Chương 16: 1.16 Meeting my Dad's Old Friends
The next day...
I was riding inside of my dads car with shades on to hide the demonic color that my eyes had taken. Today, we are going to a restaurant to have lunch with my dad's old friends from his army days. My dad was worried about my eye and hair color but after taking a night to think about it, it didn't hurt me in anyway to I figured that it wasn't that bad and stopped worrying about it. Most of the reason I was frightened by it was just because it happened out of the blue. It was really just too sudden.
The resturant we were headed to was a high end western resturant so I dressed to impress and put on my best smile when we got inside the restaurant. The moment we got in the resturant, a man in a suit came up to us and said. "Mr. Belvins, you're finally here. Your friends are waiting for you upstairs." This man came to us with his best smile. Although he looked calm on the outside, he was extremely nervous. He never thought that the president of Dogma would call him and schedule a reservation for his boss, the CEO of Dogma and her friends.
He quickly led us to the vip room and left just as fast with sweat on his brow.
When I entered the room, I saw 1 middle aged woman and man sitting at a large table, seemingly talking about something funny as they were laughing. The middle aged woman turned towards us and said. "Yo, old man, it took you long enough to get here."
My father's face turns stiff and he said. "I see that Grace has been doing well lately. Your game is a big hit. Even my daughter plays it."
This middle aged woman is Grace Heatherfield. The one that is the CEO of Dogma. She seems to be very immature but since she owns a business and it's doing well, she had to be doing something right.
"Yeah, and word on the street is, Scarlett is pretty good at the game. Its like this game was made for people like her." She turned to look at me and noticed the color of my hair. "That crimson color looks really good on you. Your skin is just the right tone for it." She was going to continue talking when I took off my glasses and looked into her eyes. All she could see was a pair of deep crimson eyes looking at her as if trying to harvest her soul.
"This game has changed me in more ways than one. I have loosened my brain's body limiter. I am stronger and my neural response is faster than others. My biggest change definitely has to be this. Do you know why this happened." I said while looking right into Mrs. Heatherfield's eyes.
Grace was shocked by what she heard. "The game can cause... this?" After churning her brain for while, an idea pops up in her mind. "Can you tell me what you did inside the game yesterday?"
Therefore, I tell Grace everything from entering the Trial of God to obtaining 2 opposing bloodlines and successfully combining them together to create a hybrid bloodlime.
Grace thinks for a long time. "Your eye color should be temporary. Let's wait and see. Try not to use those flames for a while in game. You should keep it as your trump card. As far as we know, this might change your eye color back. As for your hair... that might be here to stay. Nothing much we can do about it. Now let's get back to why I invited you. Remember that favor you owe me?" My dad's face immediately turned dark and he grinded his teeth together. I was puzzled but decided to just stay quiet.
"What do you want?" My dad sighs. He can't help but hope he isn't told to do anything stupid.
"I want your permission to use Scarlett for promoting the game's thief class." Both me and my father were stunned, albeit for different reasons.
"Wait, you don't want me to play games from your collection with you again? Or be a test subject for old snacks from 500 years ago?" Grace shook her head.
"Not this time. I think that your daughter has the looks and skills to be a celebrity player."
"But why Scarlett? Aren't there 1,000's of other players that can take her place?"
"There are but none of them are BloodMoon. I'm pretty sure you have seen it by now. Scarlett can be considered one of the best and if not, the best thief in the game at the moment. We want to do this while the game is still in its beginning stages. It could get more people into the game. Don't worry, it is just a 30 second cgi commercial. It'll be over before you know it." Grace used her best smile to try and covince the old bastard but he is a tough nut to crack.
My father was thinking for a long time. At this time, I spoke. "I'm fine with it. As long as I don't have to do too much, it'll be fine." Hearing this, my dad sighed. He doesn't want me to do this but since I agreed, he will support me.
"Great! Come to Dogma tomorrow and I will have the president bring you into my office. We can discuss a little more about this in detail and make it official with a contract." Grace offered her hand to me and I shook it completing the business deal.
At this moment 2 men and their wives and children came into the room. 2 of the kids looked close to my age and one of the looked to be around 13 years old. There was a tall girl with glasses. She was quite slender but I could tell that she trains her body quite frequently. Then there was the boy with a very sturdy build. His muscles look like they have power but don't bulge outward too much. These childern look like they do some sort of military and martial arts training. Then there was the little boy. He was just starting out with his training so he still had some baby fat.
"Harry, Sam! Come in and grab a seat. "Grace had a smile on her face when she saw most of her old squad members here. But one was still missing. "Does anyone have a way to contact Kate?"
