Chương 52: Devils In Disguise
The maid turned her face to him as the other maid start leaving hastily and didn't look back at her. The maid looked at the peasant in front of her bedroom to start approaching him.
He was presented to a woman, with his brown eyes and black hair, approaching him with a speed of turtle as she walks carefully to try not to step on her own skirt.
'Here she comes, she will be my first target now!' Arden thinks to himself and smirked a bit while waiting for the maid to come.
The maid becomes closer and closer, started yelling at the distance of 4 metres "Hey! What are you doing here?!?" The stopped when she was close enough and continue scolding her own lord that she hasn't noticed yet.
Arden responded with a sentence while still doing his acting "Uh, I got lost, I was supposed to meet your lord to discuss something about my family" That maid believed him, even though it's quite strange.
The maid got excited and began telling the truth, "Really? Anyway, I never actually met my lord, last night I pulled a prank on him, don't tell him okay?" Arden raised one of his eyebrows.
While one of his eyebrows is still raised, he asked curiously "What if I tell him?" The maid gasped and stood there for a second before responding.
"Well, you can choose to cooperate or I'll call the guard, saying someone is trying to assassinate one of the nobility. If that's not enough to convince the guard, I have the support of the head maid, she is a close friend of mine and you can't do anything!" Arden chuckled a bit before releasing a loud laugh.
"Okay, I'll cooperate, what you want me to do?" The maid at first confused with the laugh quickly changed her expression to a big smirk across her face.
"Well, I'll tell you my plan. That dress that fat woman has is very beautiful, I want it and I will gift it to the head maid! So you must go inside and take it!" Arden stares at her at disbelieve.
Even though he wants to uncover his identity, he still followed along. He said "Okay, I'll take it for you" and turned his back to her and giggled a bit.
He took a deep breath and waited, then he heard footsteps from behind started going further and further from him.
This is when he realized that he was being tricked by the maid 'Oh! He will get the guard and then trick them into believing I stole the dress, she will get the dress and I will be caught!' Arden goes inside his bedroom and sat at the chair.
He contemplates on how to expose the maid for being disrespectful 'Well, I think I'll just play along at this point, I'll uncover my identity to them when it's needed!' Valen unexpectedly woke up from her sleep.
She was given a scene of a man that looked like a peasant sitting beside her, with his hand crossed and his head just staring at the table while thinking.
The first thing she did was to yell at him, "Who are you!! Where is my husband!!" Arden caught off guard quickly turned his attention to his own wife.
"Wait, let me do something!" He changed his hairstyle to the normal one he used and go to the bathroom to clean his face.
Once he was done, Valen quickly rubbed her eyes and look at him once more, her mind filled with confusion as she asks "Why are you on that clothing, are you trying to do something! You gave me a heart attack!" Arden just giggles before telling him everything.
"I'm doing some undercover things right now, I found one target though, a maid with brown eyes and black hair," Valen looked at him still confused, but now a little bit excitement can be seen in her face.
"Do you know how much that narrow it down? Anyway, what she told you to do?" Arden looked at the mirror at the table he was sitting before and started messing around with his hair.
Then he turned to her and gave the answer to her question, "She told me to steal your dress while she is gone to get the guards, is there any bad dress you don't want?" Arden asked back.
"Well, I'll act along, let's just use the wedding dress as the experiment, It's just a dress anyway," Both of them smirked heavily and they made their plan.
Arden suggests his plan first "Okay, here's the plan, I'll go outside and then argue with whoever outside, when you heard something bad happen to me, go outside and start berating them." Not even a second, her wife agreed to the plan.
"Well, I'm not good at making a plan, let's try yours" Both of them quickly starts the preparation, searching for the item needed.
"Well, where's the wedding dress? At the wardrobe, right?" Arden asked while he approaches the wardrobe.
"Yea, first from the left, I'll help you find it since I can't move from this bed" Arden began searching with the help of his wife and soon, the preparation is finished.
"Okay, I'll go now" Arden kissed her on the forehead for good luck before getting stopped by Valen that is worried something might happen to him.
"Bring on of your sword with you, I'm afraid something will happen to you" Arden stopped in front of the door with the dress in hand.
He thought of her words before saying "You are right, I can't bring my normal sword, they will know it, so… I'll bring my Naginata with me, need to cover it in cloth though" He approached the corner of the room.
Where his 2 small storage is at, both of the armour has a different design of armour stands, his knight armour is standing while his samurai armour is sitting. The weapons are at the weapons stands beside him.
'I don't remember putting this, I think the guard that came with me helped me set this up, I need to thank them later' Arden thinks to himself before snatching that Naginata off the weapon stands and covering it in cloth.
"Okay, I'm done now, wish me luck!" Arden opened the door, with the dress at his hand and the Naginata covered in cloth that looks like a big pole.
There he saw the maid from earlier, but now with another maid beside her, both of them have the sh*t eating grin across their face.
"Hey, you! How dare you steal that dress and even that big pole behind you!" The maid from earlier yelled at him.
"Who are you? I'm a head maid here! You don't have the audacity to challenge me, do you?" Arden grinned lightly, barely noticeable by naked eyes.
"May I know both of your names? I haven't got to know you yet." Arden politely asked with his enormous smile.
"Is that even important? Well, since you will go to the dungeon, might as well do it! Hey you, tell him out names, I'm disgusted by talking with peasant!" The head maid said this sentence that triggered Arden.
'If not only for the fun I will be getting later, I will send them to the dungeon immediately!" Arden thought to himself and cusses out some offensive words in his mind.
"My name is Cassandra and this beautiful lady over here is Rose, remember our name you fool!" Arden stared at the head maid, it's not wrong that she is beautiful, with the red hair and red eyes, like a real rose, but the plant Rose has thorns after all.
From the end of the hallway, the guards can be seen, they approached the location where Arden and the other 2 maids are.
"Rose, I heard there is some problem" They began their act, throwing out lies and other things like "he threatens us" and "he stole that dress".
At this point, the guard concludes that they have heard enough and of course they asked "Sir, please come with us, this lady has told us everything" Of course Arden refuses and start resisting.
"What if I told you that these ladies" He points at Cassandra and continued, "Told me to steal this!" The guards are confused at this point, not knowing who is right.
"That's not possible, both of them have been so good to us," One of them said but the other said with the rude tone "He is lying! That big pole behind him is a weapon he stole from our lord, attack!"
Instantly, almost all of the guards attacking him, some of them didn't use their weapons at all. While the only one not attacking is the one that tried to reason with Arden.
Arden yelled at them to stop, "Wait!" Of course, no one stopped, forcing him to drop the dress in front of his bedroom and take some step back while trying to remove the cloth in the Naginata.
The guards unsheathed all of their weapons as soon as they saw the Naginata and the tension is rising fast…
