Chương 11: Chapter 11
It was a restless sort of night for the group, with the exception of Azure and Lapis. Their cute little yawns makes the wolf's heart melt. Giving a lick on their heads, they rub their fore paws over their faces, if they were facing each other, they would have appeared like a mirror. He turns over to look at the amused women. Nadia returning the favor for her daughters, causing him to use both his paws. In his mind, he was facepalming for the mistake.
A little confusion through the group as they see the action. Syren was just laying amused, watching the antics between the four. It was a bit of comedic relief between the group, letting them relax from the previous terror they had the day before. The wolfess showing amusement, before climbing to her feet, having an idea as to what they would be up to for the day.
She does however, 'get even' for her pup, licking the pair of fox cubs, trying to make them tumble over with the force, her nose helping out a little with the attempt. Stepping over the little cubs to part the emerald see before them. Both Syren and her son were looking out for any minds. The little cub trying to imitate her. He manages to sort of turn into a radar, that barely goes 4 steps away from himself.
He couldn't really tell the reaches his mother was able to feel out, the sense being at least triple his distance, but that wasn't possibly her limit. He does however, keep on trying, not letting up, even though he was only able to truly sense for one direction at a time. It felt like he was a submarine, searching for an enemy.
Azure and Lapis were practically swimming in the stalks, chasing each other noisily. They didn't go to far, It was interesting to, they sometimes would come back with 'prizes.' Most of them being bugs that were partially crushed. After bringing them back, they didn't seem to care what happened to them, yipping at each other as they run off searching again for more prizes.
Nadia watches them like a hawk, making sure neither of the pair get's to far away from the group. It was an hour before a sweet, alluring scent was trying to draw him in. The wolfess catches the scent to, even knowing how many times that sort of scent would mislead others. Nadia and her daughters were also interested. They almost start to run towards the alluring scent, only a sharp pain passing through all of their minds stops them.
A little whine coming from all of the cub's, they were the ones with the least amount of willpower. It wasn't to long before they start a bit more moderate journey, noses raised to the sky, following it closely. The noises of a variety of animals rushing through the blades. It was a surprises to them as a rabbit leapt close enough for the wolf to bite.
He was almost tempted, but a moment latter, the rabbit had cleared the space. His mother ignores the little snack that had moved close to her. Only Azure had thoughts on it, giving a happy yip, her mind thinking about how much she would enjoy a second day of meat. It was almost funny to watch, the little fox wasn't quick enough to pounce on the jumping bunny. It was soon hidden in the blades of grass, the little fox was disappointed, unhappy to not have gotten another meal.
There was a variety of sounds, some animals were fighting on their way, it was clear, some predators decided to treat the scent like a buffet. In the distance, some angry yowls and barks were floating into the sky, territory being fought for and claimed by species who didn't seem to have a thought of sharing what seems to be a bountiful harvest for all. Overhead, the top of a tree branching out, large spade shape leaves adorning the branches. Flowers were gracing the branches, large, ripe appearing, fruits, were weighing down some branches. The fruits had an apple shape,with a brown outside, covered with the spines of a pineapple. It made it look somewhat un appealing, but the smell causes most of them to ignore the outer appearance.
It was an open clearing that surrounds the trunk of the tree, which in his mind, appeared massive, Not as tall as those of the forest, but the trunk was a trunk thicker then most of those. None of the animals that had arrived earlier had approached the tree, except for a pack of fighting canines and a pride of felines. The felines were the most mix-matched group, some of them were deep black fur, others s spotted variety that's patterns made him think of eyes looking out from everywhere, seeing this, sends a chill down his spine. There was also a tiger striped one, who seemed to be the leader.
On the canine side, they were a bit more matching, most having a grey coat, a few had a brown coat, with a large grey being the leader. None of the fruits had fallen, but both groups were already trying to get the best chance at collecting all of the fruits, even if that was hopeful. Almost everything else was watching them, waiting for the final outcome of the groups.
Most of the prey were still hidden a little by the grass, making sure that no one would decide to have them for dinner before their prizes had dropped into their hands. His mother stepping out draws only a brief flicker of recognition, to enthralled with the potential bloodbath. The rest of us quickly joining her, sitting down acting like they were at a televised fight, getting front row seats to the action.
The tense atmosphere was punctuated by growls and low yowls between the group. A few felines were swiping at the air, gashes actually forming on the ground, this seems to signal the start, both groups charging towards each other with teeth seeking their opponents blood.