Sam had Kate's phone number and was about to call her when the door opened. "Hope I am not too late." She closed the door behind her and looked towards everyone. "It's been a long time everyone, how are you all?" She asked.
"It's good to see you too. I have finally joined you guys in your retired soldier group so I am free of most responsibilities. We are doing fine." He then directs her attention to me and says. "This is my daughter, Scarlett. Scarlett, this is Kate."
"Its to finally meet you. Your father has told us alot about you. I also heard you are very skilled at Grace's new game." Kate smiles and looks at me from head to toe. "Your father told me that he trained you for a year before going back to the Special Forces. I can see that you haven't slacked off since he left you to your own devices. That's good. Having more than one way to defend yourself is always good. You never know when trouble will arrive." When she said this, she was curious about how strong I was. "Harry, Sam, tell your kids to come over here, I have some gifts for them.
After getting us together Kate hands all of us cards. "If you didn't know, I am the owner of the Burning Heart Training Center. These are diamond and platinum memberships for my training center. I prepared these as meeting gifts, I hope you like them." I looked at the member ship card that had a picture of a diamond on it and there was a piece of paper that was folded into the shape of the card right behind it.
I took the paper off the card and unfolded it. When I read what the paper said, I was very satisfied. "I like it alot. This is perfect for me."
"I'm glad you like it. If you have any trouble at the gym, be sure to call me and Big Sis will take care of your problems." It was kind of wierd that someone in thier 40's would call themselves big sis to a teenagers so we all just smiled and nodded.
I was gonna sit down beside my dad again when someone said. "Wait a moment."
I stopped and turned around to see the tall girl and the sturdily built boy coming up to me. The tall girl introduces "Its nice to finally meet you. My name is Valerie and my brother's name is Aidan." They put thier hands out.
"My name is Scarlett. Its nice to meet you as well." I shook their hands but didn't know how to keep the conversation going. Luckily, Aidan brought a topic up.
"Do you play Creed of the Fallen?" He asked.
"Yep. You play too?" I asked.
"Yeah, My ingame name is Dragon Fault. I am level 19 and play the warrior class." Aiden said.
"I also play the game too. My ingame name is Shirayuki. I am a level 20 Ice Mage" She said.
"Japanese?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, I studied japanese while I was in high school. My name is Snow White in english." She filled me in. I nodded
"Ok, my ingame name is BloodMoon-" Before I could finish, Aidan shouts. "You're BloodMoon?" Everyone turned towards us. Realizing that he was too loud, he covered his mouth but it was too late.
"BloodMoon? Grace isn't that the thief in your game that was making waves recently?" Kate asked curiously.
Grace stood up and walked over to me. She smiled and I chuckled bitterly. "Let me reintroduce you guys. This is the promotional representative of the thief class for Creed of the Fallen, BloodMoon." I smiled at everyone awkwardly.
"Nice going, knucklehead." Valerie smacked Aidan on the head. Aidan didn't like it at all but he knows he messed up so he held his dissatisfaction in.
When I came back, Aidan apologized for being stupid. I laughed it off and said. "I'll forgive you if you do one thing for me."
"What do you need me to do?" He was very cautious which made me speechless. What she didn't know was that to Aidan, girls were the most dangerous creatures on earth. You never knew what they were thinking until it was too late. His sister also liked to hit him on his head. This only made the problem worse .
Holding back my laughter, I said. "Join my mercenary group. We could use more hands."
"Are you serious?" Aidan froze before saying this. "You want me to join? Are you sure?" He was very excited.
I nod and look at Valerie as well. "Why don't you join as well? An Ice mage is is perfect for us right now."
"Sure." Aidan and Valerie agreed at the same time. We then exchanged numbers and made a chat group. Afterwards, we chatted until the food had arrived. As soon as the food arrived, It was all I could see. Tender Ribeye Steak, Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. I fnished my food first as everyone else was talking to each other when I was focused on devouring my steak. After about 1 more hour, the lunch ended and everyone said goodbye to eachother.
Before we left, Harry and Sam approached my dad and me. "We didn't get to introduce ourselves to your daughter. I'm Harry and this guy beside me is Sam. we also have a meeting gift for you." After saying this he pulled out a card from his hand and gave it to me. "This is our Diamond Membership. With it, you can get a private room for free and you have 40% off on your meals. We own the restaurant across from Capital High called The Empirian."
"You guys own that restaurant? My classmates had a graduation party there not too long ago. The food was pretty good." I was surprised.
"Hehe, It's good that you like our food. Please come over when you feel like it. We'll see you guys some other time." After they left, we got into the car and dad drove us home.
After getting home, I changed out of the dress and got into some more comfortable clothes, and put the bodysuit on before jumping into the game.
