Shu Ya was tiered. For days she felt her whole body being in strange pain. Every night she would wake up from her sleep and squirm in bed.
Neither she could tell them, nor she could continue like this. The things she prepared were not yet done.
She stood up and heard a sound in front of her door. "Stop being creepy and come in. You already know I am awake."
Shin Young came in and lit one of the oil candles. "Why did you stop your servants from being around you at night?"
His angry and worried face made her gloomy feeling become lighter. "I hate people being in the same room with me lately. Shin Young, you know me only this little while, but please stop being so distant. Your family..."
His eyes became darker and he shook his head. "Looking at you gathering stuff in worry, I became worried as well. Bolin borrowed me some money he saved. I know a man that has money and a clean mind so I gave the money to him and he just sends a message to his family to give my people the money. I got not a few days ago that they got money and bought as much food as they could for it. I am sure that even if the winter lasts six months, they will be fine if they don't exaggerate."
Shu Ya pressed her lips. "I guess you still don't trust me enough."
The way this child looked at him made Shin Young strangely feel pain. "I'm sorry. But too many things happened at the same time. Even if I wanted to speak about it, I had no chance."
Of course, she knew that everyone lingered around her constantly. But she still shook her head. "You know very well that is just a sad excuse. If you asked me for a bit of my time, I would have done it. It's not like I work day in, day out. Shin Young if I can trust you, what is stopping you to trust me?"
Seeing him silently standing there and thinking she sighed. "I might be quite, wrong, but this winter won't pass as easily as you think. Is that person's family somewhat wealthy?"
With a confused expression, he gave a slight nod. "Yes."
Shu Ya stood up, went to one of her boxes and picked up one of the bags she prepared. "Here are enough bags for all my employees. I will give presents later on for good work. Of course, no one will have to save the amount. But the four of you will get the same amount. You can pay back Bolin with your monthly payment. This, send your family. I just give you your bag in advance. And if you don't take it I will get seriously angry and will feel disgraced."
Shin Young knew her so far and knew she always had a big hand so he accepted. If he doesn't accept she will really take it to heart. With a bow, he left and sighed as he saw Mingli standing there with a cold expression.
"I... she really made me take it..." He completely misunderstood Mingli's expression.
"I'm not angry because you took what is yours, then why didn't you talk to us. Idiot, if you worry too much you won't be able to concentrate on your task. What if she gets hurt in the process? Shin Young, I chose the death contract as I plan to spend my life by her side. I want to protect her until I die. We don't ask both of you to do that, as we know you two have other plans in your life. But as long you are by her side, please be her person."
Shin Young realized something. He really was quite distracted by the worry. Even now... His eyebrows furrowed. "Bring Wen Delun. Quickly!"
Seeing Shin Young rushing back inside Mingli suddenly had a bad premonition and rushed towards Wen Delun's room. Just as he was about to knock, Wen Delun opened it in his sleeping wear and pressed lips. "Let me get my bag."
Before getting into his room he called loudly "Shen Zihao, wake up. Lady Ying needs us, now!"
He just put a simple robe and took his bag. When he arrived, Shen Zihao was already there. He looked like he was ready for this situation as he stared at him with a smile. "Told you. Three days. My calculation was right."
"Stop talking and get the medicine. Shu Ya, why didn't you tell us?" Wen Delun took her hand and noticed that her heart rate was really way too fast. "Did you dream something strange lately?"
She pouted her lips and then nodded. "Yes. I dream about a man and horse. Somehow I want him to come to me, but when I try to call him, he disappears."
Wen Delun blinked at her. "You. Aren't you too young to dream such dreams?"
His head suddenly got hit by a small object and he saw Shen Zihao looking at him icily. "Do you really think she dreams man for some grown-up reasons? No. Such dreams could be interpreted in so many ways, but... you and your dirty mind."
Shu Ya dazedly looked between the two of them and yawned. "You two must really not understood my dream. I literally could feel the snow on my skin and cold wind in my hair. It's like I was there. I think that person will come soon."
Now both men were interested. "Why do you say that?"
Shu Ya sighed. "At first I would call him and he would disappear, but tonight he stopped and was about to turn when I woke up. Now I truly wonder if I could see his face next time."
The two men suddenly had a strange feeling, as they looked at her calmly snuggling back to her beddings and directly falling asleep.
Mingli and Shin Young came in and looked at the two men in wonder.
"This is strange." Mingli glanced at happily sleeping Shu Ya.
Wen Delun nodded. "She feels safe only around men. What did those people do to her that even one of her servants can't sleep by her side? Mingli, I know it is not appropriate, but if you feel that she is having nightmares again, go in and be by her side. I think it will comfort her somewhat. Her condition just improved a tiny bit, but she is overworking lately. People expecting too much from her. They forget that she is just a tiny girl."
He stroke a strand of hair that was on her face and shook his head. ''I hope she will become healthier. I can't even tell her anything, as she would get angry and she can't handle that yet."
Mingli stood there and quietly looked at the two men that had worried expressions on their face. "Aren't her poisons gone?"
Shen Zihao nodded with a serious expression. "They might be gone, but the fear, her angst is there. It seems she became mature instantly as she was hurt so many times. Why do you think she feels so safe when we are all around her? Because we will protect her. She was hungry so first thing was to think about food. She had no clothes to wear so she wants everyone to have warm clothes. Her workers have free days, food payment and a happy working environment. Do you think a normal noble girl would do all this if she had a pampered life? Those pampered girls don't even consider all those things."
Wen Delun shook his head. "I think you are wrong. This child is too aware of her surroundings. Even if she was born to be pampered, she would do the same. I think her fear comes from all those attacks."
"So loud..." Shu Ya whispered and furrowed her eyebrows.
They froze as they realized that they didn't even lower their voices. Almost on tiptoes, they left her room. The doors they left a bit open so they could check on her from time to time.
The next morning Lord Ka came into her room and saw her rosy cheeks. "Did you sleep well?"
With a big smile, she nodded. "Yes. I had a really good sleep."
"Why didn't you tell us about your nightmares?" He took a small butterfly accessory out the box and inserted it into her hair clumsily.
"Godfather, I really care about you, but don't try to help me with accessories. Really." She stared at the bronze mirror and the accessory that was standing strangely straight in her hair. Like TV antenna...
Just then Wen Delun entered her room and burst into laughter. "What is that? Dear Lord Ko, let me redo it."
He took the accessory and made the two maids now burst in laughter. The butterfly was standing unsteadily askew and as soon Shu Ya moved her head a bit, it fell off.
Shu Ya slowly turned around and blinked at him. "Out! Both of you! Stop messing with my hair."
The two men could see her mouth twitching and her eyes looking at them angrily. They quickly left and then started laughing.
"She is so cute." Lord Ka started laughing.
Wen Delun nodded and as they came out he saw Bolin's expression and became serious. He had a foreboding feeling that something big will come. "Something happened..."
