That Alya, she drags me out of the room all the way to the bathroom, bombarding me with such intrusive questions and then leaving halfway because her older sister Nora calls her asking her to babysit the twins. Not that I have any complaints, but surely we could have done this another time. I feel awful for leaving Nino and Adrien doing the punishment when I'm the one that caused it all.
I decided to wash my hands expecting it would clear my mind but rustling noise behind me made me panic and made me think more. I quickly turn around to see what was going on, but ended up finding a Lila Rossi staring at me.
(A/N: That is so weird. Creeping up on someone is just pure abomination. Please don't do that.)
"Hello, Marinette." she grinned wearing her usual threatening stare.
"Lila." I said under my breath. Was she here this whole time?
"You look like you saw a ghost." she said walking to my side, washing her hands.
"That's because I didn't expect to see you here. I thought you were out of town or something?"
She glances to me with such a villanous stare. "Awwwe. Did you miss me?"
"No. I got used to your absence that your presence suprises me more." I said making sure I sound unamused.
Lila wipes her hand with her handkerchief, "Your spunky attitude has gotten worse. I hope it doesn't make you rot." she lets out a little laugh.
"And your prying hasn't changed much too." I responded cockily.
She gives me a fake smile then glances somewhere other than my face, "Nice wrist band you got there." she said pointing at my newly sewn pink wristband, which I instinctively covered with my other hand. Wayzz's miraculous is under this after all.
"What do you want Lila?" I said changing the topic, accidentally scowling at her.
"No need to be so hostile towards me, I'm just here to deliver some news."
I lift an eyebrow in response, "Hmmm."
She smiles at me, but her smile felt so taunting that it did not make me happy at all. She rests her lowerback to the sink and crosses her arms staring at me, "I heard Adrien has a girlfriend."
I scoff rolling my eyes, "Pff. You're so outdated. Everybody knows that already."
"And I heard emo Couffaine's courting you?"
Flinch. So she did hear us earlier! And did she just call Luka an emo?
"Luka isn't emo. That's just how he presents himself because he's in a band and he's really into his music. Of course you wouldn't know that."
"Tomato, Tomahto." she disses at me.
"What's it to you anyway? It's not like you can make something up out of this."
I was confident of myself. I knew I wasn't doing anything bad that Lila could use against me this time, but then she strikes me with a "Don't you feel any guilt?" while looking all smug.
"And why would I feel any guilt?"
"Oh, I don't know," she shrugs, "You're still madly in love with Adrien, sticking to him like glue when his girl's not around and you lead poor Luka on making him think he has a chance. I didn't know you love attention as much as I do, Marinette."
As much as I wanted this to be a calm conversation, Lila sure knows how to pull the strings and infuriate me.
"I am not madly in love with Adrien and I AM taking Luka seriously. I don't know where you've been getting these ideas but I've talked to Kagami and we're really good friends. I wouldn't do anything to hurt my friend and I most certainly respect what Adrien and she has."
"Of course you do." she smiles confidently.
What the hell? I know Lila was a conceited devious brat but why can't I seem to shake her off. This is pointless. I better head back and help the boys with the work I left behind.
"This conversation is over, Lila. I'm leaving." I said heading for the door.
"You think you're so good and honest when you're secretly snaking your way in. Aren't you?" her voice echoed, stopping me.
I turn around, anger erupting within me.
"What did you just say to me?" my voice about to burst from my chest.
I see Lila pull out her phone scrolling a little then shoves at me an image that felt like frost crawled up my back.
"Your speechlessness speaks multitude, Marinette." she laughs, "Not so innocent now are we?"
It was a picture that time when Adrien was walking me home. We weren't holding hands or anything but a shot of us staring at each other like that from the bakery's entrance could create a huge misunderstanding.
"Wh-"
"Why? Because you weren't being honest of yourself, Marinette."
"That picture does not mean anything!" I exclaim, "Adrien was just being Adrien."
"Oh yes, Adrien was being his usual gentleman self but you, shouldn't you be more conscious of your actions? Don't you see your face in this? Just because the girlfriend was away, you try and sneak up on her man. What did I tell you? You aren't as different as I am."
I grit my teeth holding myself back from attacking her, "You're making this all up to spite me."
"Spite you?" Lila reacts with an evil laugh, "I want you to feel miserable and realize how that friendship you're desperately trying to protect will soon be over once Kagami learns of the truth. And not only that, Adrien too will finally realize your dirty intentions and finally abandon you."
"Why are you doing this?"
"Why? Because I just love that desperate look on your face." she snickers.
I push Lila away with all my might, mustering all the strength I need to let out this ill feeling inside of me.
"I don't know what you're up to Lila, but even if you can get everybody to believe in you, your lies are merely illusions of the truth."
Lila claps, "We'll see about that." she pats my shoulder and leaves the bathroom giggling to herself.
As soon as I heard the door shut, my knees lose all its strength and I fall to the floor staring blankly recalling what had just happened. Lila will surely spread that image. But if she won't, I'm sure she'll find a way to send it to Kagami. There is also a chance that she'll use it to blackmail me and make me do whatever she wants. ARGH, THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!
"That girl is scary," Plagg said levitating out of my sling bag, "Was that Volpina?"
I nod, "Yea and ironically she's really good at making illusions even without the fox pendant."
"But are you okay Marinette? You look exhausted." he pats my head which made me feel calm.
"I'm fine. I'm just a little distracted when I don't have enough sleep." I tickle him and the little guy giggled. "Enough of that, where's Wayzz?"
"He's been in Adrien's bag since this morning, but the kid hasn't noticed him yet."
"He sure is good at hiding as he says." I smirk.
"We just have to trust him with this." Plagg added, smiling.
Of course I trust Wayzz in this. He's been through so much with Master Fu, but he didn't give up. Wayzz inspires me so much to do my best even when the world is trying to go against me. Right now I have, Tikki, Chat and Paris to protect. No time to be threatened with empty taunts Marinette. I can't show weakness to Plagg who's been sacrificing a lot right now.
I nod, "Alright Plagg, hide back in my pouch."
"Where are you going?" he blinks.
I pull Plagg closer to me making him sit on my palm, whispering,
"Don't you want to check up on our school boy Chat Noir?" I wink.
This is my first time using Marinette's POV!
I had a couple of blankly staring at the ceiling moments as I was writing hoping I could pull through despite my sluggish brain right now.
(﹁___﹁) nevertheless, I did it~
