Chương 6: Ghost
"Let's take a look inside the old building." Kira muttered in a low voice.
He slowly approached the old building while carefully looking at his surroundings.
Wooosh!
The cold of breeze of the night gentle blew on his face. It makes him felt that something was really inside the old building.
He saw a sign saying "Keep Out." He instantly guess that there's really something inside this building.
Kira went inside the old building through the window.
The inside of the old building were dark, full of webs, and dust. There's pieces of shattered glass scattered on the floor.
"Really... Feels like a haunted house." Kira muttered looking around him.
He carefully walked forward while avoiding some of the webs and pieces of glass.
Suddenly, he felt a chill run down on his spine. The hair on his body stood on its end.
"What?!" He immediately turned his head and looked behind him. He only saw a dark hallway.
'There's no mistaking it! I felt that someone was staring at me just now!' He doesn't believed that he just imagine that someone was staring at his back. He doesn't know how to explain but he was sure that there's really someone looking at him.
The feeling of someone watching him in the dark wasn't a pleasant feeling at all.
"Don't tell me... It's really a ghost." Kira muttered as he observed his surroundings.
Swoosh!
A shadow quickly went inside a room.
"Hmm...?" Kira frowned. He clearly saw a shadow went inside the room. He wasn't hallucinating and he's not dreaming.
Kira walked forward as he slowly approached the room where the shadow went.
Then, he saw a black figure came out of the walls.
Swoosh!!
Kira quickly jumped ahead and avoided the shadow. He then quickly jumped through the window and went outside the old building.
He kept running and jumped over the walls. Then, he stopped to catch his breath.
"Whew~ what the hell is that?" He muttered as he wiped the sweat on his forehead.
"I'm finally sure now... The supernatural world is real..."
He looked at the old building when the shadow came out and dashed straight at him.
"The hell!" Kira cursed when he saw this. He braced himself as he clenched his fist tightly.
He squinted his eyes and observed the shadow. The shadow had a humanoid figure. It had a hazy appearance and white body. It also had black face and don't have a legs. It was floating above the ground.
Kira waited for a few seconds before he threw a punch at the ghost.
Swooosh!!
"What?!" Kira was stunned when he saw his fist passed through the body of the ghost.
He turned around and looked at the ghost.
"Damn! I forgot that ghost have that kind of ability!"
He cursed loudly. He tried to think what he should do, when the ghost once again charged at him at a very fast speed.
Swoosh!!
"It's not that much faster from the current me." Kira muttered while looking at the ghost.
He waited for the right timing before he lifted up his feet and kicked the ghost.
Once again, his attack passed through the body of the ghost.
"Damn! How can I defeat it if all of my attack passes through it's body." Kira shouted. He didn't know how to defeat it if his attacks were ineffective. He hadn't face anyone like this. All he fight before were just an ordinary human and that was back in earth.
This one is really a ghost.
It wasn't a ghost if it couldn't passed through an object.
He was in a delimma.
"There's no other choice but to run!" Kira said as he quickly turned around and went deep inside the woods.
He looked behind him and saw the ghost was chasing him. He sped up his pace and run faster like his life was at stake.
After a few minutes, Kira was breathing heavily and the ghost was still chasing after him.
Suddenly, he heard a deep voice out of nowhere.
"It seems like your in trouble, young man."
Kira stopped and he looked around. He saw nothing but the ghost that was chasing him.
"Shit!"
An arrow of light came down from the sky and pierced the ghost body.
Kiekkk!
The ghost released an ear piercing screech before it disappeared.
"What? It got defeated just like that!" Kira was stunned when he saw this scene. He didn't that the ghost that gave him trouble with be defeated just like that.
Kira looked around him with a vigilant expression.
"Don't be tense, young man."
Kira saw a figure slowly walked out of the shadows.
The figure was a middle-aged man with a short messy orange hair. He was wearing a plain navy blue pants and white tank top.
"You possesses a strong body and it's hard too imagine that ordinary person like you have that strength." The middle-aged man said. He actually saw Kira fought the ghost before but he didn't help him as he just want to see what's he gonna do. When he felt that Kira don't possessed any power, he decided to intervene and killed the ghost.
"Who are you?" Kira asked.
"Hmm... Who am I? That doesn't even matter..." The middle-aged man waved his hand.
"You know to defeat ghost type creature you need to utilize a special energy called Mana." The middle-aged man said.
"Mana...?" Kira recalled the arrow of light that instantly killed the ghost.
'Mana, huh?' There's really a powerful human hiding from the society. They secretly work from the dark and protect humans from those monsters. What a cliche plot...
"Yes, Mana though in other continent they called it Ki, Spiritual energy, etc... In case it's called Mana in our country." The middle-aged man nodded at him.
'I wonder how would Yuki react if she knew this.' Kira chuckled inwardly when he thought of Yuki. He could already imagined her shock.
The middle-aged man paused for a moment and added, "You have a special physiques that is stronger than ordinary humans. You can become one of us if you want."
"Me...?" Kira was surprised. He then realized that it must be because he was at Muscle Tempering Stage that this middle-aged man thought that he had special physiques.
"Yeah. A very strong physical body." The middle-aged nodded.
He observed Kira and said, "You can ask me some questions if you want."
Kira nodded and said, "The power suits..."
He haven't finished his sentence when the middle-aged man interrupted him.
"The power suits are strong but in the hands of ordinary humans they were just a toy. The power suits have a special feature that could utilize the ability-users power."
The middle-aged man looked at Kira and asked, "Have you seen a power suit clad in flames?"
Kira nodded his head. He had seen that on tv. He thought that was just the advancement of technology that they could do that.
"An ability-user must be operating that power suit. If ordinary person operate a power suit, they could only use guns, swords, or brute strength. They could never hope to defeat ability-users." The middle-aged man said.
"Have you operated a power suit?" Kira asked.
"Just once... Not all ability-users prefer to operate that machine. Mages were that kind. They fought by constructing magic circle." The middle-aged man said.
"Mages.... So they were all real." Kira muttered.
The middle-aged man said, "There's a power-user that's assigned to every district in the country. They were task to eliminate every monsters. That's why you hardly heard a news about a monster around the country because a special force already slay them in the dark without anyone knowing."
"I have long heard about the ghost at the old building so why don't they eliminate it before?" Kira asked.
The middle-aged man didn't answer his question, he instead said, "You have potential. If you want to delve into our world then comeback here. I will teach you how to utilize mana." Then, the middle-aged man turned around and began to walked deeper in the woods.
Kira also turned around and he heard the middle-aged man's deep voice once again.
"If you want to stay being a normal person then you better kept quiet about this because you might endanger your life."
Kira turned his head but he saw nothing. The middle-aged man was already gone.
"Hoo... It seems that I really need the power of what they call mana." Kira said with a sighed. From the information given to him by the system, there's no training set to use mana. Maybe after he finish the first three stages but that was too far. He still only at the first stage.
"Okay, I will come back here to learn about mana." Kira muttered as he looked at the woods.
He returned back to his apartment and he took a bath before he sleep.
