"Father," Su Xiqin answered the phone with a quiet voice.
"Xiqin, are you feeling better today?" Mo Jinghan's voice transmitted through the phone.
She started to walk as she replied.
"Yes, a bit better."
"Are you not home right now?"
"I'm in the hospital."
"So you went to the hospital; what's wrong?"
"I was just changing up the medicine. Father, are you at my place?"
"Yes, your Aunt Ming cooked some soup for you to recover quickly, and we happened to drop by. We rang the doorbell for a while, but nobody answered the door, so I thought you might not be home."
"Father, that's a lot of work. Please thank Aunt Ming for me!" Su Xiqin actually didn't want to accept too much of this gratitude.
"It's nothing much, and I put you in this situation anyways."
"It was just an accident." Her voice was soft.
"Father, I'm going to pick up Jintian right now. How about you head back with Aunt Ming first."
"You're injured, and you should rest at home while Xigu goes to pick up the kid."
"He's busy. I'll be fine picking him up." Su Xiqin had reached the elevator.
"Alright, we'll leave the things at the security, and remember to ask them once you come back."
"Okay, thank Aunt Ming for me."
"Bye-bye."
Su Xiqin stepped into the elevator and headed downstairs after hanging up the call, and she waited for a while, but there weren't any empty taxis.
Suddenly, a Bentley pulled up in front of her. As the tinted window rolled down, a familiar figure appeared in her eyes.
"It's hard to get a taxi here; hop in and I'll drop you off somewhere where it's easier to get a taxi." Bai Yansen's voice was low and sounded indifferent.
Su Xiqin looked around again, but still there weren't any empty taxis, so she had to get into Bai Yansen's car first.
"Thank you so much then, Sir," Su Xiqin used the word sir again, trying to establish their distance as she pulled open the rear door.
Bai Yansen glanced at her through the rear-view mirror and started the car after she had settled down.
"Are you always this overly-polite and address others as sir?" Bai Yansen's deep voice was quite clear in the closed space inside the car.
Su Xiqin was tense, and her clear eyes blinked slowly, not knowing what to respond with, so she had her hand over her forehead and tried to distract herself.
"Yes, towards elderly mostly."
"So I'm an elderly to you."
"..."
Su Xiqin didn't know what to say.
The car went into dead silence, and Su Xiqin wished that she could get out of the car immediately. However, it was rush hour and also a time when taxi drivers were switching up shifts, making it even harder to get an empty taxi.
"Are you picking up your son?"
"Yes, please put me down at the bus stop," Su Xiqin replied as she reached her head out the window and looked at the traffic.
"It's hard to get a taxi; I'll drop you off at his school."
Su Xiqin also knew that it was hard to grab a taxi right now, and she could only ride Bai Yansen's car there.
However, Su Xiqin didn't expect Mo Jintian's homeroom teacher to run up towards her in a hurry when she arrived at the school.
"Jintian's mom, Jintian suddenly had a fever and was sent to the medical room. I was about to phone you when I saw you arrive."
Su Xiqin suddenly panicked having heard that her son was ill. "How come he has a fever?"
"It's probably the flu, and Jintian perhaps caught it. You should take him to the hospital right now."
"Yes, of course."
The teacher and Su Xiqin chatted as they walked towards the medical room. "Jintian's mom, how come you're injured?"
Su Xiqin covered her forehead and replied, "It's fine, I bumped into something by accident."
Su Xiqin arrived at the medical room and picked up Mo Jintian with her arms. However, Mo Jintian was quite chubby, and Su Xiqin had just injured herself, so it was a bit hard for her. However, she still picked him up as she headed outside.
Bai Yansen who was waiting in the car saw that Su Xiqin was having trouble holding onto the kid as she walked out of the school, so he quickly got out of the car and approached her.
"What's wrong?"
"My son's having a fever." Su Xiqin panted.
"Sir." Suddenly, Mo Jintian called out quietly when he saw this familiar figure.
Bai Yansen glanced at Mo Jintian and grabbed him from Su Xiqin.
"Get on, and we'll head to the hospital," he said to her.
Mo Jintian was happy to see Bai Yansen. I was just thinking about Uncle today, and he appeared; what a magical day!
The car dashed through the streets, and they arrived at the hospital in less than 20minutes. Once they got off, Bai Yansen grabbed Jintian from Su Xiqin's arms and said to her in his deep voice.
"You just recovered a bit; I'll hold on to him."
She didn't disagree and handed Jintian to him as she followed him into the hospital, and Bai Yansen headed straight towards VIP pediatric care.
The doctors inside panicked a bit when they saw Bai Yansen appear, and they asked the other parents to wait as they treated Mo Jintian first.
Su Xiqin was slightly unused to this as she had always lined up orderly when she took Jintian to the hospital.
"Let's line up!" Su Xiqin suddenly said in a quiet voice.
Bai Yansen was sitting on the chair with Mo Jintian on his lap, and he turned to look at Su Xiqin with surprised in his deep eyes. He couldn't understand the situation.
"These kids must be in worse conditions than Jintian since they were waiting in line earlier. We'll waste valuable treatment time for them if we cut the line. Every child is precious to their parents, and these parents must be worried as much as we are," Su Xiqin explained patiently.
Although she wanted Mo Jintian to be taken care of soon, she understood how other parents might feel.
Bai Yansen didn't say anything, but something in his eyes changed; there was something extra that she couldn't understand.
Just when Bai Yansen's gaze started to turn deeper, the doctor said, "Mr. Bai, please sit closer so that I can get a look at the child." Bai Yansen turned away from Su Xiqin and looked at the doctor who was staring at him before saying indifferently, "Take care of the kids who were here first."
His agreement was unexpected to Su Xiqin, and she felt something different looking at his tight profile.
She sat closer towards him and looked at Mo Jintian in his arms, and she suddenly realized that he was holding onto her son all this time.
She reached out after thinking a bit. "I'll take care of him from here!"
Bai Yansen turned around and said, "You're helping as long as you don't feel dizzy sitting still."
Her hand reached out awkwardly in mid-air as she thought that his words sounded a bit sarcastic. She pouted her lips in disagreement.
"I'm not as weak as you think," she murmured.
Her tone sounded a bit childish and cute, and that made Bai Yansen's lips curl upward.
"You still have a wound on your forehead," he said in an ambiguous, soft, and joking tone.
Su Xiqin felt a bit embarrassed after hearing that, but she glared at him with her slips still pouting; it was quite a womanly look.
Bai Yansen stared at her little pale face and her pouting red lips; he could see some water droplets on her long and thick eyelashes that seemed playful to him. Suddenly, his gaze turned even deeper.
