Chương 34: New Year Dinner (1)
Feng Mian looked at the corridor helplessly. She just realized that having a big mansion is truly a hassle. Back then, Zhang Liang's mansion already felt so big for her. And this place just had to be double that size. To be able to go around, she really needed a long time because of the vast distance.
"It's here, Madam."
"Thank you."
Feng Mian was glad that she finally reached the backyard. As she opened the door, she could see the beautifully decorated pillars and temporary roof. In the middle of the backyard was the three men, chatting with one another.
She was about to greet when she heard Zhang Yi spoke again.
"You're always so busy making new types of cakes. How come you didn't go home a few days each week? Do you wish to make Lu Di La lonely? When will you give me a grandchild if this continues?" Zhang Yi chided.
Zhang Xue felt really helpless. Normally, it was the mother who would be busy asking about their children's child, but in their family, it is their father. And he was even bolder and demanding than their mother.
"Father, I…."
"Stop giving excuses." Zhang Yi glared. "If I heard from Lu Di La that you sleep in the kitchen again, I'll lock you two up together again and hand the management of the hotel temporarily to Liang."
Zhang Liang rolled his eyes. Even though he knew that it had happened in the past, he disliked having additional work on his table. The sweet company and some others that he managed were already a lot. He could barely rest.
"Father, how about if you're the one who manages the company?" Zhang Liang suggested.
Zhang Yi frowned. "What are you talking about...OH." It seemed that he just remembered that Zhang Liang was already married. "Right, you should also go home every day and accompany Mian'er. I want to see my grandchild before I die!"
"Don't worry, Father. I'm sure you'll have a long life."
"I'm not getting younger, alright!"
Zhang Xue sighed and averted his eyes. It was then he saw a young woman standing near the door with a beet red face. In this house, there might be a lot of short female servants, but there was only one woman who could walk around freely.
"Liang, is that Feng Mian?"
Zhang Liang turned his gaze and saw Feng Mian. He hurriedly stood up. "Yes."
As Zhang Liang walked to Feng Mian hurriedly, Zhang Xue turned to look at Zhang Yi. "Did she… hear?"
Zhang Yi wanted to say that it shouldn't be possible, but thinking that he didn't know when Feng Mian arrived, he just shut his mouth. It seemed that he wouldn't be able to berate his sons again today.
"This is the first time I see Liang so concerned about someone else outside of our family," Zhang Xue said amusedly.
"She's his wife, so he ought to do so."
"Is that so?"
Zhang Yi snorted and focused his eyes on the food that the servant brought outside. The one who cooked today were Lu Di La and Feng Mian. Now, he was curious about the taste of the food they made.
Zhang Liang walked closer to Feng Mian. "Don't mind the talk just now. Father is just too excited."
Feng Mian smiled bitterly. "Your father is really scary."
"He's just concerned about us."
"Why?"
"He thought that we're already too old, so he wished that we can give him children." Zhang Liang scoffed internally. He was only 26 years old, so he's still young in his opinion. There was still much more time if he wanted to have children.
Feng Mian giggled.
Seeing that her complexion had turned normal, Zhang Liang guided her to the table. He had arranged it so that she would sit beside him and Zhang Ai would sit on the other side.
Zhang Xue stood up when Feng Mian came closer. "Hello Feng Mian, I'm Zhang Xue, Liang's older brother."
Feng Mian smiled. "Nice to meet you, Brother Zhang Xue."
"Call me Xue Ge," Zhang Xue said generously.
"Ok, Xue Ge."
Zhang Liang pushed his brother to move back a bit. "Don't try to flirt with my wife too."
"Hey! I'm already married!"
"But your attitude is very annoying."
"I'm your twins, so we're similar."
"Twins didn't mean that we'll have similar personalities."
Zhang Xue stopped for a moment. Well that was correct because the biggest similarities they have with each other is their appearance not personality.
Zhang Liang gave a sidelong glance. "Also, even if we're twins, I'm much more handsome than you."
This time, Zhang Xue felt exasperated. They were identical twins, alright!
"We have similar faces!"
"Not really."
Feng Mian laughed when she saw Zhang Xue's face contorted. In truth, the two of them were very similar to the point that she found it hard to differentiate them. If not because Zhang Xue has a completely different personality compared to Zhang Liang, she might not be able to tell who from who.
Zhang Xue looked at Feng Mian. "Mian'er, look at your husband! As soon as he got a wife, he no longer treated me kindly!"
Feng Mian arched her eyebrows. "Are you sure that Brother Liang just begun to treat you like this when he got married?"
"That's…"
Seeing Zhang Xue was speechless, Zhang Liang nodded in satisfaction. He patted Feng Mian's head softly. "Good job."
"You! You! BULLY!"
"Oh, Xue, you are already on the losing end?" Lu Di La walked out of the mansion right when Zhang Xue began to yell. She crossed her arm. "Didn't you already know that you won't win against Liang when it comes to argument?"
"That…"
Zhang Ai giggled. "Xue Ge just didn't know when to stop."
"Right."
Hearing the two's sentences, Zhang Xue wanted to cry. Why is his wife also choosing to gang up against him?
Where's the justice?!
