isaac? He should be in this class." He asked worriedly.
I looked up at him.
"Who's asking?" I asked carefully. I might not have been Isaac's biggest fan but I know better than to just blurt things out without asking who I'm talking to. Recklessness can be dangerous. I knew that my heart.
"I'm Chase Westford, his brother." The boy introduce himself.
I couldn't hide my surprise.
"You're Isaac's brother?" I asked.
He and Isaac look nothing alike. Chase hair was something between brown and red and his eyes were green-gray. He was also very tall, his head was well above mine even though I'm not that short either.
Chase shrugged. " Well, our parents are married so..."
"So he's not my brother." Isaac snapped making me jump as he walked up to us. He glared at Chase.
"What are you doing here?"
Chase didn't seemed surprised about his hostile demeanor but I was. The Isaac I knew was always a cloud of smirks and flirtatious winks. This side of him surprised me. Why did he hate his brother so much?
"You weren't picking up." Chase simply stated.
"This might come as a shock but I have better things to do than answering my phone all day." Isaac nearly spat.
I had to concentrate on not making my mouth fall open. I had never seen Isaac get so worked up about anything.
"It was part of the agreement. That you answer our calls." Chase reminded him, refusing to back down.
Isaac glanced quickly at me and then snapped at Chase.
"Shut up. Let's just go."
He sped away and after smiling apologetically at me Chase followed him. I was left to stare after them with a stunned look on my face. What was Isaac hiding?
