"You're back," Anne exclaimed. "Are you going to sit and eat with me," she cried in wild excitement.
Childe nodded his head and smiled. As he was walking toward Anne, he gently wrapped an arm around Edie's waist and whispered in her ear, "Don't say a word about our conversation to Anne." The tone in his voice showed no emotion, but was intense, penetrating the mind like an order that was impossible to disobey.
Anne looked at Edie with an innocent smile but didn't say a word. It seemed she was used to Edie's presence. Edie looked at Chile and gave him an annoyed look. 'Does he care about her? If so, why would he hurt her? Is he using her? Since the moment I woke up, he's warned me not to hurt Anne. None of it makes any sense??' Countless questions surged through her mind. She felt defeated and frustrated and ashamed of herself. There was a lot to think about, too many questions and not enough answers.
