Chương 68: Both Side Lose Their Life
Almost a minute passes before Louis came to Arden, still with the tiger cub and seeing the tiger mom. Louis said to him, "Sir, if we don't leave now, the bear probably would escape!"
Arden looked at him and then to the tiger cub, he picked up the tiger cub with his hand and began making his way to the place Louis and his sons were waiting for himself.
With the slow pace of walking, while filled with sadness, he stopped and said to Louis and his sons, "Let's go after that bear"
The looked at each other briefly and then nodded. All of them continued on their way to find the bear that killed the white tiger Arden met.
With the help of the blood trail the bear left, the 6 of them wander around the forest following the trail. They walked and walked, hopeful to encounter the bear, but they didn't have luck so far.
They continued walking, and they stopped once they see the river, Arden looked at others and then stated, "The trail is deleted by the river, the bear crossed the river, let's continue"
All of them nodded and began searching for a shallow region of the river. It took them some time to find the place where they could cross the water safely.
They looked at each other once again and nervous about something that might happen to them, even Arden began producing sweat off his face.
He looked down and see the cat, making a scared face and not wanting to go into the water. But Edward, the second son of Louis, slowly grabbing the white cat to bring it across the river.
At first, the cat thought Edward was about to do something bad and is scared to be grabbed by Edward. In the end, the cat gave up after Arden smiled at the cat and giving the signal Edward was friendly.
Then, Arden looked at others once again and nodded before soaking his leg in the cold water in the river. Other followed closely behind him, crossing the river slowly, making sure not to fall into the water.
They reached the middle of the river before Arden felt something is not right. He felt as if the water was becoming colder and colder and the flow is becoming faster as time passes.
He was right. The river suddenly becoming faster and no way they will survive in the flow if they don't go across that fast. Arden quickly shouts at the other while his eyes still facing the front, "Quick, we need to cross this river!"
Unfortunately, by that time, Louis, Alan, Daniel and Adam already retreating. While Arden and Edward, with the white cats and tiger cub on their hands, are making their way across the river.
It was 2 metres away when Arden and Edward almost made it across and Louis and the other three were chanting at them to make their pace faster.
Arden looked to the left and saw the big wave of water coming toward him and then shouted to Edward, "Edward! Fast!"
Both of them fastened their pace and began running toward the land. It took Arden 2 seconds to reach the land, then place down the tiger cub and turn back and stretched his arm toward Edward.
Edward caught a glance of him and throws the cat into the land while Edward himself is still in the water, struggling to walk. After he has thrown the cat into the land, Edward quickly took Arden's arm and hold it tightly, as tight as he could, even Arden felt some pain in his arm.

The wave came down with an insane speed, dragging Edward with it. Yet… Arden resisted the power of the wave and pulled Edward to the land.
Arden stops committing power into the process for a few seconds and the flow almost dragged Edward. Then… Arden made the last pull. With all his strength, he gritted his teeth and pulled Edward out of the water.
Edward lies on the ground, sighing several times and his breath becoming faster than normal. He looked at Arden and said, "Thank you, sir"
Arden sat down, with his back leaning against the tree and with his wet clothes, he sighed in relief and said, "No problem, we are separated from the other though, I think the river flow would be slowed at morning, let's continue searching the bear"
Edward looked at him and sighed before standing up and said to him, "the faster we kill that bear, the faster I could rest, let's move"
Arden smiled at him as Edward pick up the white cat from the ground. Arden quickly picks the tiger cub and hold it in his hand and turned back to wave at Louis before continuing his search.
Arden turns his attention back to the forest in front of him. As he did that he could see the broken leaves on the ground and red marks reflecting moonlight near it, immediately, he could guess that it was the blood trail of the bear.
Based on the location both of them found the trail at, Arden conclude that the bear used the same path like them to cross the river and he is most likely not wrong.
He smiled as he knows that he is close to killing the bear and looked at Edward which has the same expression, Arden smiled at him as he said, "Let's get moving!"
Edward just returned Arden's smile with a smile of his own and nodded before both of them followed the trail while walking side by side.
Not even 3 minutes after they continued the hunt for the bear, they found the bear itself. Lying lifeless beneath a branch of a tree. Apparently, the fight between the tiger and the bear ended up killing both sides.
The white cat seeing this starting making a visible smile at his face and the tiger cub did the same. Arden smiled as he knew he didn't need to kill an animal on that day.
Edward looked at him and said bluntly, "Sir, what are we going to do now?"
Arden looked at him and just smiled, "You could do whatever you want with the bear, I want to explore this place to see if there is anything interesting."
Edward nodded and turned back at the bear. He smiled as he looked at it and take out his knife. In his mind, he could only think about one thing, 'If I sell it, it would make me a fortune'
Arden seeing this immediately changed his mind, 'the bear would make a great decoration at the castle!'
He was about to stop Edward but it was too late, Edward already stabbed his knife at the bear and began skinning it. He won't stop doing it unless there is something more interesting for him.
Arden looked at him nervously and embarrassed and then asking Edward the price of the skin, "Hey Edward, how much you planned to sell the skin?"
Edward keeps skinning the bear and answered without bothering to look at Arden's face, "I was planning to sell it for 1 Aurens at least and 5 Aurens at most"
Arden smiled knowing he could afford it and then asked for more information, "Is it already processed or just original like the one you skinned and just sell it to others"
Edward is still focused on skinning the bear and without losing focus, he answered Arden's question, "I can make it like a decoration for 1 Auren"
Arden smiled even bigger and then said to him, "I want to buy it for decoration for my castle, 3 Aurens for the skin and 2 Aurens to make it as a carpet"
At that time, Edward immediately knew he has fallen into a trap, in his mind the only thing that came is… 'I could have sold it more to a noble like him but it will be too late if I increase the price now!'
He stopped skinning the bear for some moments while thinking about that and continued shortly. Edward immediately said, "Okay, good idea I will send it to you, you can pay it when the item arrives. Need some time though, making the skin last longer as decoration would need some moments."
Arden excitedly smiled and answered, "Not a problem, I'll give bonuses if you make the item really magnificent!"
He then looks around and has a good feeling about the land he is standing at… Weirdly. He knew it would be a strategic position to hold for last stands.
He was about to leave without informing Edward, but soon; he remembered about him. Arden stated to him, "Hey Edward, I will explore this place for a bit, meet me at this place in the morning"
Arden then grabbed the tiger cub and soon the white cat followed him, he was walking when he noticed the cat following him and asked himself about it, 'What is this cat up to?'
He keeps walking and exploring the land, seeing a hill in the middle of the island surrounded by the thick forest. Then… another thing came to his mind as he noticed the cat once again.
'Could this cat be the servant of the white tiger family? That is most possible considering he is following the cub when I carried him' Arden looked at the cat once again before continue exploring.
