As soon as biology ends she glances at me with a small smile, before bolting out of class. I didn't see her the rest of the day, even though I secretly hoped I would get to see her beautiful frame sweep gracefully through any door of the classes I had, with the exception of athletics in 2nd period, but Keela didn't come through any of the doors, not even the cafeteria door. I only had 4 of my classes today, and they were biology, athletics, humanities (both English 1 and world history) and CCR in that order. Tomorrow I have geometry, athletics, humanities and then I go the band. I hope I can see her tomorrow I think as I climb onto the bus.
As I get to my seat I see her sitting in it. No one sits there but me, so seeing her sitting quietly and peacefully left me shocked. Obviously noticing me I ask "Would you mind if I sat with you?". After allowing me to sit next to her, we started talking, laughing, and learning more about each other. When I stood up to get off my stop she followed me off the bus before asking if I lived around here. Turns out she lives in the apartment complex in front of the subdivision I live in. We said a quick goodbye before walking away from one another. The whole walk home I think of her, of Keela, and her two brothers that she looks after. She had told me that it's been that way for a few months because of her parents divorce when we were on the bus.
As I walk into the house I start on my homework while I cook diner spaghetti for my sisters. My mom is at work, she works the night shift at the gas station a couple of minutes away from here. After Celeste, Kaylen, and I have all eaten and cleaned up the dinner mess, they get ready for bed. As I say goodnight and turn out their bedroom light they hand me their information packets I need to fill out. After finishing my homework I put my it in my backpack. Starting on my sisters information packets I get a call from Ian.
"Do you like Keela? Because it's going around school that you asked her out, and Marie would flip if you did....do you remember what she did last time a girl flirted with you. She made sure the other girl left the school. So be careful.". He says rapidly to me. After calming him down I told him about me and Keela's conversation on the bus. "I like her dude, I haven't seen you this happy since last year before your dad passed away.....I kept hearing y'all laugh. She isn't like Marie she's kinder and smart, she is in my Spanish class and is ahead of everyone else.". "I am glad you like her, she is the best but Marie doesn't like her and even though I would break up with Marie for Keela... she doesn't seem interested in me and I am sure that she has a boyfriend. But please don't say anything to anyone about this conversation, okay? I don't need Jacob, Marie, or anyone else knowing." After reassuring me that he wouldn't tell anyone he hung up. I stand up taking the papers, that I finished completing during the phone call, and put them in the girls backpacks. When I'm done I get ready for bed and climb into bed. As I close my eyes I dream of Keela.
